We had a lovely 2 night stay here. The charming inn is clean and comfortable, but remember it a very old pub so don't expect it to be all shiny and new. The room was very comfortable with modern beds and bedding and a very modern bathroom. The staff are very polite and helpful nothing is to much trouble. The... More

Ordered hot beverages before ordering lunch, 2 teas 3 coffee. Tea bag in bottom of a cup half filled with water, once tea bag was removed you were left with a quarter of a cup of strong tea, and no where to put a used tea bag, no pot of hot water, very disappointing. Coffee was stone cold. Almost £12... More

Called in to the Bridge Inn for a pint after a full day out driving around the best part of Lakeland. A Pint! Where do you start? There are so many to choose from. This is a friendly watering hole with a traditional feel and friendly staff. Only had the time for one as we were in the car, but... More

The pub and rooms are drab and in need of a full refurbishment, our room was painted a grubby yellow with flaking paint on the windows and holes from tv brackets etc in the walls. Sleep quality was very poor as the large lights on the front of the pub were kept on all night and shone through our window.... More

Visited to attend a wedding held in pub. The staff were very helpfull and friendly, but the food was only average it could have been better. The accommodation was OK but a little tired it could do with an fresh coat of paint. It was also a bit pricey but thats what you expect in the Lake District.

Apparently good menu, "specials" don't change much. Quality of the food is poor, dishes lack appropriate spice and flavour. Adult portions are small. The kitchen seems to cook to a tight budget though the prices are high. If you have a choice don't eat here. One of our party had bubble and squeak - coleslaw in mayonnaise !

Visited this lovely pub today for their fab carvery! Again it was absolutely superb! The kids menu went down a storm once again. The staff were very friendly and great with the kids! The cheese board we had after was fantastic and plenty for two people! Would recommend anyone to pop in and enjoy the great food!

Stayed at neighboring campsite. Bad bad bad food at premium prices. Service also not the best. Stick to your BBQ on campsite. Been here several years earlier, when food was good. Gone downhill since...............................................................................................................................................................................................................

We came across this place by accident. In the middle of nowhere, We were trying to see if we could drive through to Windermere. We saw the pub with people sitting outside in the sun and decided to stop. We considered staying the night but were not very impressed by the inside of the building and the atmosphere. A lot... Stayed here for 2 nights with my daughter, we both came down from Scotland to climb Scafell Pike. I really enjoyed my stay. We loved the location, the room was fab, and I loved the whole place. The staff are lovely, the food is great, and the bar was great. I watched the football in their big screen room. Definitely... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The award-winning Bridge Inn, once a modest mail coach’s halt, is now a fine, well-situated, comfortable country inn offering hospitality to all travelers and visitors being close to Wastwater (Britain’s favourite view) and Scafell. Well behaved dogs are also welcome. The Western Lakes and Fells are spectacular and here in this quiet valley there is still the peace and tranquility that should be Lakeland. There are still more sheep than people!!! Excellent "REAL" food, "REAL" Ales, Log Fires and a "reet good welcome." Standards of accommodation today's travelers expect. "Home from home for the tired business person and the weary fell walker." ... more   less
