My wife and I spent 9 days at the Dreams Dominicus La Romana resort in early August and had a great stay. The highlight of the resort was the staff, they made the trip special. The resort has an interesting layout and architecture – it reminded me of someplace that belonged more in the Mediterranean or Greece and was built perpendicular to the ocean, so a fairly long and skinny property with very few rooms that had an ocean view. Our only complaint is that the original Dreams La Romana was our first trip to an all-inclusive resort about 10 years ago and the new property was vastly different than the original – nothing wrong with the new place, just not the original which was very tropical and more secluded in feel. Our room was unique – a two story suite with two bedrooms, two full bathrooms, living room, and three patios with a hot tub off the 3rd floor bedroom – a spacious room that could have easily accommodated a large family. The beach was very nice but during our time some storms off the coast kept the surf up, fun for playing in the waves but not great visibility and a little rocky. I did try snorkeling a few days from the beach, but the visibility was not good. We talked to a few people who were there earlier in the week and had reports of much better conditions – I think we just hit the timing wrong. Judging from the boats that would anchor a short way from the beach and disgorge people, I think the reef just off the beach is a popular snorkel tour spot, but the boat traffic between the beach and reef was too crazy to risk a swim from shore. The restaurants were good – standard fair for a Dreams. Our favorite spot was the beach-side Preferred Club restaurant and bar where we could enjoy dinner with our toes in the sand at the beach tables. Across the street from the main lobby is the Flying Fish buffet which had the most gluten free options including fresh pizza – we did not find this spot until the last few days of our stay and wished we ventured over earlier. Both were for Preferred guests only, but worth the upgrade. We only booked a single excursion through the AmStar folks – not a bad trip but not what was advertised either and heard other guests had a similar experience. The Catalina Island snorkel trip was advertised as a 4-hour excursion, but the total trip was actually 7.5 hours with two separate buses to the La Romana docks, a short time snorkeling from the boat, then a 3 hour stop at a beach for lunch. There was OK snorkeling from the beach if you got outside the protected area, but lots of boat traffic coming in and out to drop off at the beach. We would like to thank everyone for their hospitality, especially: Miguel – our Preferred Club butler. Always on the move and ready to help any way he could. Text messages every morning to check on any needs using the WHATSAPP, making dinner reservations to make sure my wife had gluten free options – excellent service! Maridalia – our UVC rep. Made sure the room was stocked just as we liked and ready to help! The surprise balloons and champagne for my wife’s birthday massage was a great hit. Our bartenders – always ready with a cold glass: Narci and Michael at the Preferred Bar, Johanna, Cindy and Zuleidy at the lobby bar Our restaurant staff and managers – Luis at the main buffet, Isaac the buffet manager, Jose Luis the manager at the Preferred Club, and Manuel our Preferred Club waiter. And a thank you to Cassandra in the spa for a great massage.

I decided to travel alone to the DR as I wanted to be in an all-inclusive resort where I would not have to leave the premises and could enjoy beautiful surroundings, good food, and have things to do at my leisure all within a safe environment. Dreams Dominicus La Romana far exceeded my expectations and erased my concerns of traveling alone. I opted to do a swim up room under the Preferred Club and was extremely happy. Throughout my stay, I received top notch service from all the hotel staff but want to highlight folks throughout this review. During my arrival/ departure, I was assisted by Yudys and Erick who were extremely helpful as were the rest of the bellboys who were pleasant throughout my stay. The Preferred Club ladies were also great. My room was not ready upon my arrival (I expected this given I arrived earlier) but once 3pm hit and it was still not ready, I was not a happy camper. Freddys from the guest services department (I believe) was great at getting things going as well as the Concierge, Edward who was assigned to assist me during my stay. I really appreciated having Edward’s help in scheduling a spa appointment and showing me around the hotel. He was always on hand via whatsapp to answer any questions I had which I really appreciated. Food/ Restaurants- I may be biased as I mainly ate at the Preferred Club restaurants, but I found the food to be pretty good and tasty. My favorite restaurants were Flying Fish and the Steak/ Seafood restaurant. I was well taken care of by Felix and Katherin (at Flying Fish) as well as the salad/ dessert attendants there. The pizza at Bldg. 49 which is ordered at Flying Fish was delicious! Activities Team/ Nightclub- One of the highlights of my trip was the daily shows put on by the Activities team along with some of the other folks they showcase such as the magician and the saxophone player. This is one talented bunch and I have to say the ladies are fantastic (shoutout to Yenifer and Niki) and super hard working. I did not want to miss the opportunity to dance while in the DR. Traveling alone poses its challenges to this given most guests are coupled up and single women are typically of a different lifestyle. I just wanted to dance and appreciate the guys from the Activities team (Cupido, Joel, Scooby and Cristóbal) who went out of their way to show me an enjoyable time and danced with me. Spa- I had an excellent package at a fraction of what I would pay here in the States and highly recommend. I do not recall the name of the person who tended to me, but she was fantastic and knew how to work with my skin as it was super irritated by the sun, so I appreciated her adaptability. Gym- this gym had all one could ask for and was kept clean. They have a person who sanitizes the equipment a few times a day which I thought was great. The attendant at the gym was very friendly and helpful in explaining how to use the equipment. I would recommend this resort to singles, couples, and families. The rooms are nice, the beach is beautiful, the restaurants are great, and the hotel is kept spotless. It was a nice touch that they offer Covid testing right on the premises for those of us from the States. I thoroughly enjoyed my solo trip and came back relaxed and recharged. I will be back.

My husband and I had the best time of our lives. The beach was super clean. The water was crystal clear , just sand , no seaweed, nothing just pure sand. The hotel staff were amazing. They were so kind and genuinely happy and outgoing. The food selection was very large and delicious. Domingo , one of the staff was extremely sweet, he memorized our names and always took excellent care of us. Jesus the man behind the scrambled eggs and omelettes, god bless him he's super patient and professional. Elizel(supervisor), Eddy(staff), Faustino(staff), Yesenia(assistant chef) are also part of the fabulous staff that made our stay so special. Everyone was so respectful and attentive to our needs. The entertainment crew was spectacular. They know how to dance! We truly want to go back again every year. Compared to all the hotels right next to us ours was honestly the cleanest and was not overflowing with people. No line ups or anything of the sort ( that's what we heard from people at the hotel nextdoor). I would recommend this place to everyone i know :) The locals are also so sweet. Please do visit the souvenir shops on the beach hut #29 Eva and Rolando and also hut #9 Alberto and the beautiful ladies (Paloma) that braid your hair right at the start of all the shops. Mucho gracias amigos !

I absolutely love this place and mainly because of it's people. The service and the willingness to go the extra mile to make sure you have a great time. The installations are beautiful. It is very well organized, there is always something to do or an activity like a fitness class or fun things at the pool. Plenty of options for food and great too. You know each customer is well taken care of when you see staff team members always around and smiling and asking how are you. The GM is always around and on the move I will be back !!Maria Santana ,junior the concierge, Wendy and many more thank you for your help and hospitality.

It was an amazing trip. We had the best of time. Our butler, Miguel went beyond his job and did a fantastic job on our friends birthday. The service was great and the workers were all pleasurable. We loved our swim out pool, the beach and the bars were great. The workers are so polite and friendly. Dreams in La Ramana is the way to go!
