This hotel location is so easy to walk everywhere. The full breakfast every morning was so good. Eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, pancakes, lots of fresh fruit. They know how to accommodate so many at one time. The pool area was nice and relaxing. Saltwater pool too. Our room was very nice and clean. Perfect for our vacation thy was didnā€™t have a car rental.

Overall, it was an okay stay. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Any questions we had, they were always there to help. As far as location, this hotel is basically in Little Germany. Every single store, restaurant, and bar was in German and/or catered to Germans. If youā€™re looking for a local flare or spot, you will not find it here. The resort is beachfront but Playa de Arenal is SUPER crowded. When we booked our stay, we selected sea view. However, when we arrived, our room was on floor 1 and our ā€œsea viewā€ was blocked by the pool and cabanas. We should have had a room on the higher floors. My room had ants, which stayed in a small corner of the room. Room itself was clean, bathroom shower could have been scrubbed a bit more, and bedding was somewhat comfortable. Room also seemed outdated and could have used a refresh. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet that was included but always ventured out to explore the island during the day and evening, so dinner was never on property. The hotel is 15 min from the airport, which is nice plus as well. For my next Mallorca adventure, Iā€™ll be staying somewhere else that has more of the local vibe and flare.

Dear David A, We are very grateful to you for staying with us. Nonetheless, we regret to learn that your experience did not meet your expectations as our goal is to make your stay memorable. Please note that the information provided is not sufficient, we do not know with whom the reservation was made. Much to our regret we must underline that when a reservation has been made with your booking channel, we cannot deal with it directly. It is through your booking channel that we can review what happened and give you an appropriate response. Though we manage a proper fumigation program for all our areas, it is unfortunate that we are unable to control insects at 100%. Due to the warm weather and the location of our hotel, it is possible that insects can enter our facilities. Our staff work to keep them under control, since our grounds have extensive garden areas. We fumigate continuously all areas to keep insects away from our grounds. We will share your concerns with the appropriate members of our team for improvement. Best Regards, Hotel Riu San Francisco Online Reputation Manager

We had a fantastic time at RIU San Francisco in Mallorca. Although no room with sea view or promenade was available anymore, the standard room (No. 203) convinced us completely. It was impeccably clean, the decor modern and the large walk-in shower very comfortable.

The daily emptying of the glass container below our room did not bother us ā€“ we were already awake at that time anyway. The location of the hotel is simply unbeatable, and the entire staff was always polite, helpful and attentive.

The buffets were particularly impressive: a great selection, fresh and tastefully prepared. As vegetarians, we will kindly ask for additional protein options such as soy or tofu the next time we stay.

The Ballermann also had its own charm in November: quiet, but still lively enough to enjoy the promenade.

Our conclusion: a wonderful stay in an excellently run hotel. We can recommend the RIU San Francisco without restriction and look forward to our next visit!

To start, many of the reviews for the Riu Hotel San Francisco Mallorca are actually for a hotel in the city of San Fransisco, so be wary when booking this hotel that some reviews are not for the correct location.
I stayed at the Riu Hotel San Francisco in May 2024 and it was not a great experience. To begin with, the hotel is right on the main party strip for this part of the island (frequented by German tourists) and is therefore noisy day and night. We arrived around 5pm and it was already buzzing. Our room overlooked this street, we called reception and asked for another room, we were told this wasn't possible but to check the next day, however there would be a 59 euro charge if we changed. Given that we were only staying for 3 nights, we decided not to bother. I will say that even with the balcony doors closed and all the curtains pulled, it was still extremely noisy well into the small hours (5am at least) so we didn't get much sleep.
After the first night I asked reception for an extra pillow which never arrived.
Breakfast and dinner were OK but again, as this is a German resort, most of the food is catered towards that clientele.
The rooms are very basic with only shower gel and hand wash in the bathroom. The fridge is full of minibar items which makes it difficult to store anything else. Reception tried to charge us for items used from the minibar which we didn't take, although this was rectified.
The staff were friendly enough but I think because of the poor location of the hotel, their friendliness will only go so far.
Hotel states it has a spa, this is really only a jacuzzi that has to be booked prior to wanting to use it so we never bothered.
Location is roughly 40mins by bus into Plama but beware that during peak season, buses are packed and you may have to wait for a few to pass before getting on, this also goes for a return from Palma.
Definitely would not return to this hotel and probably won't ever stay at another Riu as this has not been a great experience.

