The Iberostar Waves Rose Hall Beach hotel is renowned for its lively party atmosphere, though some guests feel the entertainment lacks authenticity and can be disruptive. While the hotel's location is widely appreciated for its convenience to Montego Bay, opinions on the rooms and amenities are mixed; they are often criticized as outdated and uncomfortable, with some cleanliness issues. Despite the praise for the overall cleanliness of the hotel, inconsistent service and perceived poor value due to high costs and additional charges have marred the guest experience for many.

Excellent Resort for family and couples
Review of Iberostar Rose Hall Beach
Pending review
My husband and I have just returned from a week at the Iberostar Beach Resort and was not disappointed at all. This was our 3rd visit to this resort.

This resort has everything at your fingertips. It is easily accessible from all levels. The management and staff is top notch and always accommodating and accessible to your needs. Special thank you to Christal Gichie and Celia Ferran for their great hospitality and kindness. My husband and I were celebrating both our birthdays, and these ladies made it extra special for us.

Thanks to the wonderful team, the chefs, the restaurant staff, the cooks, the maids, the gardeners, entertainment team, bartenders, and everyone else for their tremendous efforts and kindness to all their guest. The interaction with everyone is amazing.

Rooms and entire surroundings of this hotel are spotlessly clean. As you walk into the lobby, there is such a welcoming atmosphere and a wonderful fresh smell of lavender.

The food and drinks were topnotch. Every day, there is a cooking show by the poolside as well as a bar allowing guest to make and sample their own cocktail. You can find anything in the restaurants to eat. And if you don't you can ask if there is an alternative.. There are all kinds of fresh fruits and juices at breakfast, and at dinner, there is such a variety to offer.

There is a restaurant on the beach serving jerk chicken from 12 pm to 5 pm daily. There is no need to go to the restaurant for lunch. The chicken is extremely delicious, and the beef and chicken patties , dumplings , corn bread, and salads are all so tasteful. There are also burgers and hot dogs on the grill.

The resort has really transformed from the last 3 years we were there. Celia has done a superb job making the hotel a gem.

We will definitely return to this hotel again. If you are looking for a hotel with great vibes, this is the place to be. It's very family oriented and also very good for couples.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind hospitality, and keep up the great job

We loved Iberostar Rose Hall Beach. We appreciated that it was a short shuttle ride from the airport. We were also able to do excurions in Ocho Rios and Negril without having to take too long of a drive to either place because it is centrally located. The beach is so nice with natural shade from the trees and we swam every day in the clear water.

The resort was beautiful and very clean. The employees are constantly working to keep it clean and inviting. Our room had a comfortable bed and stayed nice and cool throughout the day. One thing we LOVED about this resort was that they provide multiple areas where you can fill water jugs with fresh filtered water. We utilized this throughout the week and appreciated the efforts to help the environment. You can bring your own bottle but they provide two larger sizes in the room to use for free. There is no need to buy one when you check in. We also enjoyed the different food options. We were a little disappointed that we couldn't make more than 3 reservations while we were there because we loved the Japanese restaurant so much. The buffet was great and had a ton of variety every day including gluten free options.

We cannot speak highly enough of the staff at this resort. They made our entire vacation so much fun and we will come back because of this. Monique went above and beyond taking care of us while we relaxed on the beach all week. She always greeted us with a big smile and worked hard to keep our drinks full. We LOVED her!

Dean was the best bartender we've ever had. He served us every night in the sports bar and he is very talented. His drinks were amazing and he even remembered our favorite ones after the first night. We loved getting to know him throughout our time there. He even managed to find the hockey game and put it on the tv we were trying to watch one night.

The entertainment staff worked so hard day and night and kept us all laughing throughout the week. They did a great job on Super bowl Sunday Showing the game and they had great food for the tailgate.

We also went to the spa and had a couples massage. Their spa is next door at the Rose hall suites but it was very nice and clean. We enjoyed getting to use to pools, jacuzzi and sauna throughout the week too.

We loved our trip and will definitely be back to visit!

Not much to complain about. We were in room 2441 which is close to the elevator that heads right to the pool. Nice view. The room was very clean smaller then some resorts Ive stayed at. We had a king room with sofa bed. The sofa bed my son slept in was as hard as a rock so if you require two beds ask for two doubles. Bring a refillable water bottle the filtered water throughout the resort is quite good. There are no straws at the resort so bring a cup with a straw if you need one. The food was very good. We ate at the Buffett nice selection, we ate the Japanese was very good and entertaining and the steak house it was ok not great but decent The pool is cold not heated but refreshing after you get used to it. The staff is amazing so give them extra tips they deserve it. We brought our own pool floats and the gift shop will blow them up! The Fire show was great! The magician was a little boring. Michael Jackson show was good but it’s the same as I’ve seen in other resorts before. We liked the sports bar the best to hang out in. Chocolate, Cookie and Romain we’re excellent entertainment host. Would definitely go back and as a travel Agent I will recommend this resort to my clients!

