Detailed Reviews
My recent stay at Twiga (Jan '24) was made amazing by the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. They really went out of their way to make my stay special. The food at the on-site restaurants was delicious, and the size of swimming pool was just perfect for relaxing and having a great time. Outside beach is clean sandy and well protected “against beach boys”, hence you feel safe and comfortable.
While there were a few things that could be better, my overall experience was great.
I'd recommend Twiga to anyone looking for a nice boutique hotel with top-notch service, yummy food and a nice pool.

Very nice, small hotel. I spent there Christmas time with my family. We enjoy the stay, the food, atmosphere, our room, the beach. The strongest point of the hotel was the couple who manages the hotel Angela and Massimo, they took care about every single detail. They were so friendly, engaged and helpful. They simply created the atmosphere of this place! I recommend the hotel as a great one!

We came here for family vacation. It was our First Time we have reserved tables at restaurant. Bar didnt cheap on alcohol. Evan though there is only one swiming pool it is great because water is warm and you can swim right away. The hotel personel was realy helpfull wenever we needed anything. I read it is not welcome to anyone other than italians which is a lie, couse they speak english well.

What a disgusting place. I was conned. Expensive dump. From the thumping music pool side being played by a group of drunk buddies , to the filthy room.... the reception area should have been enough for me to realise what was in store for us.I think the owners have walked off the job a long time ago and left it to a few locals. My choice of dingy rooms were mound smelling or paint smelling. Other rooms with doors opened and mattresses leaning against walls .No toiletries at all supplied but for a small tube of rubbish soap. So many appalling things.
I honestly need to tell you that your holiday in Kenya will be totally spoilt if you venture into this shocking excuse for a resort. I assure you I travel the world quite a lot and this is by far the worst excuse of a holiday destination I have ever encountered.

We had smooth check in ,our driver was allowed to drop us at the reception. Real trouble began when we asked for a taxi and the hotel tried to force us to take a 70euros taxi for a less than 20min ride. Having stayed 3nights,we organised for an early 6am checkout the previous night and the hotel enquired if we had organised transportation which we had with the same driver who previously dropped us on check in.
Same driver same car came to pick us up but they wouldn't let him in. Upon enquiry why ,the receptionist said management doesn't allow taxis in for transfers only cars from the hotel desk are allowed in.
We were made to walk 200m to the outside gate on dirt and gravel dragging 3 heavy suitcases without any help at 6am.

A perfectly located hotel on a beautiful, wide and clean beach with palm trees. Perfect relaxation for everyone. The hotel is comfortable, well-kept, with an African atmosphere, spacious, clean rooms, intimate atmosphere. Very polite staff, quickly responding to guests' needs. A very nice and helpful manager, she takes care of every detail in the facility. Large and clean swimming pool. Delicious food, fish, seafood, beef, pasta, tropical fruits, everyone will find something for themselves. We will gladly return to this place. I sincerely recommend Hotel Twiga. It's a real gem. Perfect for people looking for intimacy and aesthetic experiences.

This hotel is gorgeous in terms of service, cleanliness, food, staff, location (directly on the beach). A special tribute to the manager Angela who was so caring and giving all the information we needed. The entertainment team is also very attentive, not intrusive at all. If you are looking for a nice, relaxing holiday this is a place to stay!

Very beautiful place. Services at a level far greater than the number of stars indicated. Amazing staff, always smiling, always trying to fulfill any wish, even the unspoken. It is very nice to be initiated into the secrets of the Swahili language. Everything perfectly cleaned, excellent service. The food is always very tasty, really excellent.
Quiet place in all areas. Plenty of sunbeds and places on the beach and by the pool.
The hotel management ensures that the operation of the hotel is always at the set level in all respects. I recommend to all!!!

Went to attend a wedding by the beach and decided to stay at the same place. the food was very disappointing in flavors as well as time. Dinner was served not earlier than 8.30pm strictly. breakfast was not so fresh croissants, dry cake, pancake/omelette and a cereal. Doesn't seem good enough for a hotel where you pay full board. they didnt have most of the known beverages, despite there being a wedding in the resort.
The rooms were excellent, and the surrounding is beautiful too!

I would like to give this place a better than average rating however some fundamental resolvable issues have let it down.
My partner and I arrived for a new year break and sadly were disappointed from the onset. We booked through booking.com and instantly found the place is not accurately located on the map nor in the description. It is located approx. 10km off the tarmac road north of watamu, a round trip taxi costing upto 6000ksh to the centre of watamu. Not what we were expecting at all given we had based ourselves in watamu to celebrate with friends staying in town.
When we arrived we were greeted with a cold towel and refreshing drink by wonderful professional national staff. Checking into our room with fabulous views of turquoise ocean, ornate pool and white sands we were impressed, however we soon discovered there was no power and therefore no water and no ac/fan. A dip in the salt pool was great however not being able to wash off the salt wasn't. Dinner was average and really only catered for italians with all signs in Italian.
With the power issues still not resolved the next day, and with us both living in kenya we know KPL can take ages to resolve issues, we would have expected the management to have prepare for this and had generators. They didn't and even though the national staff assured us the manager is working in it, we didn't want to waste any more of our holiday hot sweaty and unwashed. So we decided to check out. I have to say the national staff made a huge effort to get us to stay and did everything within their power, however the lack of management presence/preparation meant we weren't the only ones to check out that day, a few other families did also!
All in all the place was a let down for us. If the management can put some contingency plans in place for power and update the listings to reflect the accurate location then maybe it would get better ratings.
I will say again the national FoH staff were incredible, can't say the same for the expat staff wearing twiga logo'd tshirts who appeared to be sitting around the whole time and only took the time to speak to the Italian guests, the rest of us were not even acknowledged.
Summary if you are Italian and are happy to be out of town then you may enjoy this place.
