Nice bright refurbished modern room. Easy to find. Easy secure parking. Only reasons not five stars - memory foam type bed a bit too squishy and warm for my tastes, but also poor communication. We'd asked to eat there when we booked only to be told when we arrived that the restaurant wasn’t open that night (Easter Monday). They did suggest a nearby restaurant which was very good.

We had a lovely room with our dogs...a delicious supper..the fish meal of the day which was cod beautifully cooked. The area was quiet and there were good walks for dogs. There is a car park opposite the hotel so parking is secure.

Still in parts something of a work in progress we found this hotel to be different enough to be delightful, modern enough to be interesting and cheap enough to be a bargain, all topped off with a truly superb restaurant used by hotel clients and locals alike, and known as La Table d'Eliane. Our room, fitted with new windows, was clean, bright and comfortable, attractive décor (even down to the door handles) and nicely furnished using bright colours, with air-con, TV with BBC1 (but nothing else for the travelling Brit), an excellent modern bathroom/shower plus free Wi-Fi. And there's a large free car park just across the road from this easily identifiable pink palace. Minor quibbles - (1) no kettle-based room facilities, (2) no lift. To get to a second floor room with two heavy suitcases in your 60's is not a welcoming factor, and (3) why are beds made in such a way that you have to remake them before you can get in? Nearby Thiers is worth a visit although outside the old historical centre it's a bit of a dump. It's the knife making capital of France and every other shop seems to be a knife shop or knife sharpener. We toured round in Le Petite Train from which you can touch the walls of properties on both sides of some of the narrow two way streets. But don't misread the train signs. It implies there's an English commentary but you'll only get that if the majority of passengers are English. We felt cheated by the misleading signs. The knife theme continues in the hotel with knifes for sale, including world famous Sabatier ones, artfully displayed in glass cabinets in the reception area. All in all an attractive hotel that we'd be happy to visit again.

We stayed at the Eliotel in Peschadoires on twice in a week en route to and from Italy. Our first stay was fine, but when we left we forgot to take our travel kettle with us. When we returned for our second night, as we checked in we asked about our kettle and were told that it wasn't there, we must have left it elsewhere. As this was the first hotel we stayed in en route we know we had it then and when we got to our next hotel on the next night we realised that we didn't have it with us and had left it Eliotel. Their information folder said that if guests left anything behind it would be kept for up to 12 months. As we were returning in 7 days (this night had already been booked at the same time as the first) we didn't feel it necessary to phone to tell them that we had left it behind. We told the owner/manager that we had definitely left it there & she grudgingly went to look for it in the room we had stayed in on our previous visit. Not surprisingly it wasn't there, we wouldn't have expected it to still be in the room from the previous week. We asked if maybe it was put away in a cupboard somewhere. We were told that it wasn't there, we hadn't left it there but, if we wanted to, we could ask the woman who cleaned the rooms when she came in to work at 7.30am, the next day. The next morning we paid our bill at 7.40 and asked the owner/manager if the cleaning lady had arrived so that we could ask her about the kettle. At that point he exploded, started shouting very loudly that it wasn't there, that we hadn't left it there, that it was our own fault that we had lost it, he was far too busy seeing to customers to be bothered with us and we were the most difficult customers he had ever had to deal with. He is a large man and being shouted at by him was very intimidating and his behaviour was upsetting, embarrassing and totally unacceptable. We left the hotel with his shouting ringing in our ears. As we went out we met the lady who cleaned the rooms, she immediately went to the owner/manager, told him to go into another room and calm down (making us think that this kind of behaviour wasn't unusual) she then said that she knew exactly which item we were talking about, went to a cupboard, bought out our travel kettle and gave it to us with a smile. Although we are English we have lived in France for over 10 years and can speak French perfectly well enough to be understood and to understand what is being said to us (or shouted at us). We are appalled at the treatment we were given at this hotel. After our first stay at the Eliotel we were sent an e-mail asking us to leave feedback/review our stay, which we did. We have received no such e-mail following our second stay, obviously only positive feedback is required.
