The hotel is about 15 to 20 minutes from the airport and a taxi was €17.
We stayed in a sea view room which was great. The rooms are a good size with a couch area as well as the bed. The beds are quite firm so we asked for a mattress topper, which was installed quickly. There is a safe which was free of charge. The only drawback to the room is the open bathroom concept which doesn’t give you much privacy (shower and toilet both have frosted glass doors, but no door to the bathroom area).
The pool area has a good selection of sunny and shaded areas. The hotel was at 80% occupancy but we had no difficulty getting a lounger. There is a €10 per pool towel deposit which is returned to you when you check out. Pool towels can be changed daily for fresh ones at reception.
We had a bed & breakfast booking. The buffet included a variety of hot items such as eggs, bacon, hash browns and baked beans, as well as fruit, yogurt, bread, pastries, cold cuts and cheese. Everything was well prepared and tasty. We had lunch at the pool bar a few times, proving approximately €8 for a burger or club sandwich type meal with chips. This is a great option for lunch. A buffet is also available in the restaurant for dinner but we preferred to explore the local area. Some nearby favourites included El Patio, My Thai, Ginger and Mojitos. These are all within 10 minutes walk of the hotel.
There are many shops nearby including massage, nail bars, supermarkets and rental facilities for bikes/scooters/jet skis. You can take a bus from behind the hotel into Palma for €1.50 (buy ticket from the driver). This was a great way to do a bit of sightseeing and I highly recommend visiting the Cathedral.
The hotel had Covid safe measures in place including mandatory mask wearing in public areas, and very thorough room cleaning. Covid testing is available daily for €45 booked through reception and results were available in 15 minutes. We appreciated these measures and always felt safe.
All of the staff were lovely and very helpful, especially Xisco in the restaurant and all the front desk staff. All spoke excellent English.
Overall we very much enjoyed our stay at Hotel Negresco and would definitely stay here again.
The hotel itself was spotless, from entrance to reception to bar, pool terrace, restaurant, corridors and rooms. All of the staff that we met were friendly and attentive, and Xisco who is the restaurant maitre d' was excellent - very good with his staff as well as with the customers, which is always a good thing.
We went for the "superior panoramic" room, and I'm glad that we did and would recommend it. As the name suggests, it gave a glorious panoramic view across the whole of the Bay of Palma, and as the room faces roughly southwest we had the sun on our balcony all day (side rooms would be facing roughly east or west, so only in the sun half of the day). The room was a decent size, and the bed was extremely comfortable. My only minor gripes would be that a small drawer unit in addition to the wardrobe would be useful, and I wasn't that keen on the toilet light being, shall we say, motion activated, which might disturb your partner during the night. An elastoplast over the sensor does the trick though!
It's a pleasant stroll west to C'an Pastilla and its marina, and a slightly longer one to Arenal and its marina. Arsenal is very dated looking, like a throwback to the 1970s, but the walk to each is good and there are some good restaurants and bars among the not so nice ones.
We thoroughly enjoyed the Negresco.
The spa is small but brand new. Rooftop is a nice plus, and I had the chance to see the good vibe on the tropical party last Sunday.
A dance show one night. A nice surprise and talented people.
Restaurant : breakfast is very good (quality on Sunday a bit down compared to other days), and menu for drinks/ snacks is priced reasonably. Staff very friendly.
Cleaning lady : impeccable service
Few suggestions :
- when a client pays a superior room, balcony with bed lounges etc… asking him to pay 3 euros / day for a kettle in the room is a bit… odd and off putting especially for a 4 star hotel. It should be included. Full stop.
- opening/ closing hours for the roof top and the pool could be more extensive
On the area itself, this is THE area for german/ Dutch people, so restaurants around have adjusted music/ prices / menu accordingly. You are in a very touristy area, forget the authenticity.
Beach is clean/ public / you can pay for a lounge bed/ umbrella for 12 euros a day.
The staf especially in the reception was extremely nice, friendly and helpfull.
We felt really welcome during the hole visit and even after check out. Because our flight was in the evening we were allowed to leave our luggage in the storage and use the hotel until then. We were also able to use the shower in the spa downstairs before going to the field.
This beautiful stylish hotel is right on the beach. There is 2 pools, one in the roof terrace and the other in front of the hotel with easy access to the beach. They also provided beach towells for deposit (10€)
The both bus stops to the Palma are close the hotel (nr. 25 and 23 goes there with 2€/price). The air conditioning worked well in our room and troughout the hole hotel. Our room had safe and fridge but no kettle ( we brought our own) We really enjoyed our stay and would choose this hotel again next time without hesitation.
We had the Panoramic superior sea view room . What a joy of a view each morning even when the weather was dull.
The hotel is spotless .
The staff were so helpful , especially the man greeting breakfast staff . Breakfast was super . Fabulous coffee . Lots of choice .
We would usually avoid hotel
Menus unless it was for breakfast but the lunch here was just great & very reasonable . The vegan burger was scarily meat- like … but the lovely gentleman server assured us it was not meat & even checked the kitchen just to be 100% . It was actually the Spanish plant based protein..”Huera” !
Being 8 minutes from the airport & 30
Seconds from the beach , this place is a winner !
The bar could do with softer light by night , it’s a too bright and clinical . Some soft furnishings would
Reduce the noise &
Cosy it up , but with so much choice on the promenade it’s not an issue
The hotel felt very secure in regards to the Corona pandemic. Sliding doors, breakfast buffet handled by staff, extra cleaning in the common areas. All staff wearing face masks.
Our superior room (more expensive) had the best view and a very large teracce but the furniture didn't match the pictures of the hotel. After a couple of days it was almost fixed. The teracce was unfortunately very windy during our stay. Still marvelous view!
Very friendly staff overall but I would like to especially mention Nicole in the Reception and Manu at the Bar.
One major backdraw is that the hotel allows smoking everywhere outdoors with doors fully open so the smoke gets inside as well.
