We were due to stay here in Nov 2020. We originally booked through Booking.com. Our flights were cancelled In Aug 2020 due to the pandemic and unfortunately we were unable to visit. After initially ignoring several messages, the resort finally offered us a full refund and requested we be patient, which we happily agreed to understanding the difficult circumstances that everyone was in. 18 months later, and multiple messages back and forth, they were still claiming the intention to give us our money back but were clearly lying. They even claimed that everyone else had got their money back and were unsure why we hadn't. They then began stating they had lost all records and were unable to process a refund currently "but are working on it". I offered to send them all the information and evidence of payment but this was not good enough. Nearly 2 years later, we still haven't had a refund and now they are refusing to communicate with us, unless we get a solicitor involved. They have taken advantage of our good nature, and keep palming us off with "we will pay you, just be patient". I am so disappointed and have been in a situation where we could not afford to pay over £700 for services we did not receive.

Really lovely place! Do not believe the reviews that say it was run down all very well kept and maintained - the pool and the rooms were amazing as were the views. Road is barely a road to get there so very bumpy - but also fine on a moped! Overall is a fantastic place - I cannot fault the rooms or the site in general! However for the price they do feel a little money grabbing - you are paying luxury prices, and obviously this is an eco place so no electricity which is expected. But you do expect some things to be done with your extra thought / consideration. One of the ladies was so lovely and happy to see us each time and that made such a difference. However they do charge 600tbh for one meal eg pad Thai, which is driven in - and same there are no beers on site. Same for the breakfast, which was a lovely surprise free - however they offer homemade bread which is clearly sliced bread from a bag. Very minor things which add up. In addition, they have an old moped (the seat doesn’t lock ect) which they lent us to drive around the island - then at check out, we were charged 300tbh per day (very expensive for a regular moped, let alone a run down moped). Overall was a lovely stay - but a few additions would make it feel more worth the money, such a not charging for the moped or at least charging a reasonable rate / adding some solar powered lights or fairy lights around the place so you can actually find your way home to the villa, or having some takeout options which don’t cost 600tbh. If you do stay, I recommend having a late lunch around 5pm before it is too dark to drive back rather than getting the dinner there.

Being stuck on a tropical island, in the middle of Koh Yao's jungle, within nature is not the badest place to be while having a global pandemic coming around. Right at the start of the lockdown I was forced to stay in Thailand, so I decided to allocate myself in the magical treetops of the Hideout. Staying there longterm was the perfect combination of adventure and self reflection. Having the hotel for myself for a month was a treat like nothing else, Anita and her lovely local hosts were kind and attentive at all times. Mother nature is rocking you to sleep and waking you up in the morning - one of the best beds I've ever slept in! It was just really nice to only be for a moment and to not be overstimmunlated with intrusive services. All in all, if you love to have a second to yourself and enjoy really great local cuisine in one of the most beautiful places you have ever seen - GO and book your room now. Also, the island itself is so worth to see and explore and the staff is out of the ordinary to give you tips of seeing the secret must see spots that not everyone gets to see. Thank you again for having me!

The tree houses are amazing, you feel like your sleeping in nature. The restaurant offers tasty food and great cocktails, the infinity pool is amazing and, most of all, everything they have is amazing. The place is run by open and great people! The place offers transfer. There 's nothing to worry when it comes to mosquitos because the place offers reppelent and a safe to lock your stuff.

