I was working on an analogy of how a car with rust and dings will still get you places. Marina is a hotel with some dings, admittedly, but it doesn't affect the location, cleanliness or the friendliness of the staff. You can't beat the location of this hotel. It's facing the beach with a street (with light usage) inbetween. There's a promenade that goes for miles, and lots of bike rental places for those of you who are active. I had expected LOTS of noise in the evening/night since it's an active area, but surprisingly wasn't disturbed by anything. The staff at the front desk were welcoming and accomodating. I had asked for a specific style of room and this was done. They were always cheery with a greeting and helpful with any questions. The staff taking care of the cleaning were amazing. The rooms were spotless. The people taking care of the dining area were efficient, but not overly friendly. However, they worked mornings, nights, days in the bar... seemingly 20 hours a day, so "efficient" is just fine with me. I opted for half board. Keep in mind this is a very small hotel, so the food choices are not going to be huge. Having said that, the meals were decent, especially breakfasts. I was happy with the dinners, but I do not have a delicate palate and will eat anything. As mentioned, the amount of different foods offered will not be vast due to the fewer number of guests. Half board did not include any beverages, including water. If you are picky with food, there are tons of restaurants in the area. Finally, if you are into asthetics, there are many little "dings" in this hotel. A little chunk of wood missing here, some silver coming off the mirror there, a scratch in the wallpaper somewhere else. You will see things if you look. I didn't care. The staff, cleanliness and location made up for all of it. I would gladly stay here again. In fact, I look forward to it!…

Stayed here with my family for a week in August. We checked in late at night and had a quick check in at main reception. When we arrived at the room, we were pleasantly surprised. The room was spotless and very spacious with a large bedroom and sofa bed made up in the living area. They had also left a plate of ham, cheese, eggs, bread and a bottle of water in the fridge which was a lovely touch. We had room 1307 so not one of the renovated rooms but was fine for our stay. We opted for half board. Food was really nice and plenty of choice both for breakfast and evening dinner. Lots of fresh fruit and salad. Fresh omelettes in a morning and different meats and side dishes available in the evening. Plenty of puddings too. Hotel staff were pleasant and the entertainment team worked hard although a little repetitive at times. There are 3 pools. One with a pirate ship which was fun for the kids. Unfortunately the pool area was a bit small for the number of apartments and being August, the hotel was full. If you do want a sun bed, you need to get up early as there is a limited selection by 7.30am as people often place their towels to reserve them. The hotel has predominately German and Dutch guests which for us was a nice mix. It is located in a lovely area. Definitely worth a walk to the beach. We went towards Cala bona but the beach area was a little rocky. May be best going towards Cala milor for a more friendly child beach. We hired a car so had more options and it was cheaper than airport transfers. Would definitely stay here again although possibly not in high season. …

Spent 10 days here, no problems. Very clean room, fresh towels every day. Went for the half board option but did not eat there every night. They could do with livening up the atmosphere in the dining area, very maudlin music played in a dreary, basement dining area. The resort itself is rather lairy. Obviously a popular 'stag night' location for young Germans. Very busy with traffic, plagued by 'looks looky' men. Offered drugs as soon as we arrived. San Miguel cheaper than water which means the bars are empty and everyone is drinking in the street. On the plus side the Palma Express bus runs frequently for only 1.5 euro each way.

Palma in Majorca is like a hybrid between a city break and a beech holiday. Just like Barcelona it seems to have everything from culture in the beautiful old town, with the magnificent cathedral, to the modern shopping district and not forgetting the beautiful beach and marina. Definitely recommend the purpose built cycle track which goes all along the sea front apparently on to Magaluf although we didn't cycle that far. Absolutely gorgeous destination.

The marina is a lovely area for a stroll next to a beach and convenient for local restaurants and bars. If you walk to the left of the marina you will find a quiet beach area for some peaceful sunbathing.

Recently stayed at the hotel Marina Playa and could not fault it . A perfect place to relax and unwind . The hotel was very clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly . The breakfast was included in the price and it offered a wide selection in its buffet . The hotel is a short distance away from Palma city ,but a regular bus service operates from the front of hotel which is great for those who like to shop . I would definitely stay at this hotel again !!

Marina is an indeed mixed bag. Firstly let’s look at the positives. Location is just outstanding – bang in the centre, 40m from the beach with loads of restaurants and shops around, while still being quiet and away enough from the heavy party places. Bike rental, scooters, excursions, scuba diving, whatever you like – choice is just fantastic. On the roof 2 areas for sun bathing with a (oki it is small) pool. To top it off – a stunning view. Marina has everything going for it in these departments. Time for the downsides, and sadly there are quite a few. In simple terms the place is quite ran down – whatever you touch is dated. Furniture, towels, floors, door handles, cutlery – all remembers mid-80’s at best. The hotel is cluttered with all sorts of out of place objects – 2 mailboxes at the reception with a diner style cigarette dispenser, the whole place is sprinkled with non-smoking signs as well as ‘escape route’ which in some cases don’t really add up. Now it is time for the biggest hits – the dining area (strike 1). As mentioned Marina is at the waterfront with a view second to none. What the management has decided is to have the dining area in the basement with no windows and a feeling of being in a submarine. As a result guests get the unique opportunity to admire various things the hotel has collected over the years (eg clay figurines in lighted cabinets), 5 different types of lamps which in no way fit any style, a death blue bug zapper, ice cream freezer double hatting for a coffee table – and all that over very low quality food served for breakfast. Meanwhile, a massive front dining area on the ground floor is occupied by a lonely tourist sipping a cappuccino and seeing diddly squat as there are massive umbrellas in from the of the hotel. Food quality (at least for breakfast) was very low – fair selection, but quality is just bottom shelf. Hotel offers dinner – for a whopping 8euro; keeping in mind a menu at burger king is ~7euro, we decided not to try our luck. (Strike 2) Now it is time for the biggest turn off we got – it is the social conscious of the hotel. On 2 occasions we were disturbed by howling dogs left by neighbours (one can only feel sorry for the poor animals left for the whole day on the balconies sometimes without water while the temperature hits 33). Not speaking Spanish we asked for help – at the reception we were advised to take care of it ourselves, alternatively if we really insisted the clerk at the desk could call for folks from animal welfare however we are to speak to them and the hotel will invoice us for this call. Don’t get me wrong – on any other occasion the staff was SUPER nice and helpful. I don’t know how you feel about pets and animals, but I do not tolerate any form of being evil to animals and not willing to go the extra mile to help them. This is where Marian let me and my wife down. Strike 3! One can argue if this is the hotel’s business to save the world, you’ll be the judge of that. From experience I have seen other hotels I stayed in react properly. But that’s only me……

Perfect location, excellent view, clean room, towels changed daily, staff very nice and helpful and could speak english. What could have been better: the food (but in some evenings there were very good specialities served). The pool is small, but when your hotel is 10m from the beach, who needs a pool anyway? Probably the best 3 star hotel I ever stayed.
