We stayed locally, and went to this pub for 3 evening meals. The food was excellent and we enjoyed the ambience. Manager amiable and helpful. Recommended. Dog friendly too. Others have commented about expense but I thought prices were pretty reasonable.

We dined here three times during our trip. Great menu, several options if you get there early enough, very good cuisine by international standards and very generous portions. Limited but good wine selection. Superlative friendly service to boot!

Went for a meal on Saturday night without booking. A table was found after 15 minutes. It was well worth the wait. We both had dishes from the specials board. My wife had halibut with a wild mushroom and pistachio risotto with pistachio oil and deep fried brie fritters. The halibut was white and creamy as it should be and... More

We booked a room at this hotel ahead of an upcoming trip to the Lake District, however due to completely unforeseen circumstances sadly we had to cancel. We were travelling in the UK with our 8 month old and we had to rush my husband to a&e, following tests he was admitted to hospital for what ended up being a... More

Having read some previous comments we were not sure what to expect but all the staff were very friendly, the beers were excellent and the food delicious. My wife had the lamb shank with mashed potatoes and vegetables it was superb very tasty and plenty of meat that... More

For a bunch of aussies we found this to be the best of English pub visit. Food was more than generous serves and all great from lamb to fish and steak and sausages. Fresh vegetables served with meals. Staff were great and welcoming as were the locals. A bit on expensive side at near £20 for some meals but worth... More

This hidden gem of an hotel deep in the countryside of the Lakes offers great value. I stay here whilst on business (over 3-months) and it offers friendly staff, great service and excellent (and plentiful !) food. I have watched the staff treat walkers, campers and paying guests with the same level of hospitality. Friendly, welcoming, to both people and... More

We had lunch here on Sunday, Prawn Marie Rose Baguette & a honey roast ham Baguette, both with salad, coleslaw & crisps plus a portion of home made Chips which was all really tasty & the portion size was a great size. We sat outside to begin with but the weather turned for the worst so we sat in the... More

This place was one of our favourites in the Lake District but alas no more. Last year we stayed here to find beautiful hanging baskets, a friendly receptionist dressed immaculately , friendly and helpful on our arrival . This year I had to search the hotel to find a member of staff . Admittedly we were early to check in... More

The award-winning Bridge Inn, once a modest mail coach’s halt, is now a fine, well-situated, comfortable country inn offering hospitality to all travelers and visitors being close to Wastwater (Britain’s favourite view) and Scafell. Well behaved dogs are also welcome. The Western Lakes and Fells are spectacular and here in this quiet valley there is still the peace and tranquility that should be Lakeland. There are still more sheep than people!!! Excellent "REAL" food, "REAL" Ales, Log Fires and a "reet good welcome." Standards of accommodation today's travelers expect.
