Traveled up to Drigg from Preston by Train with my Wife to meet up with Friends for Lunch and a couple of Pints of Jennings Bitter. How lovely to return to this pub. Had a lovely Lunch and a few Beers. The food was excellent and very good value, the Jennings Bitter was spot on. Well worth a visit.

Called in for early dinner and with this being close to where I live was ideal. Warmly greeted by the owner who I had met from a previous visit when I was house hunting in the area. We both opted straight for a main meal and maybe a desert. We ordered at the bar after drinks were served I chose the crispy chicken in sweet and sour with half chips half rice. My wife went for the vegetarian option of broccoli and tomato cheese bake. We were taken to our table and after a short wait dinner was served. My chicken was small pieces in batter was cooked well covered in sauce. This took away the crispiness of the batter. This came served with salad and chips. Salad was fresh and the chips looked homemade and tasty. My wife's meal came served in a big overflowing bowl, side order of chips and salad she said it was very nice, tasty but spoiled by being a little bit watery. Portions were very big, I am a big eater but even for me this was more than enough. We didn't have desert this time but will back. The specials board was a great choice and included meals for the smaller palate. Overall opinion, very tasty food at good prices, very nice friendly staff and well worth a visit.

We met up with friends for lunch. Glad we had booked as there was a 'sorry fully booked' sign at the door. This just tells you how good an eating and drinking place this is. We also like the way they cater for those of us with small appetites. They have a menu for smaller meals. I must say when we got our meal we wondered what a full size meal would look like. Great friendly staff. The fish was very good.

Out and about in Cumbria, we stopped for a meal. A very warm welcome and excellent food. A very good find for hungry travellers. We did not stay in the hotel, but would have been pleased to give it a try if we had needed a room.