The Hideout is a very unique jungle “bed and breakfast” with a focus on serving the needs of their customers, promoting sustainability, and encouraging a quiet, calm respite from the nuttiness of some of the busier beaches on Phuket and Krabi. I did a fair amount of research before the trip, and I thought that describing it as “glamping” was pretty accurate - but with a very customer centric orientation, and delicious food. The staff - Tine and Anita and their crew - go over and above to make sure you are well taken care of. The rooms were surreal and gorgeous; the beds very comfy - and of course open air. While the weather was comfortable because it was cool season in Thailand, the rooms may get warm during hot season. For those who worry about heat or about critters, this may not be the place for you. The one thing that surprised me was how remote the location was, up at the top of a very steep washed out road. For those not well experienced with motor scooters, it meant parking our scooter at the bottom of the hill and a 20 min walk through the jungle (which I really kind of liked, but again, not for everyone). And because the swimmable (and gorgeous, not crowded) spacious beaches are on the other side of the island, renting a motor scooter is pretty key. We had a motor scooter accident and Tine showed up immediately, dropping everything else to help us. Everyone was incredibly helpful - this is Thailand! So we were well cared for. This would be an awesome spot for an adventurous couple who wanted to get away from the crowds and stay somewhere unique (we met a fantastic couple from the UK for example at the wonderful yoga classes they had in the morning - Molly rocks!). Kao Noi is a quaint island and the people here are wonderful.

My partner and I stayed at The Island Hideout recently, we really did not want to leave...such an incredible place. Anita has done a fantastic job with the place. We never left the hideout during our stay at all, it was pure paradise! We felt like we were the only people on the island....definitely looking forward to staying for longer next time! Thank you for making our stay there so magical...

This peaceful oasis made me feel like I was in the jungle, you can resource yourself, take some time to read, swim in the amazing infinity pool, have a massage or just discuss with the welcoming and friendly people working at The Hideout. On top of all of that, this paradise is totally eco-friendly so you can feel guilt-free and enjoy your stay !

There is NOTHING more amazing than waking up naturally and peacefully as the sun rises, and not even having to get out of bed to enjoy your view - overlooking the jungle and the sea. It is seriously special. The staff, particularly our lovely host Tine, were just wonderful - so warm, fun, friendly, and genuinely caring. Without electricity & wi-fi, we really learned to appreciate the luxuries that nature offers. The treasures that this hotel provides really are the closeness to the jungle, the beautiful local food ingredients, the amazing sustainability practices, the wild creatures you can see and hear, the people who run it and the beautiful setting (rather than the usual perceived hotel ''luxury'' of air con, TV screens and tacky plastic mini shampoos). The food at the restaurant is unbelievable - we spent over a week on the island and the food at The Hideout was by far the best we had. Home-cooked, fresh ingredients and a beautiful selection on the menu. We loved every single meal. Our lovely host would chat to us about our food likes/dislikes etc and was kind and thoughtful enough to order in a particular fruit for my fussy boyfriend to try, and to arrange local honeycomb to be sourced for us to sample. And the chefs are seriously talented. Every detail has been carefully thought about - from the careful and beautifully simple design of each room, the very comfortable beds, home-made mosquito-repelling eco-friendly shower gel, gorgeous Thai bath robes, a well-written welcome and guidebook in each bedroom, board games to play by eco-lantern light in the evenings. The hotel was a sanctuary for us (away from busy lives in London). Plus, The Hideout provides mopeds to go and explore the bustle of the island during the daytimes, but we could still come back to the peace and calm at nighttime. Any poor reviews of this hotel (I can sadly see a couple) are from people who have totally failed to understand the point of this place. No - it is not for the faint-hearted: you will hear exciting jungle noises in the night, and you will have to go to bed when it gets dark and wake up when it gets light, and being in a treehouse during a storm is exhilarating, and there is no wi-fi - IF THIS IS NOT FOR YOU, then WHY did you stay here? For us, these things were what the experience was all about. THANK YOU HIDEOUT! <3

These beautiful treehouse villas built on this beautiful and serene island of Koh Yao Noi is not less than a gem. With no internet and electricity you feel very close to nature. Not meant for people who would cry over having no air conditioning at night, it could get pretty hot at night. Recommended when the weather is pleasant in Thailand, maybe March or April start. The ingredients used in cooking are fresh and the food just tastes amazing! Best PadThai Noodles I had in thailand. Food might be considered little overpriced, but the taste is beyond the world. All the staff is nice and kind and the place is kept clean round the clock. Our host Tine was very helpful and kind and also played Jenga, Jackpot etc with us, which was a fun afternoon. Waking up to a view of sea and green trees all around you is just a wonderful experience and everyone can give it a try atleast once
