We booked the seascapes holiday home through punakaiki beach camp for a winter stay. i imagine this would be fantastic in summer but it was cold in winter. no heating except for some small fan heaters. We were two couples so one couple were in a separate cottage with no toilet, so in the night they had to walk outside to go into main house, it is in a great location, it wasnt cleaned very well. but would be a great place to stay in summer. the views were stunning.

Loved my stay here. So close to the beach and easy access to other attractions in the area. Communal facilities were really clean and tidy with indoor and outdoor tables for eating, hot showers and laundry facilities. Only thought my one person unpowered site was a tad pricey at $20. Loved my on site coconut ice cream.

To pay over $100 for a small cabi with room for a double bed, bedside cabinet, small table and chairs, no extras bar a jug (and we had just one cup!) is over the top! We had stayed in a motel on the way - double bed, shower, toilet and all - for the same price. Not even any water in the jug on arrival. Sure that is available in the kitchen a short walk away but sometimes it is the little things that count. We had a riverside cabin which is something of a joke. If you think you will be by the river for a swim, forget it. .

Perfect site next to beach. Witnessed the most amazing sunset. Stunning place and everyone there was respectful and quiet at night. Beach was lovely and peaceful - we enjoyed looking at all the different pebbles on the beach. Just a really nice place to get away. Close to the blow holes and entrance to walks and caves.

The campground is set in very spacious grounds with lots of trees for privacy. The cabins are good value for money and the amenities were spotless. We were almost the only guests so it might be different in peak season. The beach is amazing for rock hounds and you couldn’t be closer to the end of the Paparoa Track.

Well equipped and well laid out campground. Wonderful service from Sue and Craig with international quality during the shuttle ride to the start of the Paparoa Track. Craigs interesting commentary and the pit-stop at Wendys for coffee made it a real treat! Highly recommend this place!

An absolutely stunning location! When we checked-in we were guided very easily on where we could pitch our tent. We loved this area as it was near the beach and caves. The only minor thing is our payment didn’t go through online which is odd and meant we had to pay in person with the 3% surcharge which is a wee bit cheeky. The bathrooms also said closed for cleaning at 8:30am which was very strange. The bathrooms are a little outdated and we’re dark. Would definitely come back again though to pitch a tent as the experience was nice

Response from Manager Findlay', Owner at Punakaiki Beach Camp
Responded Nov 22, 2021
Hi there Soph, Thanks for your kind words, our online bookings are always only to secure the booking and payment is always on arrival. It says this in your confirmation and also says when paying by credit to bring another option :) Also our bathrooms are closed from 10am for cleaning not 8.30. Possibly you read our sign saying try to have your shower earlier as can be quite busy around this time, not sure. Glad you enjoyed your stay. Cheers

We recently did the Paparoa Guided Walk, and Craig picked us up from the Airport, and we stayed first night and last night at their Beach Camp. The hour drive was so enjoyable there and back mostly along amazing Coastline, with Craig giving us lots of interesting information on the area, the people, something we wouldn't have had if we just hired a car. The little tiny chalets we stayed in were private and just lovely, we enjoyed a wine on our deck, and went to sleep listening to the waves from the Ocean. They have a nice Tavern 50 metres away, a lovely Tramp across the road to enjoy for a few hours or a few days, a pretty River to hire a canoe or have a swim, and then the beach at your doorstep also, what more could you want for a little holiday away. Thank you Craig, we look forward to coming back.

Had a lovely comfy night at Seascapes House after coming off the Paparoa Track in the pouring rain! It was fabulous to get into a hot shower, then dry clothes and have the use of a washing machine and drier to tidy up all the wet gear.

Wow, what a spot. We stayed in on of the Riverside cabins for one night, had exceptional views of the wild West Coast weather through the valley. Great ammenities, comfortable bunks, bedding provided, and the "world's best whitebait patties" for dinner. Great service and lots of families. We can see the attraction of this beautiful place and we can not wait to come stay again!
