We camped in our tent for 3 nights and felt lucky that they had space for us with no reservation. This is right in the middle of major grizzly bear activity but the camp is very clean and there were no issues with bears even though we saw bears every day. There's an elevated viewing platform on top of the rip rap overlooking the Bella Coola River where guests gather to watch the bears, the river, the awesome scenery. The owners Jim and Amber were gracious, helpful, and very oriented to the needs of their guests. What a great couple who's love shows in every detail of their property. The outhouse close to our tenting site was clean, lit 24/7, and had no odour at all. And high quality toilet paper. The wash-house has hot and cold water at the sinks and pay showers that were clean and hot. The "shed" is a reconstructed hand-hewn log building using broad-axed timbers over 100 years old that were lovingly restored by the owners. Inside is a cozy room with couches, a wood stove, games, and many books. We used the shed every night of our stay as it's getting dark earlier and we didn't want to go to bed so early. Chatting with other guests was also very rewarding. There's a great fishing spot just downstream that's only accessible to guests and we had a wonderful time catching coho salmon. And exciting too! Twice we had to vacate the fishing spot due to the approach of grizzly bears, and twice also we were fishing on one side of the river while a bear fished across from us. Where else can one experience great fishing and great bear watching at the same time? There are some lovely cabins too but all were spoken for long before we showed up. If one becomes available I know where I'll be staying on my next trip to the Bella Coola valley.

Rip Rap is a great campground, and I will definitely be staying there again on my next visit to the Bella Coola Valley. The tenting sites are spacious, treed/private, & quiet. The entire campground is well maintained, the owners are friendly & accommodating, and the campground has the cleanest shower house/washrooms and outhouses I've ever seen at a campground!

This was a gorgeous property with campsites, RV hookups, and cabins. Several outdoor sinks and fire pits with a quaint shed if you need a spot to login to Wifi. Freezer and paid showers/laundry available too. In particular, we noticed the extra clean outhouses and loved the deck overlooking the river. I highly recommend this beautiful spot!

What a well appointed, clean campground. Beautiful hanging baskets and mowed grass welcome visitors. Very spacious sites. The "Shed" has comfy oversized couches and chairs with a wood burning stove to curl up the a book selected from the lending library on those not so nice nights. Games available for all members of the family. Try your luck on the horseshoe pitch. Bath house offers pay showers - a loonie gives you 2 minutes so two dollars for a nice hot shower. Selection of shampoos available if you forgot to pack yours. If you were fortunate enough to land a salmon from the Bella Coola river nearby - there is a fish cleaning station available as well as the use of their freezer. Cabins are also available for use tucked away in the woods. So peaceful. I've never seen such clean, fresh-smelling outhouses complete with magazine rack. There is an elevated viewing platform overlooking the Bella Coola river where one can sit back on one of four benches and ponder. Sit back and enjoy the view.

As far as campground's go - I doubt you will ever find another campground as wonderful as Rip Rap. Rip Rap is meticulously cared for and maintained by Amber and Jim. It lies along the Bella Coola River. The area across the river is owned by Rip Rap and you can fish the river along the beach area which has been set up for campers to have a great day. The campground offers wifi in the common room which also has couches and tables, games and books for the campers to hang out. There are 3 areas for camping - the main area is less private where a lot of the area is shared but around the back in a more wooded area are campsites that seem more private but can be closer to bears during grizzly season! There is also a full hook up section on the backside of the campground. All other campsites have water or water and electric. There is also a group section with tables. The bathroom is super cute and clean with one paid shower. The campsite offers a beautiful paid laundry and a fish cleaning station. Cabins are available too. There is a grocery store nearby and the surrounding area is beautiful. Just a few miles outside of Bella Coola. You will never want to leave. I would live there in the winter if I could!!
