The rooms are kind of okay. They are cleaned everyday and that is not a problem. The drainage in the bathroom needs to be fixed because i had to wash my teeth with pauses so i don't overflood the sink. The most hypocritical think is that the owner doesn't allow room smoking but he smokes at the reception. I would say its close to the city centar but you could walk across the city for about 20 minutes.
We booked 2 rooms for 5 of us. We arrived late direct from airport but check in was very quick and efficient. Rooms are basic but clean. Breakfast was very good for €5.Maybe a better coffee. Will use it again in the future!
a very good and clean hotel with a very good location.very friendly and helpful staff and owner.clean rooms and spacious rooms clean bathrooms and a very good breakfast.in the center of shopping and dinning.i deffinatly recommend this hotel.
Hotel Makedonia seems like nice, family hotel. Owner was very kind during process of reservation, and this hotel is, obviously, one of only few which works during whole year in Ouranoupolis, Greece. As I went to Monastery Hilandar (Chilandariou) they absolutely solved my problem where to spend one night, waiting for ferry to Monastery. Big, clean, correct rooms, with, hm, small TV, but who cares... Standard breakfast, but maybe it could be little better, with more options for people who are fasting (post). Parking space - in front of hotel, definitely not problem during winter. Recommendation for all travelers - pilgrims. Not so great view from hotel room, but, for one day, not a problem. In any case, you will see Eagean sea!!
Stayed overnight in order to leave by ferry the next morning to The Holy Mountain (Mt Athos). Check in was easy. The room was neat and clean and it was inexpensive. Convenient to to the Mt Athos Visitors Bureau and the ferry. A number of foods available for breakfast, just remember you are not in USA. Would stay again.
Clean room, silence. The night I spent there was a quiet and silent one. the personal was polite and careful. It is a place close to the beach and the harbor. I think it is the best place to stay when you do such a pilgrimage.
The hotel is centrally located, just block or two from the sea. It is pleasant, simple hotel with the welcoming hosts. The room, although a bit basic, was clean, with newer furniture, bed was great to sleep in and the accommodation price was on the lower end of the scale in comparison with the similar venues. WiFi was free, and it worked well/fast. The bathroom was really small, and better shower head wouldn't hurt. The issue might be lack of parking, as this is very densely populated part of the city. Seems that parking is an issue for the whole neighbourhood. Anyway, the accommodation fulfilled the expectation, and I wouldn't mind coming here again sometime in the future.
The hotel is nice (see pictures on official page), it's quiet outside, hardly any traffic, but only a few steps from the main street, the shopping area and the beach. No noise from neighbouring rooms to be heard. The owner is friendly, but not too bothered about the guests. The cleanliness is okay, but they use chlorinated cleanser, so it smells like being in a swimming bath. The hook for the toilet paper was in our case just underneath the hooks for the towels, so the toilet paper was covered by the towels and got slightly damp after taking a shower. The beds were okay, though much too hard as always in Greece. I have no idea how they survive on these stone hard matresses. The furniture was really nice, the rooms (we had rented two rooms, No. 1 and no 304) look charming, but the lights are very weak (especially in room no. 304), also in the bathrooms, so it is rather dark, even in mid August. The air conditioning in the rooms were good, but the ventilation system in the bathrooms is loud and ineffective, so you need to leave the door open after taking a shower. The w-lan was very weak and slow, you only had a chance to use it at all near the reception, almost no reception in the rooms. The breakfast, which you have to pay separately (5 € per person) is awful and not worth the money. Thinking of it gives me a bad remembrance, so I'd rather not go into detail.…
Four of us stayed in this small hotel in May on the way to Mount Athos. The owner Stelios was most accommodating and helpful. Our rooms were small but adequate and the breakfast was modest but adequate. I would recommend this place for a short stay.
I was here just one night. The day after me and my friend have left for Mount Athos. The small room was perfect. Breakfast not so good. Anyway price was very low. A goog hotel for pilgrims. Free wifi.
