I have to say this is my hardest review to write yet! To be honest the room for the price was shocking! Too much furniture, dirty bathroom and generally drab. But the water was hot and good pressure and we had nesting swallows outside our windows hence cleaning the windows were not an option! We were in the heart of... More

Small, quirky ( creaking floorboards) country inn. Would be a great place to be stranded because of bad weather. Lots of good beers, piping hot, freshly prepared pub food. Wi-fi. Comfortable bed, power shower

Well, this was our 3rd Anniversary, being married in this lovely Inn on the 9.8.2013. Like our 1st & 2nd, there's nowhere else we could plan to be. Because we like The Bridge Inn so much, we keep an eye on the other reviews left about it and always find 'some of them' quite surprising. There are those who comment... More

We enjoyed a family weekend here. I especially enjoyed that there was a little lounge to relax in. The bar was great and served the same menu as the restaurant as well as an interesting choice of beers. The staff were friendly and vigilant in looking out for visitors' needs. The food was better than average and generous portions. Good... More

We eat here quite a lot with and without our dogs. We have always found the food to be very good and the staff always pleasant. It is situated in a lovely area and we drive from Whitehaven to eat here. I have noted some comments re dogs in the bar - I don't know what some people expect, it's... More

Four of us ate here last night and I have to say the staff and food were very good. We have history with this place - we got married here 7 years ago and had the amazing time. It's sad to read that the updating that it needed hasn't been done, and the damage done by the agency chefs. Our... More

My family and I were really looking forward staying here in July. There is not a lot I can say about this place. Rooms dreadful, dated, not clean uncomfortable. Bathrooms mouldy and dirty. We only stayed 2 nights to break up our journey traveling back home from Scotland, I wish we hadn't bothered. Food reheated, tasteless and over rated, didn't... More

Grrrr! ate Having passed by the inn previously we decided to give it a try, so we connected the reception and booked a table in the restaurant. for 7pm. The Inn is an attractive remnant from the coaching days with out side seating within the gardens with ample car parking opposite. On entering the pub it still retains its old... More

Now where do I start so many things wrong. Walked into the place ordered a pint of lager and a sparkling water he brought the water and said the price I gave him a £10 note he gave me the change then walked off into the back I had to shout him back and asked where my lager was "... More

Lovely stay, bit disapointed with bedroom very small but it is an old property, a little overpriced, 90 a double room, 75 would have been more reasonable. Stayed for 3 nights bed linen not changed and ran out of toilet paper. Breakfast was nice apart from out of date cereal and lack of fruit, which I mentioned and which then... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The award-winning Bridge Inn, once a modest mail coach’s halt, is now a fine, well-situated, comfortable country inn offering hospitality to all travelers and visitors being close to Wastwater (Britain’s favourite view) and Scafell. Well behaved dogs are also welcome. The Western Lakes and Fells are spectacular and here in this quiet valley there is still the peace and tranquility that should be Lakeland. There are still more sheep than people!!! Excellent "REAL" food, "REAL" Ales, Log Fires and a "reet good welcome." Standards of accommodation today's travelers expect. "Home from home for the tired business person and the weary fell walker." ... more   less
