Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall

Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall

Perfectly situated along Jamaica’s resort-heavy northwest shore, the Hyatt Zilara is one half of a two-resort beachfront Hyatt compound. Along with its sister property, Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall, the two collectively offer a long list of communal amenities, including nearly a dozen restaurants, two large pools, and an oceanfront spa. The quiet, elegant vibe is what most guests would expect of a five-pearl, adult-only Jamaican resort.

Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.

Nestled in a picturesque location, Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall is acclaimed for its proximity to the airport and stunning views, though the limited food variety and upkeep have been noted by some guests. While the atmosphere pulsates with lively music and entertainment, opinions are split between those who love the energy and those who find it overpowering. The service is often highlighted as friendly, but occasional lapses in speed and consistency are mentioned. Guests have mixed feelings about the noise level, with some enjoying peaceful nights and others disturbed by entertainment and hallway noise. The amenities, including pools and food options, receive praise, but some inconsistencies have been pointed out. Room experiences vary, with accolades for cleanliness and comfort balanced by criticisms regarding mold and outdated decor. Despite the commendable cleanliness of the resort, there are calls for more consistent maintenance and housekeeping. However, the value proposition of the hotel is questioned by many travelers, who feel the high costs are not fully justified by the experience.

This hotel is epic. Grounds are pristine, every staff member is happy and friendly and fun and brings so much joy to the Hyatt Zilara experience. The activities staff is 10 out of 10. Energetic, friendly, fun and funny. Restaurant staff is equally amazing. They bend over backwards to make sure no matter what your food preference or restriction is, you are fully accommodated. Shout out to Sandy and Marsha at the choices buffet who personally made our food exactly as requested. Check in was beyond flawless. We were treated to an upgrade to an ocean view balcony suite for no reason other than the fact that we had some low level Hyatt status. Every activity we participated in was fun, enjoyable and memorable. Pools were great. Ocean was too. If I had to say the one thing that was less than perfect it’s that at the adult only pool they allow saving of lounge chairs and there were many hours where no one sat on a lounge because someone got up to put a towel down at 8am so they could have their chairs when they were ready to come down four or five hours later. We watched as some of these chairs sat vacant until noon with nothing but a magazine left on the chair. My only critique would be that the staff should make a policy going forward to not allow saving of lounge chairs so everyone could enjoy the adult pool area. Definitely plan on a return trip to this all inclusive resort and highly recommend this hotel if you’re looking for a gorgeous place to stay in the area.

My husband and I just returned home from a stay at Hyatt Ziva/Zilara. We had an excellent time! We were transported to the resort from the airport with no hassle, and the return transportation to the airport was also very organized. The resort is clean, well kept and safe. All of the staff is so friendly, they truly seem to love their jobs! The food was great! They do not allow reservations, but we never had to wait to be seated. Our water and wine glasses were always being refilled. They had nightly entertainment including a Michael Jackson tribute show and synchronized swimming. We stayed in the adult resort Zilara. We did go to the family resort quite frequently for meals and entertainment. It was still peaceful even with kids. The sand on the beach was soft and nice. We did rent a beach side cabana for 1 day (~$115), but even when we used regular beach chairs, we were still able to find shade. The one downside was people would put towels on the poolside chairs early in the morning to reserve them, and many people would not show up until about noon to go to the pool. So we would have to play the game of getting a towel on chair, so we could sit together. All in all, we had a fantastic time, and would go there again in a heartbeat! We are also more inclined to check out other Hyatt resorts in Mexico and Domincan Republic!

This is our 4th stay at a Hyatt all-inclusive, having stayed at Ziva, Turquoize, and now with this trip my second stay at a Zilara property. We love this brand for its consistency and know we are getting a great vacation with good food and service. This is what I hope will be a fair review, as both Zilara properties I stayed at were this year (Cap Cana in May 2021 and Rose Hall this past week). When we arrived, our room was not ready, which was fine as we were about a half hour before check in so we went to lunch while we waited. Service was consistently slow during the entire stay, and I am pretty patient as I get that sometimes things happen in the back of house that are beyond control. On average, it often took up to 45 minutes from the time we sat to eat to receive our first drink or appetizer, and the servers at this resort seem to have a quota to push wine sales and will change their demeanor with you if you are not interested in purchasing a $100+ bottle of wine. I did not feel the service was on brand at all at this resort. Room service often took 120+ minutes, and our mini bar was not stocked when we arrived, and only was replenished with water and soda as the resort ran out of canned beer. Other Hyatt resorts would stock your room with snacks, this resort did not which was disappointing. I felt corners were cut that were noticeable if you are a loyal customer who is familiar with what to expect from Ziva/Zilara. The location was great, being a short drive from the airport, which Hyatt has a check in lounge at and will provide round trip service to and from the airport for an additional charge. The beach was clean and pretty, however, be cautious when entering the water as the first few steps are all shells and rocks and a little uncomfortable to step on. Other than that, the water felt perfect and I felt safe and relaxed. The resort played great music, and I truly felt that I was on vacation, as the DJs by the pool played local music that really put you in a good mood, and the beach snack options were aplenty. You could choose to grab a pizza, burger, jerk chicken, or even a fresh rum coconut; it was great! The property was very large which we liked because it never felt crowded, and it was enjoyable to stroll and explore new things. There was plenty of security, and you can tell Hyatt takes pride in providing a safe and clean experience for its guests. We enjoyed our vacation overall, it just wasn't the same quality we were used to.

