This was our second stay at the hotel, having last stayed in September 2016. I was concerned by some of the more recent negative reviews, but I’m happy to say I needn’t have been and it was another great stay.
The rooms are spacious, the beds comfortable and I particularly like the rooms that have views of the mountains. The decor is traditional and I appreciate to some this may feel dated, but I would call it classic. We encountered a minor issue in the first room we were allocated, room 119, in that we could hear a noise that sounded like pipe work or something similar and our neighbours said they could hear it too (another review on here also mentions it). However, we were offered an alternative room on the fourth floor as soon as we mentioned it at reception.
One criticism I cannot get on board with is that of the food. The breakfast is easily the best hotel breakfast we’ve had anywhere in Europe. The choice is extensive, it’s all fresh and the dining room is large, bright and airy. I’m not sure what more people are expecting from the breakfast to be honest?!
The pool area is great and they don’t allow anyone to reserve sun beds before 10am (and they enforce it) which means you can go for a leisurely breakfast then come down and you’ll still find a bed, no problem.
We can’t comment on the evening entertainment as we like to go out and about and I would never book a hotel based on the entertainment offering.
The location is perfect for us as it’s peaceful but still within walking distance of the beach, shops, bars and restaurants. I love being able to look out to the front and see the sea, and then the mountains at the back.
This remains one of my favourite hotels to stay at and I’m looking forward to visiting again in the future, when hopefully the refurbishment will make it even better.

I would echo comments about this hotel being dated. The bathrooms in particular were showing their age and the shower over bath a little challenging for the less mobile, but it did have two sinks, good supply of toiletries and towels (and a slightly old fashioned bidet!). However, if you can get past the bathroom this really was a very nice hotel. Our room was side sea view and spotless, spacious and comfy with loads of storage, towels changed as often as you desire. The hotel has been exceptionally well looked after, so despite its age was in good order, the restaurant, pool area, communal areas and rooms had a charming authenticity about them with loads of lovely old stone features, traditional tiles and beautiful foliage everywhere. So it had a much warmer feel than a modern minimalist hotel. The palm trees and greenery around the pool area were particularly pleasant. The staff were wonderful, polite, helpful and lots of activities to join in with round the pool. You will not be bored if you want activity (fashion shows, games, pool, darts, tennis, aqua aerobics etc). The music round the pool was relaxing and non-obtrusive and provided a lovely atmosphere. There were plenty of sunbeds. We only had B&B, but the breakfast food was very good quality and lots of choice, with lovely outside dining area as well as inside. Its about 10 minute walk to the beach and moments from the main prom with loads of restaurants and bars. Its in an area that was a little more upmarket (large designer shops etc), but it was only moments to a more authentic area with more traditional restaurants and shops. We didn't see any of the evening entertainment at the hotel, but the shows seemed popular and well attended. Drinks were reasonably priced. Lunch snacks were available, but a bit limited in choice. I would recommend this hotel for older couples (50+) and/or anyone who wants a more traditional feeling stay, good value and comfy vibes. It's situated in a more 'designer shops' area, however, it didn't take too much of a walk to find more authentic bars - recommend Martini restaurante for great tapas and Cafe Steps for a cosy bar with lots of old music playing (1950's - 1980's). Moon bar for great views of the sunset and Tanyo's bar for really cheap drinks in a more traditional setting. Most of the seafront restaurants seemed to serve every cuisine imaginable so quantity over quality - I would recommend opting for the eateries that provide more authentic menus with less choice but where quality was far more outstanding. Would stay again - (maybe not for you if you're seeking contemporary, minimal and sleek)

An excellent hotel and I whole heartedly recommend it to anyone wanting an adult-only holiday.
We stayed on a half-board basis and the buffet breakfast and dinner selections are not just varied and extensive, they were also delicious!
The rooms are big and have a large en-suite area with two wash-hand basins, bath with wall-mounted shower attachment, wc and bidet. A selection of toiletries, comb, sewing kit etc is supplied (all very useful) and an ample supply of various sized towels. There is also a tea-point and fridge. The cups provided are rather dainty, so if you like a mug of tea/coffee do bring your own or buy some locally.
The mattresses are comfortably firm, ideal for my spinal problem and the furniture ample and of good quality.
The balconies are good-sized with two chairs, table and a wall-fixed drying rack. The rooms are efficiently and quickly cleaned daily and tea/coffee etc re-stocked.
The pool-facing rooms are called 'superior' but no different to the street-facing rooms. Blaring music from pool and pool-side activities take place from 11:00am so if you want to sit on your balcony in peace you ought to contact the hotel and make sure you do not have a pool-facing room. We changed our rooms on arrival in Jan 24 but this year we arranged our days so as to be out of the hotel during the noise-fest.
The staff are friendly, polite, efficient and caring. The staff, from receptionist to cleaner, act more like gracious hosts than hotel employees.
We have been coming here for years and will continue to do so :)

