Just back from a wonderful week in Hilton La Ramana. We stayed in the family side but spent time in the adult only section as well. This all inclusive resort has to be the best managed and organized of any that we have ever been to throughout the Caribbean! Everything was seamless from the check in to our check out. Wifi is amazing. All restaurants were available at any time -no reservations needed. Staff was warm and efficient and so well trained. The FOOD is amazing not what you expect in the Dominican. Special shout out to Freddy in Noor restaurant. The resort is spotless and ground staff are constantly raking painting and cleaning. Our room was modern and the cleaning staff were perfect. Entertainment was good but wished it started earlier. Many nights, having been outside all day, we were asleep by 9:30 and didn't make the shows. Pools were perfect and the waterpark was fun even for us as seniors. The beach is eroding a bit as many are but the sandy bottom and calm waves made swimming nice. There is limited snorkeling due to water clarity but we saw many fish especially by the wharf. We only had one complaint the whole week and that is that the music played especially at the adult pool was extremely loud. Even when sitting on the beach it made relaxing difficult. I did go and ask them to turn it down a few days which they did. Others at the resort felt the same way. We wanted to hear the waves and the birds. Special shout out to the bell boy team and the Blue Jays biggest fan- Rodoipo Priol Soto ! This resort was so welcoming and professional that it has raised Dominican expectations and probably spoiled us forever. Thank You!

Hotel's Favorite
I'd like to start this review by noting we are a 31/32 year old newly married couple, who chose Hilton la Romana Adults only as our Honeymoon destination, and we were not disappointed. In fact, this was the best holiday we have ever had. 1. Hotel - The Hotel is split brilliantly into the Adults only and Family Sections, and you can really tell the difference between the two. Adults only offers a high class feel, with premium drinks, bars, restaurants and staff. Family side, however is also excellent, as is the water park - tip - well worth a visit. 2. Staff - Unrivalled. All the staff greet you with an 'hola' and hand on heart. All staff cannot do enough for you. They are proud to work here clearly and the hotel also helps them - as we found out Hilton support local churches and families to learn English/Spanish and also do courses in hospitality. 3. Food - Wow. The best part of the stay. A La Carte Dining is superb. We had breakfast, lunch and dinner in some of the best restaurants. Sakura Tepinyaki is unreal - and Noor offers an incredible Fillet Minon. We also ventures into the daily pizza oven bar - brilliant - and the beach food is also perfect. Well done Hilton. 4. Excursions - We booked a day trip to Catalina Island and went Snorkelling with Fernando and his team. Wow, what a day! Saw Turtles, Lobster, Octopus, Angel Fish and many many more exotic animals. The staff on the trip were amazing. 5. Room - We stayed in a top floor, sea view room and was excellent. The Air-Conditioning is powerful and views amazing. No issues with noise, despite looking over the adults pool. The curtains are also heavy and provide darkness in the mornings. Comments on other posts - the music in the adults pool can be deemed 'loud' but this is not the case. The pool adds a DJ/Drummer every 3 days only, and between 3pm-5pm only. This is highlighted in the daily schedules on the TV in your room and paper copies handed out by staff. Honestly, if you write a review and complain about this, its petty. The DJ is actually excellent and we looked forward to it! Premium - we paid for Premium and a Butler service. Honest review, the butler, Antonio was amazing. He bought us a cooler of beers, soft drinks, water and anything else we wanted to our lounger or beach. He also surprised us with coconuts, cocktails and gifts to take home, such as rare rum. However, we did not make much use of the Premium Pool or Beach. The areas are excellent, but we befriended a few English folk who did not have Premium so stayed with them in the Adults Zone, zero complaints, we thought it was excellent. Final Advice for Guests - it is a 'tipping' culture. A lot of the USA guests know this, but for UK folk may find this strange. I would suggest dishing out a few dollar bills early in your trip to bar staff and waiters. They will remember your name and make sure you are always left with a full glass. We cannot wait to visit again Hilton La Romana - Thank you for a perfect Honeymoon.

