I enjoyed my recent one night stay at the hotel. Good meals, great lager, great wifi, good room. My wife thought that the bed cover could do with a wash, but that the only main criticism, overall a positive experience. The bed was comfy. The landlady (who had a remarkable work ethic) was friendly but the waitress was somewhat glum,... More

I had Lamb Henry and my husband had a small hamburger, which was so big we couldn't eat it all. The lamb was tender and had a beautiful sauce and came with mashed, potatoes and lots of veggies. We also had a beer and a bottle of cider. The prices were good too. We both left food in our plates. Really... More

We live a mile away from this wonderful hotel. It has been refurbished beautifully without losing the old charm. We took friends for an evening meal and were much impressed with the friendly atmosphere and the quality of the food. Would recommend it to all. Great menu.

Chose after looking at the reviews and am very glad we did. Very friendly welcome from the owners and a guided tour of the building. There is now a lovely new conservatory with hill views for breakfast, and it makes a lovely restaurant in the evening. There is also a large outside decking area with seating and parasols. Inside the... More

Stopped for 2 nights in the annex. Very comfy room and good value for money in this area. Owners were very welcoming. Lots of parking. Beautiful extension on the back to enjoy breakfast and dinner. Good range of beers and nice food. Will be coming back.

Came here for one night and it is beautifully situated in the country side with lovely views from the front and back! We had food and drinks both were delicious and very satisfying after a walk up Scaffle Pike. The room we had was fairly spacious with a full ensuite. A lovely night.

Came here for an evening meal. It's a quiet hotel/pub just less than a mile away from our base "Carleton Green" Lovely little place for a meal or drink. Staff very friendly and the Portions were brilliant. We ordered the Lamb Steaks and a few drinks. Very reasonable price as well. Definitely recommend this place!!

Stayed for two nights in July 2016. The couple who run it are very friendly and made us very welcome. I was with my young son and they made him really welcome. The food was really good, with plentiful portions. I had the chicken curry one night which was excellent. There was a good range of beers, including a local... More

Children's meals are included on our menu as a concession and are priced on the basis of accompanying a main meal order. It is unrealistic for an adult to expect to pay four pounds for a main meal and we do not offer this as an option. There are numerous Vegetarian options available but perhaps the reviewer was unwilling to... More