Where to begin. As my first time in Jamaica this experience was not what I had expected, especially from an Iberostar resort. It’s clear that not much attention is paid to the upkeep of this location as it appears neglected in the simplest of areas, paint, general cleanliness, etc. We were continually disappointed when requests for food and drink were met with “I’m sorry, we ran out of that.” It seems they don’t order enough bananas, grenadine, vodka, champagne or lemons to get through even 1/2 a day. Our toilet broke twice, the electric outlets were loose and were few and the housekeeping staff did the bare minimum to clean the room, even forgetting to refill our soap dispenser. It seemed management was willing to accommodate us at first then it became clear that it was purely lip service. I spent much of my vacation voicing my concerns that got us nowhere but more aggregated. I believe Iberostar as a Company is to blame. This resort seemed to lack in staffing from wait staff to ground keeping staff. Such a shame. I will go back to Jamaica as the people are amazing however, I will never vacation with Iberostar again.

We had been to Jamaica before so we knew we didn’t want another long ride from the airport, so our travel agent suggested the Iberostar Roe Hall Beach. It was only about 10 miles from Sangster Airport at Montego Bay. We arrived at the resort by 11:30 a.m. Our rooms weren’t ready but we were welcomed to the Resort and invited to use all the amenities that were available. This was the first resort we have stayed in that had good wi-for all the time. We stayed in building two in an oceanfront double. The view was great and noise was minimal. The room was cleaned before 10:00 am each day and was spotless our entire stay. The staff was very friendly at all times and went above and beyond to keep us well attended. All the grounds, pools, and bars were neat and clean as well as the beach area. The seaweed was kept raked away and all litter was picked up and disposed of daily. The beach vendors didn’t come on the property and weren’t obtrusive. Latoya and Tashay saw that our glasses were never empty and always wore a smile which was very much appreciated. “Romaine Lettuce” was the activities director most of our stay and was a laugh a minute and didn’t let anyone get bored! The buffet had a nice variety daily and we enjoyed two of the three specialty restaurants. The Italian and Japanese restaurants did not disappoint but the steakhouse was sub-par. We ordered well done but got undone with red meat and cold centers, and after them re-cooking, were still too red for our liking. The Chef in the Japanese rest. was very entertaining and informative and prepared a fantastic meal. The entire property was well maintained with the only glitch was an offensive sewer smell the last two days we were there which hopefully is being taken care of at this time. In all, we would definitely stay there again and in fact have been thinking already about going back in the future —we can’t wait!

We had a great trip!! All the reviews of great food, fantastic staff and lovely grounds are all true. It's a small resort, but that makes it quick to navigate. There's a great place that serves ice cream, cookies and crepes from noon until 10pm which is so yummy! It was great that they enforced the rule of no saving loungers in the morning. By 8:30 or so when we made our way down, there were spaces for us. One morning I went down a bit earlier and saw security removing towels and bringing them to the towel hut. They have water refilling stations on every level and have two huge glass refillable containers in the rooms, or bring your own to take down to the pool/beach. Even there, they have glasses and fruit filled water jugs to keep hydrated. Bring your own straws! The only ones they have are paper ones which disintegrates very quickly. They have refillable hand soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner and body soap in the bathrooms too which is keeping in the spirit of reducing waste which great! I recommend this resort!!

This is my first review I have ever written. We had 20 people in our group , have been doing these trips for over 15 years and I got to say this is the worst resort I have ever stayed at very out dated and under staff they ran out of beer and rum daily besides standing in line from 10-20 minutes to get a drink , our room didn’t get clean until after 5 on most days when we check in 5 out of 10 rooms had to be moved due to locks not working, ac not working mold , no curtains on windows etc , pool was the most disgusting I have ever seen never got in it was afraid what I might catch. I met with customer service twice ask if we could be moved next door to the suites I even said I would pay but was told no after complaining a few days they called and said they would move me if I would stop complaining but not the rest of my group . I was there with 18 other people . Ask for some refund and was to no . We left the resort several time just so we could make the best of our trip because this resort is in very bad shape nothing like what I have ever stay at before and I have traveled a lot .i did read reviews before booking our group but didn’t realize the grand and suites where what most good reviews were about . the rose hall beach is a complete dump traveler beware