Great staff, great food. Buffet is surprisingly one of the best foods compared to the restaurants, a lot of authentic food found there. But chinola is a must. Genesis pierre was great help. Bar staff is amazing as well.

Super friendly and helpful. It’s my 3rd time here. Tayla was amazing !!! The Restaurants are great with genuine Dominican food. The pools are awesome with a choice of about 4 or 5 pools. The beach is clean with no waves so you can just chill. I’m coming back again soon.

Starting with the positives, the beach is beautiful with calm waters and white sand. However, there are some rocks, so it is recommended to bring water shoes. As for the room, it was standard in size and a bit outdated. Unfortunately, there was a damp smell and the bathroom lacked adequate lighting, particularly in the toilet area which was very small. On a positive note, room service was good, as the room was cleaned and tidied while we were out from 9 am to 4 pm. When it comes to the food, our experience was mixed. The Mare restaurant disappointed us with tiny and unfresh grilled prawns, as well as a fishy-tasting soup. The Japanese restaurant was average, with a soggy Pad Thai. The Noor restaurant was marginally better, but the meals lacked consistency. Lunch was better at Noor than dinner. Surprisingly, the buffet offered the best meal. Most days, we settled for breakfast in the Premier Lounge. Despite having visited more than 15 resorts in the Caribbean, we found the Hilton's food offerings to be underwhelming. Despite this, we still managed to make the best of our time there. However, we won't be returning.

So we are home back in the UK after 2 weeks here. I've had a nap and the washing machine is going like crazy so I thought I would sit and write as honest review as I can. We had 2 weeks adults premium and were in room 2115. We had a really lovely holiday but wouldn't return and pay for this place for an adults only hotel. As a family resort it is outstanding and I would recommend to anyone. Room- our room was perfect. It wasn't huge but had a great amount of storage space with 2 double wardrobes, 4 large drawers plus shelves. We had no funny smell or damp. The shower worked perfectly and was nice and hot. The toiletries in the bathroom were crabtree and Evelyn and really nice. I translated a note into Spanish to ask for extra conditioner every day due to me having long hair and they obliged us. Our room overlooked one end of the adult premium pool and was close enough to the lobby that we could nip to the coffee shop in the mornings for a coffee. Staff- most of the staff here are smiley, friendly and polite that would do anything for you and just want to please. Some are not. They are quite rude and don't seem to enjoy their jobs. I won't name names! The same can be said for some of the guests though who really should learn to say please and thank you etc. Particularly friendly staff were the ones at the family beach bar and the staff at the Grill and at Noor. Restaurants- this was our biggest disappointment to be honest. We were told Noor is premium but it is not. I think this has recently changed but it is not listed on the daily news as being premium and anyone could go there. Not once did they check a list to see if you were premium like they do at the grill. Sakura was our favourite food by far and we visited 3 times although on our last visited we had to send my husbands steak back as it was cold to touch. I understand that the Teppenyaki tables are good fun but they aren't fun when you're sitting in the other part of the restaurant listening to football chants at full volume. We had some outstanding meals while we were here but also some terrible ones. I would say it was around 50/50. A lot of the time the food was barely tepid and the orders were often wrong or overcooked. We had to send so many meals back. And to be clear, we really aren't people who make a fuss and don't like to complain but when they can't even get toast right or send out a croque monsieur that isn't toasted!! The best meal we had was fillet mignon in Noor. The worst meal we had was fillet mignon in Noor. There is no consistency. The grill was great for lunch and had the best menu. The nacho place, fruit boat and pizza place were all great for snacks during the day and we enjoyed the paellas and BBQs too. They are all on the family side. There is nothing like that on the adult side and if you want a truly adults only holiday( which you've paid for) then there is nowhere to grab a quick lunch. The coffee shops are fantastic. We've been AI all over the world and never had anything like that before. Getting freshly made coffee, frozen frappucinos, pastries and cookies all day long is great!! The Italian, French, grill and Peruvian restaurants are all on the family side. We were sitting in the grill having a fantastic meal with a saxophone playing in the background when in walks a load of bloody Disney characters followed by dozens of kids singing and shouting!! Just very very odd(but great for kids) I know lots of people will comment on this saying "well we had lovely food" etc and that's great, but we didn't. Pools- yes, the pools were cold. It is currently their winter so there's not much you can do about it. I've travelled a lot and never had a heated outdoor pool. It seemed strange to see so few kids in the family pool and all sitting on the edge which I can only assume was because of the temperature of the water. The family pool is particularly gorgeous with lots of cabana beds around it. These have to be booked and paid for. There seems to be plenty of loungers round all of the pools and each pool has a swim up bar. The waterpark is brilliant and I don't understand why people don't use it more. We only went 2 or 3 times for a walk around but there never seemed to be more than 10 people in there! The lazy river was fun!! Beach- the adults premium beach was horrible!! Lots of chairs packed into a small area and no easy access to the sea. You had to walk to the end of the beach, under a tree branch and over a rock to get into the water. We ended up spending every day at the family beach where we could walk straight into the water for a swim. The water was clear and blue and perfect. The family beach bar was great. The aqua zumba was great. The snacks were great. The music was great. The beaches are kept very clean. It was hard to find a lounger on the premium section by 8.30. People go down there really really early to reserve a spot then sit there until 8am when you are allowed to leave your belongings for an hour. On the family beach, the palapa loungers all seemed to be claimed quite quickly but you could nearly always find loungers. We love full sun so could put 2 loungers anywhere! Entertainment- this is my biggest complaint! The entertainment on the family side is great, for families. I don't want to go and sit on a garden chair to watch a show surrounded by kids(I'm not a terrible person, I have kids, I have foster kids, i have grandkids, I love kids, but I went adults only to get away from them!!) The adult entertainment is in the adult lobby which is strange in itself. Of the 14 nights we were there, they had 9 silent discos!! Great fun the first time but then becomes boring very quickly especially if you're not taking part in the disco and there is no other music etc. There was a burlesque show twice which was excellent, a fab violinist and a couple of excellent singers. There are not nearly enough seats for everyone and people have to stand around or sit on the wall which was a shame. Please don't get me wrong, we had a great holiday. We are tanned and relaxed and happy. But, if you are going adults only for a truly adults only holiday, then don't go here! It feels like there are a lot better facilities on the family side. Obviously my review is subjective to my opinion and i haven't put it on here to cause any controversy, but it is as honest as I can be. You can see how beautiful the place is from my photos, I just think they need a bit of an overhaul and a look at the things they aren't getting quite right.

