Iberostar Bouganville Playa boasts spacious and clean rooms that many guests appreciate, but some mention are slightly outdated and can be noisy. The hotel's staff is often celebrated for their dedication and friendliness; however, occasional long waits at the reception and lifts have been noted. While opinions on value are mixed due to extra charges, the amenities, including all-inclusive dining and child-friendly pools, receive high marks. Its location is favored for beach proximity, though historical sites are further afield. The vibrant atmosphere is a hit, yet can sometimes lead to noise complaints.

The hotel was lovely, staff really friendly and helpful, and it was spotlessly clean. Lots of activities to take part in, in you wanted but you didn't feel pressured to taking part. Swimming pools were fantastic and food (we only had breakfast) was great. Will definitely be back with the kids next time!

Hotel's Favorite
Family of 7 (6 adults and 1 toddler) one week all inclusive. Check in/ Reception: Upon arrival we were offered 2 glasses of cava each with the choice of normal or rose cava. This was a nice touch and much needed after a long day of travelling. Check in took a little longer than expected but we didn’t mind as we were just happy to be there. We were asked to pick an allocated time slot for our breakfast, lunch and dinner. We didn’t mind this as we would rather be guaranteed a table than the restaurant being overwhelmed with guests. Safety box is charged at around €3 per day, which is a bit silly as is usually included in the hotel room rate in other hotels. Rooms: We were allocated rooms on the first floor, all next to each other which was perfect for our party. Rooms are spacious, comfy beds (although only one pillow each, however we called reception and they gave us more). Bathroom is big, with powerful shower and shampoo, body wash and body lotion included. Rooms are cleaned daily, with towels replaced. Bedding is not changed unless you request for it to be. We all had sea view balcony’s (paid extra) which were lovely. Table and chairs on the balcony, with drying rack for bikinis/ towels etc. We hired an iron with a deposit of €20 which we got back at the end of our holiday. Hairdryers are included with the room and just a standard hotel hairdryer but does the job. Unfortunately on two of the nights (Friday and Saturday) we were kept awake by extremely loud music from a bar across the road until 2am. Whilst not the hotels fault, some sound proofing would be beneficial or at least some warning. Air con worked perfectly. Not noisy either. Pool areas: Have to reserve sun beds by 7:30am if you want a decent spot. However, the hotel keeps a stack of sun beds by the pool for those who come later (no later than 10). Sun beds are all hosed down during the evenings. Pools are large, however due to the number of guests they are very busy. On the first few days lilos were allowed in the pools but the hotel then told guests they were no longer allowed due to the size of them. Many people were upset by this new rule, although it is understandable why the hotel made this decision. One of the pools does not open until 10am which seems a bit late. Lifeguards are often on their phones, which doesn’t seem very safe. The lifeguards also give out the pools towels to guests which distracts them from guarding the pools and again is unsafe. The two adult water slides were great fun, and never any queues to go on them. There is a life guard who tells you when you can go down so is very safe. The kids water slides were great, my nephew had so much fun on them. Buffet restaurant: At lunch time drinks are self serve. Bottled rose and white wine is kept in the fridge for you to help yourself to and red kept on the side. Draught beer is available as well as soft drinks. During dinner time drinks are served to you. Cocktails are not served in the restaurant. Food is delicious and plenty of choice, we were very impressed. The pizza is the best pizza I’ve ever tasted (served daily). Fresh meat and fish cooked for you. Fresh salad bar which was delicious. Most evenings there was a theme, the Mexican and sushi nights were the best. Always something different on offer. Desserts were delicious and again lots of options to chose from. On one occasion a young child was sick near the desserts , whilst the team cleaned it up promptly from the floor the plates and desserts (in close proximity to the sick) was not replaced. The child then continued to walk around the restaurant when the family should’ve probably been told to go to their room or elsewhere as the child was clearly unwell. All waiters were extremely friendly and very interactive with young children which was sweet. We did not see any cockroaches or other bugs in the restaurant as mentioned in other reviews. Pool bar: Very friendly staff , self serve beer, water and soft drinks. Cava available at the pool bar which was nice. 7 cocktails included in the all inclusive. 2 slushes available which you could ask to add alcohol to. 2 ice creams and 1 ice lolly available, the rest you have to pay for. Pastries available at the pool bar. Quick service during the day, often queues during the evening but don’t take too long. BBQ snack bar: Available daily 11:00-18:00. Selection of pizza. Salads, baked beans, hash browns, bacon, sausages and desserts. Great for a quick snack. Self serve beer, wine and soft drinks. Lobby bar: Great service, we always had a drink here prior to going to dinner. They have a big screen which shows sports on and many people enjoyed the formula 1 or football. There was a pool table in the lobby which is a nice touch. Live music in the evening in the lobby bar which was very relaxing. Games room: Basically an arcade, most rides/ games €1. 2 pool tables inside too. The room is not air conditioned so is very hot during the day and evenings. Entertainment: Kids mini disco every evening at 20:30. The entertainment team were great with the kids and got everyone involved. From 21:30 there was adult entertainment such as live music, acrobat shows, 80s disco etc. Very fun and great to get involved in. Very limited tables and chairs during the evening. Most guests had to sit on sun beds which isn’t very practical. The hotel could definitely invest in some more tables and chairs to make guests experience much nicer whilst watching evening entertainment. Daytime entertainment included; bingo, darts, yoga, aqua aerobics , water polo, artery. Entertainers asked people to get involved but were not pushy if you say no. Wifi: Wifi is free throughout the hotel and very good. Works in the rooms and outside near the pools. Lifts: Lifts are a real issue in this hotel. Only 4 lifts for the whole hotel. Often wait times of 10+ minutes. Fortunately we were on the first floor so it was not so bad for us. However, when we had the buggy it could be a real pain and often we would just carry the buggy down the stairs as it was much easier and quicker. All inclusive drinks: Cocktails include; mojito, tequila sunrise, sex on the beach, pina colada, daiquiri (frozen), caribe, Iberostar own cocktail. Will attach a photo of the menu. Soft drinks: Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite (sugar free), Fanta Lemon and Orange (sugar free) , Lemon ice tea, sparkling and normal water. Branded drinks including : Baileys, Gordon’s gin, Jack Daniels, Smirnoff vodka, Malibu and many more. Bar staff make you whatever drink you ask for. Check out: A few days before we were due to leave we asked to extend one of our rooms as check out is 11 and we weren’t leaving until 15:30 so wanted somewhere to shower. Were told the rooms are fully booked so unable to extend our room but we could shower in a courtesy room which we were fine with. Left our luggage in their luggage room and once ready we asked if we could have the key to the courtesy room to shower before leaving. We had booked two courtesy rooms and only received one at first, which was our original room we had been staying in. When we got there a man was tiling in the bathroom so we had to wait for him to leave before we could go in. The second courtesy room (which was one of the rooms we had been staying in also) was still being used by other guests , so again we had to wait for them to be out and we were only given 30 minutes to use the rooms. Was very unorganised and seemed pointless that we had to check out of the rooms , for them to be cleaned only for us to return a couple of hours later and reuse the rooms for them to have to clean them again. Location: Lots of shops near the hotel, lots of restaurants and bars too. 5 minute walk to the beach. 15 minute walk to siam park. Overall this hotel was excellent. We had the best time and it exceeded our expectations. I would definitely return to this hotel. Also, want to say a massive thank you to Francisco in the buffet restaurant who was so polite, friendly and helpful. He always made sure to interact with my nephew who was very fond of him. Francisco is an amazing asset to Iberostar Bougainville Playa and we were very sad to not see him on the last day of our holiday.

