My boyfriend and I stayed in watamu town and were looking for a place to dive. We headed to the diveschool located in temple point resort and got a very warm welcome from matthias. He immediately did a try out dive with my boyfriend in the pool and this way convinced him to do a course. Matthias is a very professional, experienced, calm, easygoing and fun instructor. I booked 2 dives, for a very reasonable price, and did 2 beautifull dives with another very experienced and professional guide, which enhanced the experience. Watamu is a great place to dive with lots of colourfull fish, turtles and coralreefs, warm water and good visibility, easy reachable by boat. Even if you are not staying in templebar resort, temple bar is a nice place with good food and nice views to hang out and if you're partner does a divecourse, you are free to hang out at the Pool meanwhile, which is not bad at all. Overall great few days!

Response from Temple Point Resort, General Manager at Temple Point
Responded Oct 12, 2021
Hi Alindermaur, wow thank you very much for your gorgeous review. We are blessed that you had such a nice experience with our ExtraDivers School lead by Matthias and his team. Thank you for recommending us here on TripAdvisor as a walk in location for pool use and yummy food experiences. We couldn't agree more on that. We wish you well and welcome back at any time to Temple Point. S. Köppert

My friend and I had a great time at Temple Point we had a room with a beautiful sea view and enjoyed the night card games with their very friendly staff. Anita handled us with utmost professionalism and ensured that we were comfortable through out our stay. we loved and enjoyed the food, the beach at temple point is also very clean and private.

We spend one week in Temple Point resort and it was not enough time to explore all parts of this beautiful location. Went diving with a German very cool instructor called Matthias. 3 days of Kite surfing (Kite-Spot is close, flat water, beach is wide almost empty). We spend one afternoon on a boat and went on a canoe trip through the mangroves. Unfortunately not enough time for a safari which would have taken another two days or so, but next time!

Generally great location at the corner of Indian Ocean and Mida Creek.
Unfortunately service experience got worse by the day, though we were almost the only guests for most of the time. Management team too busy organising events and did not even bother to come when we asked for a Manager after several days of declining service.
Food takes forever, some items never arrived, staff standing in corners chatting but not attending to customers despite us going repeatedly to counter over missing/wrong items, juices watered down.
Towels for the pool very old and used. A day before Christmas new ones appeared but suddenly required towel cards which nobody informed about.
Room service very basic and not functioning. Asked for extra drinking water bottles, to be billed to room (1 liter free per room per day is not getting you far in tropics) - no bottle ever came. Asked for two extra towels for the room because swimming a lot - found room without any towels at all.
Beer by the pool warm, served with glass of ice cubes to cool it.
Just to name a few of the lowlights. Beautiful location but serious service and management issues unfortunately.

Our stay at the Temple Point Hotel in Watamu was extremely disappointing. Despite having been booked over four months ago, our experience at this establishment was a source of disappointment from the moment we entered the room. The welcome at the reception was very nice but the photos presented in no way correspond to the reality of this hotel. We were taken by surprise to discover that the Temple Point was in an advanced state of disrepair, cruelly lacking in maintenance. It's a SHAME to pay more than 150 USD for such a room in Kenya although Watamu is said to be an expensive city. The paint was peeling in both the pool and the rooms, the taps were rusty, and even the mosquito netting had holes in it.
After expressing our dissatisfaction with the state of our first room, we were offered an upgrade to a larger room. Unfortunately, we found 2 cockroaches in the bathroom. In addition, the decoration of the rooms seemed old-fashioned, and the curtains were neither opaque nor effective at blocking sunlight, forcing us to wake up at the crack of dawn. The windows in both rooms didn't close properly.
In short, this hotel's value for money was far from satisfactory. The Temple Point looked more like a three-star establishment than a four-star one. As far as the food was concerned, although breakfast was good with fresh pancakes and an egg station, dinner in no way justified its price (20 USD per person), and we'd advise you to eat in town, where you can get better quality for a similar or even lower price.
The staff were generally friendly, especially Charlotte from Guest Experience, who was always ready to listen and help. However, it was often necessary to repeat our requests to obtain correct service. For example, despite our express request, the towels were not changed, which was a disappointing point. They woke us up at 7:30 am after we made the complaint in the evening...
In conclusion, our stay at the Temple Point Hotel in Watamu was a huge DISSAPOINTMENT. If we return to the area, we'll go somewhere else and visit Litchaus, which is a gem, but we'll definitely avoid this hotel even though it's mentionned that they are rennovating the hotel.

Having just spent a weekend at Temple Point, I want to say a big thank you to Max & Charlotte for making our stay a perfect break.
It was my wifes birthday on the Saturday and Charlotte and her team sang happy birthday and presented her with a small bouquet of flowers, a birthday card and some chocolate cake. This was all unprompted by me, later we returned to our accomodation and discovered a tasteful happy birthday message on the bed made from flowers.
We dined and drank at the resort (we were B&B) and I was surprised by the final bill being so reasonable.
Food was very good
Drinks maybe a bit more expensive than some places
Accomodation clean with large areas to relax outside our unit
Pools were clean
definitely family friendly
We hope to return in future with a few friends
Thank you Temple Point

For the amount of money you spend you would expect a bit more. The rooms do not look like what is advertised. Especially the creek deluxe room. Many of them do not have the balcony and terrace but only a shared balcony. Many of the rooms don't have any view at all, and tucked away at the back of the building.
Furthermore, when i stayed they were busy doing construction work on new projects and it was like i was living in a construction site. Many construction workers walking past my room and always had to keep my curtains closed. Building noises were constantly going off and you couldn't even lie by the pool and have a relaxing day without the sound of tools going off. Then a project started right outside my room and it was the only view i had, I had to leave the resort everyday to get away from the construction.
They were too worried about their new projects to worry about their paying guests.
The turndown service lacked. We often did not get a turn down service so did not get fresh towels, or any towels for that matter, as well as tea/coffee/sugar top up so when you went to make the next morning you did not have.
The staff are friendly but there are most certainly areas to work on to make it worth the money.

Jackeline was our main waitress and she was fantastic she undertsood my dietry needs, I have coeliac disease and this makes it hard for me to eat places, temple point sorted me the head chef mark to sort my meals as I could eat from the buffet, this was amazing his food was perfect and safe and made my life south easier so thank you Mark!
The room was lovely, great air con, WiFi and beautiful setting, would highly recommend and is safe for gluten free, but I would make them aware prior to going

The place is Arts inspired and has a Rustic theme. It is also an Eco friendly space. I stayed for one night and relocated since my visit conicided with the annual Kaleidoscope festival and I fugured out the place will be packed. If you are looking for serenity then this is the place to be on a normal day outside of the festival.
The service and food is okay, though most staff I interacted with seemed nonchalant. There is a newly equiped gym which is charged separately at Ksh. 800 for guests staying at the hotel, the management should look at including this in the accomodation package.
You could also work on replacing worn out uniforms for some grounds men. The old faded uniforms make them look like Prisoners "Pun intended".
