We just returned from Fireside Lodge after a 9 day vacation. This was our 4th visit for my wife and I. The previous 3 visits were great so we were excited to return. We arrived 45 minutes early (for our earlier check in) so we waited in our car in the parking lot outside of the lodge. After sitting there...

My wife and I travel a lot for hunting and fishing trips all over the world and we can honestly say Fireside is one of the best lodges we have ever stayed. Owners attention to detail and staying on the top of the things shows everywhere from dining room to the boats and to the cabins. This being our first...

My wife and I make the l-o-n-g, 3 ½ day drive from Virginia to Fireside Lodge as often as we can. This year will be about our sixth time making this trek. Is the trip worth it just to catch some fish one might ask; our answer would be a resounding “YES”! Without being too repetitive of what others have...

My father and I have been travelling to Fireside for 5 years, every May. This is an awesome wilderness experience with friendly people who are willing to share "where the fish are" - of course it's not hard to find them, the lake is full of big fish. It is managed by Alan and Audrey, two of the most pleasant...

Thank you for your kind words about the experience you and your Dad share at Fireside Lodge, as well as the testimony to the great fishing, and catching, the lake system has to offer and that you have personally experienced. Your well earned bragging rights continue to appear in our statistics and photo gallery. Our coffee chat with you both...

First off I must say that the hosts Allan and Aubrey were very friendly, and the service was great. The camp food was delicious. About the fishing, if you are booking please be sure to reserve a day at Closs Lake, it's a cut above the rest, and you will need reservations for this portage lake. About the fishing, I...

Thank you for your comments, we are glad you enjoyed your experience at Fireside Lodge. The search for the "big one" is what drives the many casts of fisherman, some casts reward the challenge, and some don't, and the memories made along the way create the stories of the quest.

I've been to 5 lodges in Ontario. This is by far the best. I've come to expect outstanding fishing (even on a so so day), to the beautiful, clean cabins, to the service, to the food, to the boats/motors. We see some of the same people each year. This year my two sons and one grandson joined us for the...

This will sound repetitive after reading the other reviews, but believe every word written in all of them! We stumbled upon Audrey and Alan at the All Canada Show in St. Charles, Il. My husband had done one fly in trip many years ago, and thought it might be fun if we did a fishing trip together. We picked up...

We made our second visit to Fireside Lodge in June of this year and we're already planning a return trip. The cabin exceeded our expectations and had a great view of the lake and boat dock. We had plenty of room to decompress after a full day of fishing. You will NOT go hungry during your stay. The portions, choices,...

“In-lodge rooms are rustic and limited, but they put you into the nostalgic Canadian fishing trip mood. They are right off the lodge's main room, and the bathrooms are "down the hall." But you can sleep next to 100-year-old hand-sewn log walls under Hudson Bay wool blankets and smell the bacon and coffee cooking early before the alarm goes off. Sweet! There is a small fridge in each room. A larger group would probably be more comfortable in a cabin. Cabins are like small homes, and are practically brand new, and they have all the amenities, including a refrigerator and kitchen facilities, which the lodge rooms do not. You need your own hair dryer. There is wifi in the main lodge. It can be slow, but consider where you are.”
