This B&B has the whole package in a slightly old fashioned way that works perfectly. Our room, the Azalea Room, was a wood panelled room that was delightfully furnished and was very comfortable. The en-suite bathroom was on the small side but was fully functional. The views from the bedroom window across the St. Lawrence Seaway were to die for. For summer visitors there is a lovely garden with lots of seats. Hosts, Laurence and Brigitte, were delightful and nothing was too much trouble for them. We were given the run of their lounge with TV (there was not one in the room). Wi-Fi worked well. Breakfast was thoughtfully done with lots of home grown ingredients and bread made from flour milled on the island in the antique wind and water mills. The overall package worked very well. Whilst we have stayed in more modern (possibly up market) B&B’s the atmosphere, peace, tranquillity and comfort of Auberge les Eglantiers earns it five stars from us.…
My wife and I stayed here for one night in August 2018. The owner does not really speak English so luckily my bilingual wife made the arrangements for us over the telephone. The owner was very helpful in providing information about the island and the auberge itself. Payment was made upon arrival IN CASH ONLY. We were given a comfortable queen bed room overlooking the river. WiFi was provided. There was a mini fridge made available to guests for their use. The delicious breakfast was partial self-serve with waffles prepared by the owner's husband (he spoke english).
I would absolutely recommend this place. The two hosts were very welcoming with lots of tips of where to go on the island. The cycle round was a delight. We had a wonderful, peaceful night's sleep in a super comfortable bed. The breakfast was very tasty and there was no need to eat again till mid afternoon! I wish we could have stayed longer. Go and visit the Isle des Coudres and stay here. Many many thanks - Ellen and Fabrice. 28/06 - back in Brussels now.
Staying in a river front room is like being on a ship with a panoramic view. The morning light filling the room is worth the visit alone. This is a lovely, impeccably maintained and very welcoming place, with good food. Breakfast on the deck is a pleasure, and also very nice inside if the weather is inclement. A very comfortable, relaxing place to recoup, or use as a base for exploring this most interesting island. I would very happily stay again, for a longer period than the three nights that we had in mid June. Merci beaucoup Brigitte!!
My God, it's a beautiful place and Brigitte is a wonderful person. As a matter of fact, my guests from Switzerland told me that it was one of the best B&Bs they had ever seen or stayed in and they were going to write Brigitte to thank her for her unbelievable hospitality. That and a great breakfast, fit for a Royal.