Yet again myself and my husband spent 2 fantastic weeks at this Hotel. The helpfulness of the staff in all departments was outstanding as usual. The cleanliness of the facilities (bedroom, entertainment areas including the pools) was excellant and the food in the dining room for breakfast, lunch and evening meal was excellant in taste and the variety was extradinarly good.

Upon arriving at the hotel the staff was very friendly and helpful signing in was painless . We was offered an upgrade at a cost of £314 .which we paid. We was told it give us access to adult only pool it has not got an adult only pool . Mini bar which only was topped up the day we arrived. . And never again . Use of a sun longe with sun beds which it has . The only thing is the beds most of the time had towels put over them by other guests with no one using them for hours s On one occasion a guest removed the towels which had been there for hours and then was slapped by the guest who come back after hours to use the sun bed . The man who got slapped was 83 years old . It was reported but nothing happened . The hotel staff who attended the incident said there was not much she co do . After this we never used the sun longe again. Complete waste of time and money

We enjoyed a 2 week winter holiday here in late January/early February. We had not stayed here since February/March 2022. The hotel was lovely, they had updated the main public areas and installed all new service counters in the Buffet Dining Room. Reception check-in was swift and accompanied with a welcoming drink of Cava. Our side-sea view bedroom was clean and in reasonably good condition, a little bit of painting was needed around doors and cupboards. The large double(king-size) was really comfortable and the air-conditioning worked well. The bathroom was great with powerful shower and clean towels every day, only drawback, was the door opened into the bathroom, which made it a tight squeeze when negotiating access. Some other bathrooms have sliding doors, which make access so much easier. Room safe was a disappointing €3 per day! Waiting for a lift was sometimes tedious, hence we tended to walk down the stairs as we were accommodated on the 2nd floor. The buffet food, was we found offered a huge choice of many different dishes, seafood choices, freshly grilled fish, chicken, steaks, pork chops, veal etc. available each evening along with many traditional dishes, pasta, pizza, Chinese, Indian, large cheese selections and endless desserts. Choice of many salad dishes, a dozen different breads. No one will go hungry. Breakfasts offered an endless choice of many different foods to meet all your dietary needs. Occasionally a little busy, the introduction of an early or late time for sittings has helped spread the load on the dining and seating options. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable 2 weeks, we would certainly consider returning at some future dates. The pool areas were excellent, sun-beds were plentiful and towels were available for a €20 refundable deposit. Some of the sun-beds were due to be replaced in that the webbing was rather frayed in places. Main Pool was cool, but a slightly heated pool was available for all, albeit nearer the children’s areas. One drawback of being around the pool was we found was that on several occasions, the sickly stench of cannabis could be smelt in the air, several people were vaping or smoking cannabis whilst lying on their sun beds.

