Our villas are built in the original Andaman Sea - gypsy style which is optimal for comfort and for the environment. We have used unique local resources with a traditional background while still maintaining, if not surpassing, all modern standards. The mangrove palm leaf roofs of our villas breathe and do not store heat, and air conditioners are definitely not needed. All villas have an undisturbed, spectacular sea view of the famous Phang Nga Bay and can be opened up to the stars at night - and in the morning the rising sun shines onto the beds.

Detailed Reviews
Having spent the first part of our Thailand holiday in a super 5 star hotel, we were slightly concerned as to whether we had done the right thing in going to a tent for the second part of our holiday!
We need not have worried as the 9 Hornbills tent which are separate to, but part of the Kayao Island Resort was fantastic.
Everything you would want from a room, with super comfortable bed, living area and indoor bathroom and outdoor shower. And just outside your door, an alfresco dining area and then your own pool in your own gardens. Fantastic.
The views are out of this world. The sunrises are worth the early morning as were spectacular.
Breakfasts can be delivered to your tent, (both in pool or on table) or an electric buggy will pick you up to take you to the hotel's restaurant. We certainly preferred at tent dining.
Daily maid cleaning was efficient as was the nightly bug preparation, which seemed to keep the blighters away. Mosquitoe spray was provided and actually smelt OK - We didn't get a single bite so nothing to worry about there.
Perhaps the downside (but mostly an advantage) is you are remote from the hotel. When you want to go out, you need to phone for a buggy, but these were prompt and the people charming.
It is not a 5 Star resort, but the people are lovely and so keen to help. In the restaurant they employ local people and perhaps the service was not perfect, but when on holiday there should be no need to rush. The Spa was great and pleasingly not the crazy pricing of our previous hotel. The drinks were also priced reasonably. However greater bargains and food available on the small island. The hotel gave us some great tips of where to eat and their TukTuk was always available to take and bring us back.
They also arranged a couple of excursions for us, both were great and good value for money. The roads are so quiet hiring a scooter from the hotel is also a good possibility (not something I would say for Phuket!)
All in all, a very enjoyable stay. Could fault be found - Yes if you look hard enough, but when the staff are so supportive and friendly why look - just lay back and enjoy the wonders of Thailand

Highly recommended, great area, beautiful beach, nice and friendly, helpful staff, good breakfast, nice trips to other islands possible.
This is really a great resort on one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. Unfortunately, the seawater is not completely clean, suspended matter and nettle plankton, but unfortunately this is now almost everywhere in Thailand.
We were first in a Sea Breeze Studio (17). The studio is rustic but tastefully decorated, it has everything you need. We had a cozy balcony with a sea view and felt very comfortable. However, due to the open room concept, you can hear noises from the neighboring studios, the bar below, the check-in area of the hotel and the restaurant or the kitchen. It wasn't loud, but you can hear more than you want to hear in your private living area. We then had the opportunity to change at an additional cost and moved to one of the Hornbill tents on the hill (30). Paradise is the right word, it was excellent, absolutely great, tasteful, clean luxury tent with everything you need. The private pool is the icing on the cake. We enjoyed every hour and would love to come back to such a Hornbill tent anytime.
The breakfast is delicious and varied (Asian, western and plentiful). The service is excellent. We had booked a special valentines dinner on the beach which was not perfect (meat and fish a bit dry) but the atmosphere and presentation of the food was nice. The staff is obviously trying and is very friendly.
Would love to come again!

We stayed at Koyoa Island resort at the end of July 2022 and had booked the transfer via the resort. We had our own private taxi and boat transfer to the resort. Upon arrival, we were greeted by several staff members who helped with the bags and to take us to reception for checking in. All went smoothly. We stayed in the family beach villa which is the villa closest to the sea on the left side of the resort as you look out to sea.
The villa had two rooms, 3 toilets of which one was outdoors with a bath and shower. The front master bedroom looked out to the sea and the back bedroom was more for children as it does not have a view. The rooms have minimal furniture and beds adorned with insect nets to prevent any mosquitos / spiders (will explain later) landing on you whilst you sleep at night.
There is an outdoor area with a day bed, chairs and cushions to sit on. We used this space the most during our evenings. As mentioned, the villa is the closest villa to the sea which is nice however do note that if the sea is rough, you will hear waves crashing along the beach which if you are a light sleeper is not ideal. We didn't mind it though it can be quite disturbing if you want a quiets night sleep. The sea was not clear at the time of year and if you were expecting a blue sea (like Gili T), I don't think it will be that colour even during the dry season.
The resort was well kept and they were just back to opening the resort after covid restrictions had been lifted so there were parts of the resort still vacant. Breakfast initially was a buffet arrangement however it was changed to Ala carte mid way which we didn't mind. Sufficient variety and service was quick. We ate at the restaurant (Pum pui) a few times and the quality was good. We also hired a scooter with side car (not through the hotel) and managed to eat at various restaurants - Kaya, cafe kantary, chana cafe, parabar and kindee. All were good, especially kindee.
I would suggest hiring a scooter, the roads are quiet and see the island. Of which you can cover in a day, two max. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at the resort. The staff were attentive and the resort does sell itself as being back with nature. Especially when we had the following additional guests during our stay - frogs, gecko and spiders visit our villa!