I stayed a week here during the peak holiday season from Christmas until New Years and was really disappointed with the resort. You need to wake up early at 5am and go put your towel and personal items on the lounge chairs by the pool or beach if you want a decent seat, and even then, the guys who work at the pool may remove yours items to give it to someone who tips them for a chair. This apparently is unofficially called the "butler" service and twice during our stay our items were removed despite waking up at 5am. I saw many other people have a similar issue to us and one morning right before 6am saw (and videotaped) two of the guys working at the pool coming out with a bag of books and other items and literally grabbing 40 chairs for the the people who tip them. This is completely unacceptable for any hotel to do - especially a Hyatt. The management of the hotel does not care about this and is probably in on it and splits the tips with the "butlers" at the pool. I was at the gym one morning and apparently one of the concierge told someone that they can anything they want for them including saving good chairs for them at the pool so it seems like everyone is in on it. I would suggest if anyone from corporate Hyatt is reading this to do an investigation into this next time the hotel is fully booked and hold everyone involved in this scheme accountable for this as it's unacceptable to those of us who not only are paying so much, but even when we wake up at 5am to get a chair come back to see the "butlers" took them to give to the people who tip them. Second, the breakfast and lunch at the resort is disgusting and of lower quality than those of 3 star all inclusives I have stayed at. The drinks at the pool are also horrible and worse than those I had at 3 star all inclusives. We had dinner a the Brazilian "steakhouse" which was not good, however, the food we had at the other nights at the French restaurant, Italian restaurant, and Urban Heat was all really good (the portions are very small though so I suggest always ordering an extra plate to share as they are more than happy to do this for you). Lastly, the hotel tries to nickel and dime you - for example, the New Years Eve party is only for those willing to pay $199+ for a bottle of champagne when other hotels I have stayed at on NYE never do this. The only reason I am giving this hotel 2 stars instead of 1 is that the workers at the hotel who we interacted with a daily basis (besides the experience with the "butlers" and management) are one of the friendliest and most professional I have met and even better than some Ritz Carlton properties I have stayed at. This hotel has a lot of potential but need some drastic changes.

We used Hyatt points for a three night stay here for my birthday. We used the Hyatt shuttle from the airport which is $39 round trip per person. We were on the road heading to the resort within about 10 minutes of arriving at the lounge.

Although our room was on the adult side, we spent most of our time on the family side which was much less crowded, and more quiet than the adult side. Beach was better and the one buffet restaurant was on the family side. Both Zilara and Ziva have multiple pools, but none were heated...water was very chilly. Resort grounds are very nice, lots of bars and several restaurants that serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Several gift shops too. We visited the gym one afternoon. Only way to get there from Zilara was on the third floor crossing thru Ziva. Lots of cardio and weight machines.

Food was good, although disappointed that the buffet, Choicez was not open every night for dinner. This is the only place that doesn’t require smart resort wear. We used the coffee bar in the lobby each morning since it opened at 6am. Breakfast wasn’t served until 7am. There are casual food stands near the pools by each resort that serve lunch until 5pm.

Our room, 1243, did have a view of the resort from the balcony. Mini bar with beer and sodas and coffee service were refilled daily. Bathrooms were very nice. We had room service for dinner one night. Menu is limited, but food arrived in a timely manner.

Hope to stay at another Zilara property once we get our points up again.

The Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall was a beautiful hotel and the staff was equally as beautiful in every way. They were the kindest and most helpful people. It is an adult only hotel and although a couple of restaurants were shared, children were specifcally kept off the beach and none at the pool. The restaurant were delicious and many to choose from. It is all inclusive and the drinks kept flowing. Could not have asked for a better vacation experience. Also, the room was huge with lots of storage space and the bathroom was devine.

I went to Hyatt Zilara with my husband and a couple of friends and had an amazing time. The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. There were always activities throughout the day. The Z Crew (specifically Kelly Ann, Omar, Junior, Orlando, Walden and Barrington) were so fun. We paid for the butler service which I would highly recommend. Latoya, Chira, and Gary were amazing. They reserved pool chairs for us every morning and booked out dinner reservations every night. There was a stocked cooler with water, beer, and soda by our pool chairs each day. They took us to dinner and got us anything we asked. I absolutely recommend paying the extra money.