My fourth time at this hotel in Tenerife, the food is great, staff mostly friendly (a bit to male dominating culture at the front desk that needs fixing) fantastic yoga- pilates out doors in the morning (one of the best things), entertainment is too loud and mostly boring (except for poker nights), kids club is great, vip rooms and balconies are great, I love that the people working there seem to try there best to help if you need any thing. Gym is ok, could use some weights. I have been here with kids, for business, and with friends, and after trying three other hotels in Tenerife- this is by far the best, no nonsense, clean, environmental friendly, nice staff -and no partying groups dead drunk at the bar. Family friendly, well functioning hotel. Highly recommended

We booked this hotel as it was my 50th birthday. I had first stayed here 40 years ago. What can I say. Firstly the staff, they were exceptional. Every single one was polite, friendly, approachable and went out there way to ensure we were well looked after. The hotel was spotless and cleaned thoroughly every single day. The room was quiet, clean and very comfortable with a great view. The food was plentiful with a huge selection catering for all diets and even during slightly busy times, the restaurants were well managed so you weren’t waiting. The facilities were fantastic and well laid out. A few people have mentioned the lifts. We found them not to be an issue, maybe a slight wait during meal times but nothing more than a few moments. This is a well run hotel in a great location with fantastic staff and good amenities. We had an amazing holiday and will most definitely be returning again soon.

We arrived at 16.00 after a trouble-free shuttle from the airport courtesy of Jet2 - we were the only two at the check-in desk which was great. We were given a warm welcome, and each offered a glass of cava while the manager explained the set up. We were asked to pay a deposit for towels (for use at the pool when required - but refundable on check-out so no problem) and to chose our preferred time slot for breakfast and dinner. This is a good way of managing numbers in what proved to be a busy, but well-organised restaurant. Having said that, we had an early start one day but were able to take breakfast before the restaurant opened (with a slightly restricted selection). We'd paid extra for a room with a sea view. The room was perfectly fine, spacious and comfortable, with a balcony looking out towards the sea on the left and Mount Teide on the right. We could not have asked for more – except, it was winter, and the sun never quite got around to our own balcony. But a week of glorious weather made up for that. The pool area was busy but we always managed to get a sun lounger in a sunny spot on the few days when needed. The pool and children’s pools (well separated) were surprisingly quiet, maybe because it was not during school holidays. But we were happy to explore the surrounding area and the hotel is perfectly located for all the local bus services (to Los Cristianos, for example) and a five minutes stroll from the walkway serving the local beaches. The best parts were the restaurant meals and the quality and choice of food. Freshly prepared dishes kept being added to each of the food bars with the added bonus of a local-themed self-serve bar of Canary-produced products. Every meal was a treat my wife and I both waited for with poorly disguised anticipation. In the evening a live music show took place in the lobby bar until about 10.00 with patrons being encouraged to dance or clap by the staff. This occasionally proved an unwanted distraction, but many were happy to join in so no complaints. Would we consider staying here again? Without a doubt. We have convinced the rest of the family to join us here in December for a pre-Christmas break in the sun. We can't wait.

We are a family with 2 teenage boys and this hotel was a perfect base for us. The reception is large and welcoming although check in was quite slow. Juan took our bags to our room and he was great, really friendly, as were all the staff. We had 2 connecting rooms on the 4th floor. We had comfy beds, a reasonable balcony, a fridge, plenty of hanging space and a safe (although this was annoyingly an extra charge). Bathroom was fine, good powerful shower. We were half board and meal times were chaotic trying to find a table, but the staff were helpful and there was plenty of variety of food. Breakfast was huge variety of cereals, fruits, hams, cheeses, pastries, pancakes, hot food, juices and tea / coffee. Evening meal the food was great but be aware that you have to pay for water. There are absolutely no drinks whatsoever included in your evening meal. I understand paying extra for soft drinks or beer and wine etc, but it made me feel taken advantage of by having to pay for simple water. This had not been mentioned and it did take the shine off my evening meals. There are free water stations on every floor but you can't take the water from these into dinner with you. Lifts were a bit hit and miss and couldn't cope with the volume of people especially at meal times, but if you're happy to wait one will eventually arrive. Location is great, easy walking distance of everything you need and a stones throw from the beach. Facilities at the hotel were also good, choice of pools and we never had a problem getting sun loungers. Entertainment staff work hard but it wasn't really our thing.
