We stayed here for 1 night, room 1141, this was a standard able room, cost 166 euro, approximately £140. The room was ok, situated at a nice, quiet end of the complex with not much passing staff/customers. The quality of towels in the room were appalling, old, thin, hard, hardly befitting the price of the room. There is a 2 euro charge per night to use the inroom safe, given the price of the room we didn't expect to be paying additional costs for this. The breakfast was ok, the coffee quite nice, the bacon had more fat than meat, even I couldn't eat this. Reception staff were pleasant when we dealt with them. If the room was 40/50 euro's less, we would have given a 4 star, but, because of the cost, we expected much better, glad we only stayed the 1 night.

This was my third visit Rooms where very clean and nice..No bottle water on arrival. We arrived late at night so missed the evening meal the Salad they give us was disgusting we could not eat it.The food in the restaurant was not up to usaul standard. The Dining Room staff where very nice and friendly As for The Reception Desk there was one lovely Lady with a blonde ponytail hair who was very nice and helpful .Always look forward to holiday at Las Coatas but never ever again as the rest of the staff on Reception are very rude and have no manners they need training on customer services very disappointed never return again.

Having stayed in Las Costas on many occasions I can't believe I'm saying never again but this was a vastly different experience to previous years Understandably, the small touches were absent ie free welcome drink; free wine and water in the room ,presumably due to Covid but why still advertise them ?? We love this hotel due to its location, cleanliness good food and happy friendly staff .While location and cleanliness are still the same ,the standard and variety of food was vastly inferior to previous years .Having booked half board,we ended up eating out every second day at least . But ,its the ridiculous situation with pool towels that really set me off !! Having been told that they were to be collected at the pool ,we duly did so ..giving the pool guy our tickets for same ..A few day later, when I went to exchange them I was refused as I didn't have correct tickets .On enquiry at reception, I was given a dressing down by an extremely rude receptionist, who wouldn't listen to me,wouldn't believe I hadn't been given the exchange tickets on booking in ...accused me of breaking the rules which MUST BE obeyed , told me I couldn't be changing towels every day (; wouldn't believe this was my first day trying to exchange them ) I have never before seen such a reaction to a simple enquiry All this in front of other guests!! Eventually, she gave me tickets to exchange the towels ,but warned me that was it !! Embarrassed and quite honestly humiliated I fully intended to see the manager but she was unavailable at the time .. More was to come ...2 days before we were due to check out ...we got the usual letter re check out times etc .As this is usually left in the room the day before you check out I immediately went to reception to point out the error . BUT ,despite me showing my booking e mail which clearly stated day and date of check out ,she insisted I was only booked for 9 nights not 10 and as they were fully booked there was no room available!! We were told she would phone us when she could discuss with her manager .You can imagine how we felt ,waiting to see if we had to spend out second last day looking for a new hotel ...Eventually, we were told they could provide a room ,but a different one for our last day at a cost .Much was made of a slight reduction on the price of this room ,which still was much more expensive than our original price. After lots of discussion, we eventually agreed to pay the extra ,as we really had no choice .At all times, the hotel at most would only accept there were errors on both sides ....It seemed the only thing they cared about was getting paid for the room ....which was then discounted again ...but not money we had budgeted for . Next morning, having just finished backing to move out of the room ,I got a lovely phone call from reception (Reneta I think) saying no need to pack ,we could stay in the same room .We also met the same lovely lady on check out and she apologised for the problem that had occurred....The first apology we got !!!! We are not people that cause problems or complain but on holiday you really don't expect management to treat customers the way we were treated .. For the first time ever ,I was happy to be leaving the hotel ....

This hotel has a good location next to the beach, short walk to a bus and taxi stop. A couple of supermarkets are a short walk away as are a number of bars and restaurants. The hotel room was a good size, modern and clean and we had a terrace with a view of the sea. There are limited sun beds around the pool and although they say it is prohibited to reserve beds, this was not enforced and so we had little opportunity (except cloudy cool days) to get a sunbed by the pool. The restaurant gets very busy and it can be difficult to find a table. If you arrive later for breakfast there was often a shortage of cups, teapots, etc. Choice can be limited at both breakfast and dinner unless you arrive early, as replenishment seems slow. The buffet food is very repetitive. If you like to have a limited choice of a grilled fish, meat, canarian potatoes or rice and veg every day then this is the hotel for you, There are other dishes, but the buffet was very uninspiring and the quality not fantastic. As we were half board we tended to have a decent restaurant meal at lunchtime and a smaller meal /snack from the hotel buffet in the evening. The food outside in the restaurants we found to be signiificantly better. One of our party required gluten free food, we we're impressed with how the restaurants outside the hotel catered for this, but the hotel was disappointing. There was bread / cereal available at breakfast and you could pre order pizza / pasta a day in advance for dinner. The buffet set up is not great if you have allergies or intolerance. The food is not labelled with allergens. If you ask the chefs they do not know or are not clear. What you do get given is a lever arch ring binder that does have the food and the allergens and you have to work it out for yourself. Sometimes they just give you the folder, sometimes they will point out a specific page which is supposedly the menu for that day, however this does not always appear to be the same food as is available on the buffet. So, its better than nothing, but the staff seem to be poorly informed. Not great and it doesn't give you confidence about what you can and cannot eat. At your table in the evening you can order wine and they will offer to save it for the next day if you do not finish it. We did this twice, each time the next day the white wine came back and it wasn't chilled and was spoiled. The first time it was only a small amount left and so we weren't too bothered, the second time it was more than half a bottle and it was undrinkable so a waste of money. Overall the restaurant seemed to be operating over capacity or understaffed, but the staff did work hard and were very friendly. This is a criticism more aimed at management than the restaurant staff, who always appeared to want to do their best for you. The hotel seems to be very popular with those of an older age group and families with small children. Overall from the reviews I've read I expected more. The hotel room was great but overall the experience was just okay. We did enjoy our holiday, but I don't feel that I can rate this hotel as anything more than average. Our restaurant and poolside experience needed to have been much better to get a better review rating.

Dear Mr. Sams29, Thank you for choosing Las Costas hotel for your holidays in Lanzarote. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed thanks to our location, room size and cleanliness, and for the kidness of the staff. We are sorry for the inconveniences with the sundbeds. We ask all our guests to please not book sunbeds so that all can have the same consitions. Both the lifeguard and the manager every day takes all the towels of the empty sunbeds. Nevertheless, we are not police and someimes is also complicated and frustracting for us if guests reserve sunbeds even if they know it is forbiden. In relation to the alergies, we have a folder with all the information of all our menus so that guests can check. We can not put this information on the cards as there is know space for it. We offer a buffet menu, and for all gluten free guests we have several options. In case you want something special we always try our best to do it so that everyone fells comfortable. once again thank you for your time and comments and sorry for all the inconveniences. Best regards