Great hotel and great location. €35 taxi from airport. Been here a few times before and it’s always been pleasurable. The hotel is closing next year for a refurb which is overdue as the hotel and rooms are dated.
Rooms are ok size and clean. The hotel is massive so it always feels spacious. It’s so big it could do with maps and directions being posted up at junctions.
Dining hall (buffet) is very large and has great food. It’s the best breakfast I’ve had at a hotel. Lunch and evening meals not as good but good enough. Big variety so there’s something for everyone and kids well catered for. Pool snack bar has limited junk food through the day.
Drinks ok but not the best. Not very strong. We have all inclusive and all inclusive drinks. The latter is a let down as not all drinks are free and silly things like fresh orange juice is not included!
Staff are really miserable. They have no desire to do more than the basics for you and look fed up. Example you get an offer of tea or coffee at breakfast and wine at lunch and dinner when you sit down, but you never see them again and there’s no self serve so you’re left with no drinks often.
Biggest problem here and why I’ve rated it low is the poolside towel situation and knock in effect at breakfast. Signs clearly state no reserving g beds before 10 and towels will be removed. I came down at 7.30 and all the beds are reserved with towels and there’s nobody on them. At 9.30 staff walk around removing towels but by 9.30 guests are up and on their towels. It’s a good policy but hopelessly implemented. I complained to the 9.30 staff who just shrugged. I complained to reception who were apathetic and said they’re too busy to do anything earlier. The knock on effect is a massive queue to go into the dining room at 10 and it’s heaving busy as everyone who got up early, put a towel on the lounger and went back to bed had now brought their bags to their reserved loungers and is now going for breakfast.
As most people using the hotel use the pool and breakfast room, this effects everyone. One guest told me it’s been like this for 15 years but I don’t remember it being so bad in previous visits. Maybe it’s worsened by peak season? Either way it lets down the whole experience and I’ll update my review if the staff act positively to this issue while I’m here.

Dear Jeff M, We appreciate your comments about your recent stay. Certainly, our large hotel opens all the year-round and requires constant maintenance, which we have carried out over the years. At the end of January, as mentioned, we will close to undertake a necessary refurbishment. Regarding the map of the facilities, this can be found, along with the rest of the information about our services, on the web-app that you can easily download through the QR code that you will find on your key and different places in the establishment. We regret any shortfall in our restaurant service and will follow this up with our team. We have the policy of not allowing the reservation of sunbeds, as indicated on the signs and it is also advised on arrival. The collection of towels does not have an established schedule, being at different times of the day. We regret that, despite our best efforts, some of our guests do not respect this simple rule, which is made for the benefit of all our guests. For our part, we continue every day to implement the standard that is highly appreciated by many of our clients. Thank you for your visit. Regards Judit, Assistant Manager, GF Gran Costa Adeje

We stayed in two rooms b&b, reception is massive and live being able to see the pool on the ceiling, such a great entrance. We arrived late the kids got room service which was really reasonable. You can’t pay at the bar with cash just card or charge to the room then you can pay cash at the end. Rooms really big, bathrooms big. I can’t wait until they have their refurb as I think that would make it. But we all love this hotel. Loads of sun beds but I really liked it that in the morning they would go around and any towels left with none they take them. They only did this in the morning. So close to everything nice little walk to either beaches duque is quiet location and Fañabe is busier with a long strip to the harbour. The Thursday and Saturday market is not even a 2 min walk from hotel. We went to Siam park get there early even though it says it opens at 10 we were there at 8:30 ques already let you in by 9 go to any locker area and you can buy a fast pass (must) only about 5 min taxi drive from hotel. We went night skies dinner, sunset and stargazing with night skies top trip perfect run and collect from hotel. Whale watching catamaran trip another one off experience. But this hotel is large, staff friendly and great drinks on offer again we was AI but we found it cheap. Rooms cleaned fresh towels in bathrooms daily. Pool towels given at beginning and you return them at end of stay we only stayed 5 nights 6 days not sure how this works for 14 days. Our return flight was late, check out was 12 which was great and in the morning I booked us the shower room so we could freshener up before we got our transfer, no extra cost. Beautiful hotel so happy. 2 adults and 2 teens!

I could have said a lot about this Pension but I will summarize what annoys us the most, I will make another review on returning to France! On August 31, we arrived and placed our suitcases on the floor and we placed on the black plate of the TV stand a bag with 2 forks, 2 knives, 2 small spoons, and a bottle opener corkscrews. We went out and met the room service that was going to drop fruit in our room. When we returned, we saw that the black plate now contained coffee and cups but that the bag with our belongings was no longer there. We thought that the person would realize that he had taken it by mistake and that he would bring it back since the cutlery is not at all the same as theirs! After a few days, since this was not the case, we contacted the Pension who told us they asked the staff but that no one had taken the bag! So he flew himself out of the room! Annoyed by this response, we insisted but their response was to ask for the description of the bag!!! As if it would help to find him!!! In short, they absolutely do not assume and there is no commercial gesture either!!! It is a shame and we will widely communicate on this on all possible sites!!! On the other hand, we reported that a family whose 3 children scream continuously, like a game, at all meals and during all meals and even shows and that it inconvenienced quite a few customers, and that it was absolutely unbearable, they replied to me (Tanya) that the hotel contained children and that the noise was normal! In short, either they can't read, or they do it on purpose!!! It was obviously not normal noises of children playing, we know what it is, we had 4 and we have 3 small children, it was to respect the well-being of customers in front of a family that abused! They know how to demand long pants for visual respect, but they don't know that! Cons include the smell of old that persists in the room, very weak air conditioning, non-existent soundproofing (you can even hear the flushing!), very damaged furniture, a bay window that heats up to the point of having to close the double curtains all day, no room to put your things in the bathroom, the (too small) rooftop pool that opens only at 10am and is quickly saturated, people who squat in the deckchairs of the pools downstairs with towels early in the morning and for some not to even return, the restaurant that has no fluid system to access it (you have to give a card with your room number), only 2 TV channels in French, the music too loud around the pools,... for the positive things, I will make another post when my bag story is solved but I doubt the Inn really cares about its guests!

