First time @GHV and expectations were exceeded. Very well maintained - building, lobby, restaurant, rooms. Nice decor. Big and airy room, very comfy bed. Cons, maybe really at summer lack of air-con could be an problem.

Needed a place in Viljandi for one night, booked half a day before arrival. It was off-season, but still the price was very reasonable for two persons with breakfast. Breakfast was excellent, the atmosphere of the hotel is very nice (and Viljandi is also very nice, especially at autumn). Beds were very good. I'm very picky about softness of the... More

We have stayed at Grand Hotel several times. Rooms are clean, comfortable and quiet. Windows can be opened and the view of the town is pretty. All major attractions are within walking distance (not the railroad station, however). Breakfast choices are good, cakes and sushi always fresh. It is probably true that there is no air conditioning but we haven't... More

We only had one night in Viljandi and found this hotel to be ideally situated for exploring the old town, castle and lake on foot. Our room, 218, was a good size, the beds were on the soft side but comfortable and it was a pleasure to sleep with the windows open (yes, it was very quiet and this was... More

Nice room with a lovely, spacious bathroom. No air conditioning, but we had our windows to the backyard, so we could keep them open all night and it was cool and quiet. The beds were too soft to be comfortable. The breakfast was excellent - there was even sushi available, and some very nice layer cake.

Everything else was good, but there were no air-condition and the room was very hot, we open the window but then there was a lot of noise coming next door dance club. Breakfast was really great and extra 10 points for having really cafe machine.

Very nice hotel in city centre, I would recommend it without a shadow of doubt. Breakfasts are super good. Restaurant was also very tasty but last time being there i heard they decided to close it for the evenings. Anyway i stay there every my biz trip - see you there :-)

From the outside the hotel looks a little dated, but the reception area and rooms are remarkably nice. The only drawback was the room has no airconditioning, but a pedestal fan was waiting which with an open window as well during the night, did nothing to cool down the room. The location was perfect for me to attend a concert... More

Do not accept a room adjacent to the night club Friday or Saturday night. You have been warned. Reception staff helpfull, but changing rooms at 3 in the morning with a splitting headache is no joke. The hotel was nearly empty we could have been allocated any other room, therefore this review.

We have a nice tradition to visit Viljandi during folk festival in July so we did this year as well. First time I booked hotel in the center as on this time we had 3 y old child with us. Unfortunately, I was late with booking and missed a chance to have a suite, there is no AC-s in other... More

“If you prefere more quiet room, then courtyard. There is a nightclub by the hotel and on weekends it is pretty loud. Our room was on backside of the house, but we still heard some music. But our windows were opened too. And it takes us to next "problem". When it is hot and sunny outside, you might want a room facing to the courtyard again. Some rooms have air conditioner, but not all. And if your room is facing to the front side of the hotel, it gets really hot. Our room was 212 and it was good. It is at the end of the coridor and it has one connecting room next to it. So if you don´t like neighbours, in that room they are only on one side! :)”
