Stayed here recently with a friend after climbing Scafell Pike. A great spot to stay as it's only 10 drive from Wasdale head. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere in the bar to relax in after a day out on the fells. Good beers and wine. Food was really good - both dinner and breakfast. The room was spot on...

My husband and I have just spent the last four nights at The Bridge Inn and we have loved every minute of our stay. We have been staying at The Bridge for eight years now - we were even married here three years ago. We love everything about this place - the atmosphere, the staff, the food etc. We regard...

We have visited for food several times recently. The food has always been excellent and yesterday's visit was no exception, very well cooked, very generous portions and friendly staff. Can't wait for our next visit.

We visited the inn for two nights in late October (beautiful time to visit the lake district!). We were a little unhappy with being on the front of the inn above the benches as we feared we would get smokers below (room 2). After speaking to the nice young manager, we were very kindly moved to room 5, a family...

The title is the good bit. Large double king-size bed in some rooms. Excellent showers. Clean. Lack of wardrobe space might be a problem for some. Food excellent. Just starting to look tired in places. Bar very good.

Booked a table for dinner on 07/10/2016. Shown to our table in a room off the main bar which had a further 5 people sitting in it, the room was large but with not many people using it, it lacked atmosphere and was adjacent to the kitchen which was very loud, not with the cooking of food but with staff...

We visited the Bridge Inn for some local food but at first the prices looked too expensive for some pub food. We then ordered and loved the food and amount that was on each plate. All local food and the chips were amazing.

This was our first stay at The Bridge but it certainly won't be our last. The rooms were cosy with great showers, just what you need after a day on the fells! The atmosphere in the bar was lovely and welcoming and so we ate here three nights in a row and the food was beautiful as was the ale....

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The award-winning Bridge Inn, once a modest mail coach’s halt, is now a fine, well-situated, comfortable country inn offering hospitality to all travelers and visitors being close to Wastwater (Britain’s favourite view) and Scafell. Well behaved dogs are also welcome. The Western Lakes and Fells are spectacular and here in this quiet valley there is still the peace and tranquility that should be Lakeland. There are still more sheep than people!!! Excellent "REAL" food, "REAL" Ales, Log Fires and a "reet good welcome." Standards of accommodation today's travelers expect. "Home from home for the tired business person and the weary fell walker." ... more   less