Dear guest, Thank you very much for staying with us. We appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback with us, all comments are taken into account. It is saddening to learn we were not able to control the undesirable behaviour of some guests, who seem to respect rules in their country but not when they visit ours. After all the new measures and laws that are being applied in order to stop these unwanted behaviours, that these different gorgeous destinations around the world are being abused and disrespected, by visitors that would never dare to behave in such manner in their country of origin. Please accept our apologies. Your evaluation is very helpful when applying changes and improvements. The management department will be informed, it will be discussed and we will apply the right measures. Kind Regards, Hotel Riu San Francisco Online Reputation Manager

I had read in previous reviews about (a) the noise and partying and (b) the lack of water during dinner service.

(A) I visited in March 2023 so there was no partying going on. The balcony and rooms are pretty noise resistant so even so, I did not hear much noise coming from the streets or beach walkways.

(B) It is true that there is no water even offered during dinner service. However, there is juice offered at the main island where you grab salads, cheese, devilled eggs, etc., so donā€™t worry. The first night I had blueberry smoothie juice, second was mango and the third was tomato. All were delicious.
Breakfast comes with all sorts of beverage options included. The buffet for both was amazing but dinner really blew me away. All three nights had a different main dish ā€œwowā€ meal. Was super happy and excited when dinner came around.

Well done, Riu!

Stayed in the ocean front room, #313.
Amazing sunset views. Very clean bathroom.
Refrigerator chilled the wines perfectly.

I requested a higher floor, bummed they didnā€™t accommodate that, even though it looked like there was availability.

This was a curveball booking for us, based on price mainly as we were looking to have a good value stay in the city, and to be honest thatā€™s what we got. The hotel is a little dated and absolutely packed full of tourists, this is 100% a place for people coming from all over the world to enjoy San Francisco. This it not a business hotel for business travellers, for example. The rooms are pretty spacious and everything is clean and functional, nothing to complain about. Itā€™s well located with helpful parking and easy to walk to various eateries and areas without facing any challenging hills. The most intriguing thing about this hotel is the breakfast, people go crazy for it. Itā€™s not very high quality but there is certainly quality and itā€™ll save you a lot of hassle and cash to eat here for free as part of your package. The only trade off is the queue that can form (all the Europeans are very happily up at 4am with their jet lag waiting as soon as it opens!!) so you might be waiting a while, plus it is VERY busy.

Hotel located directly on the boulevard but also between the famous beers, which means a lot of noise. Even now, in December, there was noise at night. If the naked one with front sea view, it will probably be less, but you may not be able to sleep because of the noise. The rooms are spacious, well furnished and clean. But noisy. I thought the whole hotel looked depressed, the public areas were small compared to the total number of guests, as was the pool. The dining room was very well decorated, but still provided like a small dining room because the seating space was limited for the total number of guests. The food was varied, both dinner and breakfast. The downside was that you had a thermos of coffee, so no chance for cappuccino or espresso. There was no supply of fresh croissants, but there were fresh waffles and variations of fresh eggs. All the staff were very friendly.

RIU San Francisco hotel in Mallorca runs the business of being overbooked. They charge well and then re-locate guests for the high price to lower-priced other Riu hotels nearby. Good business for Riu. Waiting already the "white-wash" of the Riu Online Reputation manager.

Dear Rene C., Thank you very much for taking the time to provide your valuable feedback from your recent experience. The information provided does not specify with whom the reservation was made. Very nice hotel. Very clean, charming and friendly staff. Varied, hearty and good breakfasts and dinners. We had a problem with our room and the change was made without problem. It is better to have a room at the front to avoid the noise of partygoers. Drinks are not included in the price of the meal but the prices are more than fair (1/2 liter rosĆ© and 1/2 bottle of sparkling water ā‚¬11.50)

We stayed before a cruise before Christmas in diesm hotel. For a RIU house and for a 4 star house we could book it really cheap. Accordingly, our rooms were also oriented. 1 floor with balcony and view to the beer king. The beer king is not exactly well attended in December, but still relatively noisy. The rooms were clean, but despite renovation you can see the age of the hotel. The pool looks great in the hotel photos, but the photographer understood his craft...In December, of course, that was not important. The location is of course very good for German holidaymakers. Some restaurants and some open shops before Christmas. Significantly quieter than in warmer months. The dining room scared us off.Significantly too small. The tables are very close to each other. And the live kitchen mists the whole room with smells. The food selection, however, is good and also tasty. Something for everyone. The service is good and nice! The breakfast we found to be just satisfying.Almost always the same quite narrow selection. Also the quality of the goods offered were only satisfactory. We could not unfortunately book an upgrade to sea view because of the fully booked hotel. Conclusion for us is that price performance is okay. But a 14 day holiday I could not spend here. We know some RIU houses that are recommended. This is not one of them.In front of the hotel is a bus stop for which you can drive to Palma for 2 euros.