The property is stunning, and it's clear that a substantial amount of money was invested in renovations. The beach and pool areas were truly breathtaking. That said, we found ourselves confused by the often amateur level of service provided and the mediocre food. It felt as if the whole resort was in training mode from the moment we arrived. The hostesses at every restaurant seemed beleaguered- I can understand given the wait times at most restaurants. There seemed to be some basic workflow issues that could easily be rectified. For example, room service wasn't able to send sodas with an order, and thus had to call housekeeping to order beverages. Queues for restaurants came with a buzzer, but there often weren't enough buzzers to go around, rendering this system completely ineffective. We tried multiple times to get a do not disturb sign for our door, to no avail. And while we truly loved the housekeeping staff, without this sign we found that housekeeping routinely entered our room when we asked them not to. The food was at best OK, at worst inedible. Perhaps OK for folks who wanted to drink their meals, but we were bummed overall. I would say- if Hilton could get it together and bring up the level of service and food quality, I would absolutely return. But it seems like some additional investment is needed above and beyond the property renovations to get this place up to snuff.

We spent our honeymoon here and it was incredible. I highly recommend upgrading to the Premium longue due to the additional amenities such as Premium Adults Only Pool that always had great drinks and ample sun loungers and the additional seated dining options for breakfast and lunch. Although even without the upgrade the experience would have been just as great! The staff were amazing and engaged especially the night entertainment including violin and Electro-sonic Show (Pablo P, Juliana, and Maria R). The water park on property was also an unexpected favorite for my husband and I. The food was high quality at all the included restaurants. We definitely can't wait to return. The grounds were impeccably pristine 10/10 would recommend.
