I wrote this when in the Anthelia in October, but can’t review the same hotel until 3 months after for some weird reason. Here’s my review from October! It’s the kids October holidays, and we’re back in Tenerife and back at the Anthelia. 8 weeks ago we had approximately 40 people on the flight over, and the hotel was pretty dead. This time is much more like ‘normality’ with a near enough full flight, and the hotel feels much busier. Spain is now on Covid Level 2, (level 4 last time we visited) so a lot of restrictions have been eased. The breakfast / dinner buffet is back to normal - in that you can go help yourself to food. Make your own toast, pour your own cereal, pick your own food. Great! You’re still given a time slot for dining so that the room isn’t over crowded, which worked well at breakfast - but ended up in a huge queue at dinner time with people queuing up the stairs. Not so much use when you come down in the lift and the staff ignore you ‘skipping’ the queue. Both buffets are great, with good selections - and very helpful staff. Again, the bathroom in the room causes issues. No steady temperature in the shower, the rainfall spout is poor and continually drips cold water on your head when showering, and no lock on the toilet (not much fun when a 2 year old is opening the door all the time when you’re on the loo!). Other than that - the room is great. The hotel felt like it was almost back to normal, however the pools were much quieter than normal. No need to ‘reserve’ a lounger this time as you could go down at 10.30 and still get a reasonable choice. Still people reserving them at 8am and not appearing until 2pm though… which is annoying for anyone wanting the ‘prime spot’ their towels were on. For some reason the TV in the room always comes on at the most ridiculous volume. Always a bonus when the kids fall asleep and you want to watch something. They’re not asleep for long when it turns on at 100db!! Other than that - it’s a great hotel in a prime spot. I’d have no hesitations about coming back again as the staff and service are top level. There’s just the same few niggles that I moan about year in, year out. If only someone from the Anthelia would read this and address them, then this would be an awesome hotel!…
We went to the Iberostar Selection Anthelia for my Sisters 50th Birthday after staying there last year and everyone made it a great experience for her. When we are in Tenerife its the only hotel for us now !!!
The Iberostar Selection Athelia was amazing value for money. The duplex was exactly what we needed, the food & service was great, the Kids Club staff (/Greatest Showman actors) were amazing, especially Guada & Felipe, Ebrina on reception couldn't do enough for us & Christina at Seasoul looked after us very well. Please thank them all for us! Our toddler had the best time (better than Dubai in November)
fantastic beds, excellent and well heated swimming pool, great breakfast, friendly staff, close to the promenade for walks, entertainment available. The Calzone at the Portofino restaurant is excellent, the other dishes we had there could have been more refined. Great vacation as always. Iberostar would be our first choice if it is available at our holiday destinations.
Wonderful break. Excellent, professional and friendly staff that maintained high standards on all areas of the hotel. Every area was professionally run with efficiency and a welcome. Grounds were exceptionally clean and varied. Beautifully laid out with planting and seating and water features. Nothing was too much trouble. Enjoyable evening entertainment.