We really liked our stay at the adeje gran. We had some issues with the wifi, air con and the tv but we asked reception and it got sorted on the same day. Although we did go a whole week without as we just didn’t think it was working. The animation team are the most amazing people, my daughter absolutely loved her time in kids club and the mini disco, although it was a little late starting at 8.30 so she only went a few times as we ate out. The pools were lovely but the cold pool needs warming as it never got used by anyone as it was freezing! We found The fashion show so cringy, But the sax player is cool! Breakfast was ok but we preferred to sleep in and the cut off was 10.30.. the cleaners were friendly and my kids loved saying hello and the room was always tidy but if you don’t put your do not disturb card in your getting woken at 9am! And you can literally hear the cleaner in the room next door pulling the bed out and scraping the furniture across the floor. We Could hear a lot of noise on a night at like 2.30am from inconsiderate people talking really loud and shouting, this definitely made it feel like it was less than 5 star. We were also put on the 3rd floor with a 22 month old and an open balcony so we had to have the balcony door constantly shut. We kept moving the table and chairs away from the railings of the balcony but everytime the cleaner came in she put this back which was really annoying. If my baby climbed up that chair and onto that table he would have been over that balcony in seconds. The hotel is in a great area and you can avoid the big hills by walking up the back streets. There’s some really nice places to eat on the beach front. Overall we had a really nice holiday here. Like everyone says the price of it for 5star should say it all. So don’t expect too much. :) Ps the mini golf could do with an update

Have stayed in numerous hotels in Costa Adeje. I must say that very large hotels aren’t really my thing I like slightly smaller ones, but this place doesn’t seem too busy or overcrowded which is great.
Food wise The breakfast is plentiful, however, I would say no one asks for your room number or ticks it off a list (even though we been given cards for breakfast no one asks for them or checks them off daily so seems a pointless excercise to even issue them) so anyone could use the restaurant . Also, there is a lack of coffee machines in the restaurant, this is always a good idea to have in a busy hotel because guests inevitably want more than one cup of tea or coffee with breakfast and the number of people serving is not conducive to providing regular top ups. Apart from that it’s good.
The pool. The area is pleasant and there are plenty of comfy beds and umbrellas. I think the the fact that they monitor sunbed use and remove the towels if you leave them for a period of time is a great idea. This stops them being reserved all day.
The negatives about the pool is I feel it could do with more bar areas. Also the water is absolutely freezing !!! I love swimming and was really looking forward to a nice swim every day and a leisurely float around but that certainly won’t be happening. Shame, because for me this is the best part about being in a hotel. Compared to other hotels I’ve stayed in Costa Adeje this is by far the coldest!! 🥶🥶 If you’ve come here with babies they would not want to go in the kids pool as it’s too cold.
Rooms….the room is lovely. Nice and spacious overlooking the pool. Could do with more hangers and the fridge is nowhere cool enough to keeps drinks cold. Also, you can hear your neighbours through the wall and if they drag a chair or shut a door you can hear it. The air conditioning system is very poor for a hotel of this calibre. It is not adjustable (ie there is no operation pad in the room) at all and it seems like the building is set at just one temperature for all rooms. The only thing you can adjust is the fan speed by a knob by the bed. This isn’t too bad at the moment but I wouldn’t like to be here when it’s really hot as I don’t think it would be adequate for the room.

Not so sure it deserves 5 stars. Nice hotel, pool towels need an update, very worn and quite small. Pool freezing. Even the heated pool is doubtfully heated. People saving sun beds is a nightmare. One day 6 French people put their towels on 6 beds at 10.15 am. They went away. They came back at 4.20pm and moved the beds into the shade!!!! Rude. The rooms are clean but need a bit up dating. Trashy plastic chairs on patios ( not a 5 star thing) may look at other hotels next year ones with a heated pool!!!

I would email the hotel direct to get a real answer to your question….my answer would be I would hope they would put you next door to each other, there are larger rooms that accommodate more people, so maybe do a price comparison to see which would work out better for you… again I would email the hotel and ask the question..
The bar prices were good, as an example I think the Kopperberg was about €4.5-5 euros. We didn’t come away with a huge bill and we used the pool bar at lunchtimes too, it was under €300

All evening entertainment is held indoors…on the main reception floor…. We sat outside and played cards and watched the world go by, as hotel entertainment isn’t really our thing…