we traveled as a family with our 72 year old mother with oxygen and scooter and my husband with low vision. This is a beautiful resort, staff are very friendly and eager to please. The swim up bar staff are amazing especially Jevon! The food was very good no complaints at all something for everyone i have a few picky eaters and they ate at every meal with no complaints even going back for seconds. OUr rooms were kept clean, we had 2 members of our group with a water leak from fire sprinkler they moved them to another room right away. The only issue I can say I had was how dark the hallways were especially during the day, my husband has low vision and has a Canine vision dog but because of all the restrictions Jamaica has with bringing pets into there beautiful island we had to leave him home, he had a hard time navigating the hallways he still has a little bit of vision but not much. The weather was hit and miss when we were there but all in all would definitely return to this resort!

I was there for a vacation and also a friends wedding. My first and probably last time time to Jamaica. Iberostar Rose Hall beach doesn’t come recommended, it comes with a warning. Our air conditioner failed, our clothes and our lungs were exposed to black mold, and our room ended up flooding. After wasting a half a day of our vacation, causing countless frustration between my partner and I, we were provided a room where the bed was very old and uncomfortable.

A concern I have is how long it took them to protect our safety given a flood, wiring, electrical issues. The building is old, there are a lot of components I do not relate to luxury on a tropical island.

Management, the staff at the front desk all seem to have a clueless demeanor, poor communication. I’ve never experienced anything like this in my life. They did provide a bottle of champagne and $100 to use at the gift store which is the equivalent of $30.

The elevator on one side of the hotel was out for the majority of the trip. Building lost power multiple times. I was locked out of my room.

We had friends nearby that needed to have their safe drilled open, that’s fun to listen to at 10pm...

On a number of occasions I was told they were out of certain ingredients to make cocktails, it’s unusual for an all-inclusive facility to say out right now or make an excuse and then to have it repeated multiple times is astonishing. The food was subpar. One exception, the hibachi was a good time. The Italian restaurant at this resort came with awful service, I buffet style antipasto bar which had no food in it.

The location of the hotel was nice, the entertainment staff and some of the hosts were confident and positive which made for some parts of the trip good.

I find myself writing this still on able to let go of frustration. I feel like they stole money and time for me.

Be warned.

We traveled as 3 couples Jan 18-25 I am writing this review at our last night in the hotel. This is my second time to Montego Bay and my 4th time using the Iberostar chain. The ladies at check in were delightful and very accommodating our rooms were not ready on our arrival but were given towel keys and asked to return in an hour to check on rooms. Our rooms were standard rooms and we could see the ocean from the balcony. The staff really make the experience exceptional a big shout out to the entertainment team although we were beach people and didn’t really participate in the pool games the worked hard all day trying to give you the best experience Our favorite staff in no order were
Lobby bar Patrice , Anthony and new trainee Waren in the dining room Shanique and Devon and lastly the lovely Cordelia akaMama :) Leonard the bell man and Latoya you ALL make our holiday wonderful and I am in awe how they handle less than thankful people We took a cab to Negril and we used Coswell he was great and patient as we enjoyed Ricks Cafe and the 7 mile beach
The food is excellent in this resort never in 10 yrs of travel have we eaten at a cleaner buffet with many different choices every night We did do the a la carted the steak house was our favourite of the three and all of us agreed that the food was best in the buffet . We also enjoyed the beach bbq daily to enjoy the jerk chicken or pork and the Jamaican patties
I would recommend this resort to anyone the kids club although we did have children there we saw the children having a good time with the girls Lastly I want to comment on the environmental practices reusable water bottles and no one use plastic even at beach bar
It is our plan to return to this resort next year .

There are a few tours within 1 hr but the others are about 30 more minutes drive each way . I have done most of the excursions in Jamaica been coming there for 30+ yrs . You can look for topchoicejamaicatours there are the ones i use for everything private . They can customize anything and they get all my clients yearly . You should not have any issues . I would recommend Rasta Safari Dune Buggy its about 50 minutes . Maybe even rafting on the bamboo or Luminous Lagoon those are within the limit. They offer a round town tour called Montego bay hilite its a drive around tour history and stops and so on . The airport is easy to book just go on the airport transfer page and look for rosehall .

You have to have shoes or sandals on and a shirt. When you go to the A la carte restaurants, there may be a dress code. They certainly won't deny you if you are presentable. You will feel more comfortable in a bit more dressier outfit but it doesn't have to be anything special. Don't go out and buy new clothes for going to a resort because for 90% of the time you will be in a bathing suit or shorts and a tank top. Some people go all out for clothes but I never have.
