Wanting a break from the hustle & bustle of the city life, I decided to book at Tugela River Lodge & it was a great idea! We booked the Hideaway, a spacious 6 sleeper chalet, with its private braai area & kitchen. The bathroom could do with a bit renovations, especially to the shower, but overall it was a great...

We arrived at Tugela having travelled all day. We were greeted with a beautiful thatched lodge on the banks of the river - pure bliss. Runs along the tree lined river banks, canoeing on the river and the most beautiful chorus of birds I have ever heard. We were hosted so well by Claire (and Bheki with all the practical...

The location is perfect, as your balcony overlooks the wide Tugela River, with Spioenkop to the north. I stayed in the Hideaway. The stone walls and thatch provided great insulation, keeping me cool during the day and warm at night. So often self-catering kitchens are grubby and pokey, but the Hideaway (6 sleeper) is open, neat, clean and all that...

Spent a night here to celebrate a friends 40th birthday in December 2014 - what a great venue! The cottage we stayed in was a spacious two bedroom, although it must be noted that the steps to the upstairs room are very steep - not ideal for small children, but we coped with it. The lodge is within easy reach...

Brilliant for a group getaway! The staff were great, the scenery spectacular and the accommodation comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tugela River Lodge, it has easy access to the battlefields, brilliant mountain biking and the perfect place to get away from the rat race.

I met up with several friends at the Tugela river lodge for the weekend. It is spectacularly located on the banks of the river with great mountain biking routes of varying degrees of difficulty. The units are comfortable, clean and well equipped. The stone and thatch give it an earthy rustic feel. The central dining area has a fantastic outside...

We had our annual family weekend at the Tugela River Lodge and all 17 of us had a great time. The accommodation is rustic but clean and lacking nothing. Not many lodges can accommodate such a large group but the central lodge had enough table space and cutlery for everyone. Th place gets cleaned every morning and all the dishes...

We spent three great evenings at the lodge and rode our mountain bikes at the berg and bush bike race. The lodge is located in the most amazing place with a beautiful view of the tugela river and Spioenkop mountain. We took the opportunity to ride our bikes directly from the lodge to the emseni camp along a magical trail...

We recently stayed at the Tugela River Lodge and used it as a base for a 3 day mountain bike race. Wonderful clean affordable accommodation looking over the Tugela River. Although the accommodation is rustic it is very clean and comfortable with a central entertainment area that can take several families. It is minutes away from one of the most...

Our group of 14 mates enjoyed the privilege of staying on the banks of the Tugela and using this as a base for exploring the beautiful scenery of the Spionkop Area mostly from the seat of our mountain bikes during the BnB Descent. Some did take in the view from closer to the ground as there were few wipeouts as...