Also, the gym was unbelievable. Two stories of every type of gym equipment you can imagine. Another perk, it’s not too far from the airport so you have a short ride but it’s far enough you don’t hear the planes. The resort was super clean as well. Unlike some all inclusive resorts, there was not a stray cup or trash anywhere.

The spa was also great! I would recommend doing massages in the morning because the massage huts are right on the beach near where everyone else is hanging out. It starts to get loud around 10am. Also the masseuses try to sell you on spa products following your treatments. They aren’t super pushy but it kind of ruined the moment.

My only complaint was our room was right by the late night bar and we could clearly hear the music late into the night. It honestly wasn’t that big of a deal for us but it might be for others. If you are looking for a quiet spot, I would recommend the family side (Hyatt Ziva).

All in all, I highly recommend this resort.

We had such a great trip to the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall! So many things made this a place we can't wait to go back to! This was our first trip since the pandemic began so it made us feel good that everything was super clean and the staff wore masks and made the effort to keep guests safe by sanitizing, cleaning, etc.

The resort is just a quick 10-min drive from the airport and there's a spot to check in for the Hyatt at the Montego Bay Airport to get your shuttle (they even have water & Red Stripe while you wait!)

Food: It was SO good! Pizza delivered beachside or Jerk Chicken served by the pool were some lunch highlights! The French restaurant was our favorite for dinner but also loved the Asian and Italian! We also took advantage of Room Service being included at both breakfast and an occasional late night snack.

People: The Staff was so friendly and absolutely made our trip more fun! Shout out to Stacy-Ann who served us on the beach multiple days with the biggest smile! We've traveled a lot but never met someone as friendly and thoughtful as Stacy-Ann! Mortimer also kept us smiling at the bar and who could forget Recardo (with an E!). We appreciated chatting with them so much during our stay!

Our stay at the Hyatt Ziva/Zilara was one of the best we’ve had. The entire staff is so warm and welcoming and they want you to have the best experience. While the entire staff was amazing, Sean, Lajwayne, Adrian, Elvis, and Herron (and a few that we were unable to catch their names) really stood out to us and made our trip so memorable and the best it could be! They were very genuine and you could tell they really enjoyed talking to us and helping us. They also follow strict guidelines to ensure cleanliness on the property which made us feel very safe and comfortable. The resort is beautiful with a large number of amenities so that you don’t even have to leave the property if you don’t want. However, they do also offer tours and excursions (for an extra charge). Lovely pool and private beach access with complimentary non-motorized water sports. They have a wide variety of restaurants with very good quality food and drinks. Hyatt Ziva/Zilara was the perfect choice and made it the perfect birthday celebration and we are already planning our next visit to this resort!!!

We spent 5 nights during NYE at Zilara in an Oceanfront Grand Butler Suite. As a globalist we were upgraded to the Oceanfront Junior King suite and then paid to upgrade to the butler suite. There was some mixup with the front desk so the butler was not ready for us when we arrived but did meet us at the room later in the day. We requested an early check-in and our room was ready when we arrived at 11:30am. The room was spacious at over 1000 sqft and the 2 bathrooms were helpful when we were getting ready in the evening. Beautiful ocean views from our balcony but didn't have really great seats out there to enjoy the views. The balcony could use a daybed so you can relax out there. Prior to our arrival we had been emailing with Natresha Thompson who has been one of the most helpful concierge agent we have interacted with at Hyatts, quick responses to my request and even was nice to send over a gift on NYE. Overall, we had a good stay and paid much lower than what would normally be charged during NYE so it was ok that all the amenities were not on par with other Hyatt Zilara standards. We also didn't feel the butler service was worth the extra costs, we would skip that next time. They were helpful in making dinner reservations and other requests but not sure if we really maximize the service to pay the upgrade for it.

I was just a visitor at Hyatt Zilara. My friends and I felt very safe in Jamaica though we did not venture off the resort. We did not take any of the excursions because we had done most of them in years past. As long as you travel in an arranged group you should be fine. I would contact the resort regarding a concierge. Our travel agent had booked one for us as well as the transportation to and from the airport. The breakfast at the buffet was our favorite because we could order fresh made omelettes/other eggs and smoothies. There were always fresh fruits and breads available. I especially enjoyed the other cultural dishes. The Calypso served a good breakfast off the menu but it took longer. We were always anxious to get to the beach. Enjoy your trip!

The rooms were super comfy just ours was musty smelling . I would not do the butler service, not worth the money and for 2 days they were unavailable. We just got up at 7am and put our towels out with a bottle of water, that’s when the butlers get out there. We stayed in 1130 and it was a great location, close to everything. Make sure to eat at the Italian place , in my opinion it was the only one that was edible along with the jerk hit by the kid pool.
