An exceptional hotel set in beautiful grounds and steeped in history. My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful stay at Chateay de Fere and give it 10/10. From the welcome to the checkout, the whole stay was wonderful. We enjoyed a special night in their superb restaurant that was packed with charm and the food was devine. Highly recommended.

First impressions chateaux and ruins very impressive from a distance and on approach. Not a luxury hotel welcome, armature at best. No lift, understandable in an historic chateaux. Room located on second floor up 44 steps, filthy carpets. Bedroom, no hot water, dated 1970’s bathroom suite. Guy came to attempt to fix, but moved us to a second room, same dated bathroom, hot water but no working radiator in bedroom or bathroom, no headboard on bed with 1 pillow per person. No room service, no telephone. Bare electric points. Asked for the radiators to be looked at whilst we went to dinner, when we returned an electric heater had been placed in the bedroom, but nothing in the bathroom. Pre dinner drinks, non equipped bar and no dedicated bar staff, in fact served by the guy who came to try and fix the hot water, who then turned up serving dinner in the restaurant. Restaurant, very busy with both hotel guests and non residents. Too few staff, very slow service, no attention to detail, rushed delivery of everything from cutlery to bread to drinks. Slap dash service. Asked 3 times for a bottle of water, gave up asking a fourth time. Saving grace, the food was good, apart from the smallest steak you’ll ever see for €42! Due to Covid, breakfast was pre-order, this as with dinner was of a good quality. It’s quite shocking that SLH rate this hotel 4.2, absolute nonsense.

Dear July ! Please know that it was a real pleasure for us to receive you during your stay in our county. Please be sure of our gratitude for selecting our castle and for taking the time to share your opinion. These are very important for us because they enable us to continue to do our best to please our guests. We are glad to read that you enjoyed our castle and its adjacent ruins but also your dinner and breakfast the next morning.. We are sorry to read that your stay wasn’t as you had hoped but we must disagree with some of the points you are talking about. About the hot water, you are entirely right, we had a small issue that night and we are truly sorry about it. About having additional pillows, next time don’t hesitate to ask the reception for some additional ones, they will happily give you additional ones. Concerning the radiators, they are very strong and enough to heat the entire room including the bathroom which is why we only added the one. When you speak about bathroom from the 1970, we were opened at the time and our bathroom are fully equipped.Next time if you see something missing, you only have to ask. Your pleasure is our main concern. Concerning your night at the restaurant, please know that we do have someone working at the bar but we were very busy that night. We apologise for the inconvenience. We hope you still had a nice time amongst us . We stay at your disposal in case you have any additional questions. With our warmest regards

how it s possible , we booked here because we were invited for a wedding party nearby...what a mistake! staff is nice and entire team tried the best except the owner , a rude and arrogant person. on their website all look like clean, new and net, in fact there is only 2 rooms like that, all the others are in really bad shape, what a same! The Spa the pool were so dirty, the sunbeams are broken, inside the room we found dead insects, dust everyone, stains on the sheets.... In fact except prices it s not a 5 stars hotel. the worst it s that we have had the feeling that customers are here only in order to sponsored the owner life style. the champagne area is full of nice and charming places, Chateau de Fere is not one of them!

Just so gorgeous. After an initial room mix up we found ourselves in a large, comfortable family room. We loved the pool and the ruins. I would have loved to stay longer than just one night in such a beautiful and relaxing place - but our Eurotunnel booking and looming quarantine measures prevented this.

We stayed for 5 nights in August. Our room was good, at the front of the hotel with large windows and a fabulous view. The room was well equipped and we asked for a fan which was delivered promptly. The bed was very comfy, the only thing that let it down was the room service. Dirty cups left in the room from one day to the next. Dinner in the hotel was fantastic we were lucky to have Justin, Sven and Kate at the Chateau when we were there. As we were there for 5 nights they told us that we just had to ask if we wanted anything in particular. The food and wine was outstanding. Unfortunately this didn’t flow through to breakfast which was a little more hit and miss. We were constantly asking for items to be topped up, especially coffee and milk. You could ask for eggs to be cooked, I asked for poached but apparently they don’t do poached just scrambled! The pool and surrounding area needs some attention. The spa is small but was nice. Would I say it’s 5 star? the scenery is beautiful and there are elements that were 5 star but many that weren’t. That said it was a lovely 5 night break.