Ignore any criticisms in other reviews, this place is fantastic. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and in particular I would mention Fon. Huge bed, inside and outside showers. Fabulous views of the karsts in the Andaman sea. The 16 villas are spread along a 200m beach and so you never feel crowded. Very urbane Swiss GM. Good breakfast spread with eggs cooked to order. Complimentary cocktails on Mondays, complimentary boat trip on Tuesdays (which I highjly recommend), complimentary 10 minute massage daily, complimentary body massage during visit, complimentary yoga etc, I cannot speak highly enough of this hotel. Oh, and the restaurant was excellent as well.

We had looked forward to our stay at Koyao Isand Resort, this was our 5th visit to The Yai and Noi islands. On other previous visits to Koy Yai Noi we had meals at the restaurant at the resort, liked ambience and decided we would like to stay at the resort next visit. Maintenance is a huge issue at the resort, I know COVID has impacted, however nothing seems to be being maintained. Our first villa which was beach villa suite was very dark and grubby, there had been very torrential rain and their was a leak in the roof close to the bed. The resort promptly upgraded us the next morning to one of the tented villas. Again not without problems, fridge didn’t work, no safe deposit box, toilet did not drain, which became a little distressing(we were refunded a night after numerous issues with the toilet).
Everything just looked like it needed TLC, the 4 nights we were at the 9 hornbills, the steps down to the villa where covered in debris, gravel from the rain, never swept (however staff swept the access road that the buggy’s travelled up and down)lights broken so we couldn’t see to get up and down to the villa. We paid AUD 320 for the beach villa which is grossly overpriced.
Pum Pui restaurant, breakfast same each day and very limited, you now pay for water at the restaurant during lunch and dinner service. No cloth napkins.
Jennifer the client liaison was just charming, GM wasn’t to be seen. We checked out early and spent a lovely couple of nights elsewhere. All in all so disappointed, I feel for the staff as they are doing the best they can - the owners need to be spending some money, on roof replacement and general upkeep.

Very nice location and an amazing view of the islands from the private beach.
They provided us with very good and affordable additional tours and services to go atound the smaller islands and around Kho Yao Noi itself.
The facilities need a little bit of a refurbish but they are very nice and help you yo become “one with nature”.

Staying at Koyao Island resort was a birthday treat and did not disappoint. The hotel has single story beach side rooms and tented hillside accommodation. Beachside is spectacular with direct beach access and plenty of space for children to run and around and equally privacy. The rooms have a rustic feel, very clean and we had great views and could hear the sea. The hornbills bar located above the hillside rooms has the most amazing view of the bay , we were lucky to have sundowners here which was magical. The hotel use buggies to transport guests between the two parts of the resort which was very convenient. The cocktails deserve a special mention as they used fresh ingredients such as lemon grass and ginger to make some really good cocktails. The staff added the final touch by being attentive and helpful. Food was good and I had a great birthday. Don't forget the camera to get the pictures of the hornbills. Thank you for a great stay.

I hate to write anything negative, but after the Koyao Island Resort experience something must be said.
BAD MANAGEMENT:
We paid almost $400 to specifically book the Beach front family beach villa for my daughters birthday. They did not give us the room booked, but a standard family villa not on the beach as the photos in their listing. Mistakes happen, but how the management handled the situation was quite surprising. I expressed my disappointment with a nice lady with guest relations who was the conduit between me and the hotel boss that just hid somewhere in the hotel and never came out to address the issue. The hotel was full with no other rooms to change to, so I requested a discount on the room rate as the room I paid extra for was not given to us. Her boss refused this and offered us some free Thai food. He chose this review over treating us with common fairness and decency.
BAD VALUE:
Please keep in mind this is not a Resort but more like a glamping experience. There will be hundreds/thousands of bugs in your room as the villas are open air. The service is 1-2 star. If you are paying more than $100 you are paying too much for glamping in Thailand.

The most beautiful experience! I stayed 6 nights at this resort. Beach villa directly on the beach, you wake up in the morning and the birds sing to you and the view is beautiful. The villa is spacious, everything clean, excellent cleaning services. Varied breakfast. The staff is exceptional. Everything I asked for was done. Tim is a professional manager and a man you enjoy talking to. All the staff was at our disposal throughout our stay. You can rent kayaks and bicycles for free at the resort. Also, the hotel offers private trips to the islands in the area, we chose the trip with James Bond Island, everything was perfect. And to end the trip properly, our departure was provided by the hotel and the boat came directly to the beach to pick us up, we felt like VIPs. Thank you for everything! I highly recommend this resort! You will be left with beautiful memories and impressions!

A proper 5 star hotel with big spacious rooms and an infinity pool. Offers a lot of activities for the family.
The family beach villa is very spacious, has 2 beds but only one very open bathroom. The private beach is 10 steps away from the villa. The view is very beautiful. Biycles and Canoe(Kayaks) are available free of cost. Motorbikes/Scooters can be rented out.
The staff is very helpful. We were greeted by the manager who is very friendly and helpful. The receptionists are available 24x7 and very sweet and understanding.
The food at the restaurant is very tasty and vegetarian dishes are provided during breakfast.
The only problem at the resort was the number of insects especially mosquitoes and lizards. The staff tried to help to sort this issue but it was practically impossible to do anything.
Overall a very good and fun stay and would definitely come back.

Pretty sure you can, as long as you buy drink or food onsite :)
The spectacular views, which made the islands famous are only on Ko Yao Noi!
Dear Warren,
yes, we can organise this for you on request. We will confirm with your reservation gladly.
