About
Description
Set in a beautiful river front location, just five miles from the market town of Hexham, the George at Chollerford is a historic building dating back to the 1700's renowned for its fine food and hospitality. It More is great to have such a history behind the hotel as we feel we are doing an excellent job of keeping the tradition going, but we have also spent a lot of money upgrading a number of facilities in the hotel including the leisure club, with its swimming pool and gym, situated west of Newcastle we are in ideal spot for walkers, history buffs and gardeners alike - you will be spoilt for choice. The hotel is a perfect retreat in a location that we consider to be one of the most relaxing in Northumbria. Less

Quirky weatherspoons pub and restaurant. Small areas ideal for conversations couples and friends. Unlimited hit drink refills. All day breakfast or menu selection. Bit noisy at times but busy with family get togethers.

Just returned from the George on a five nights stay. Great location, right on the banks of the Tyne. Our room, which was large and spacious and very comfortable, ( thanks for the upgrade) overlooked the river. The food was very good, with a great choice and the waiting staff, wer

I think I would rate this hotel as a 7 out of 10, 'good' as opposed to 'average' or 'very good', but I felt the need to redress some of the shocking reviews which were unfair, at least to my mind. The location alone would warrant 2 stars, a beautiful setting on the banks of the T

Can anyone tell me if there are towels provided for the pool and sauna etc... Also, if there are robes to wear to the pool?
Hi Claire D We do not provide either of the above, people take their own towels with them. If you stay at the hotel we can provide additional towels. Hope this helps.

where are dogs allowed to go in the hotel please
Some 10 months later for answer, better late than never.. the answer is yes, you can bring a pooch though as we have a limited amount of dog friendly rooms so it on a first come first served basis, so to avoid disappointment please contact the hotel directly to book. However if the dog is in season, loves a howl or enjoys the occasional bar fight we ask for common sense and consideration of others kinda deal. Dugs (Glaswegian speak) are not permitted in food service areas for obvious reasons, health and safety and also the involuntary compulsion to surrender plate scraps to dog puppy eye hypnosis. Oh if we don't have rooms available and you still bring your dog please ensure windows are down abit, water is available and not parked outside someone's window as guard dog mode may create upset. In the off chance a question may take another 10 months for a response please call 01434-681-611 for a speeder reply :-)
