The hotel its self looked okay, the facilities are lacking. The hot water doesn't work at night, only during peak hours, even then, reaching warm at most. The beds are so uncomfortable, my partner and I had broken sleep, waking with a back ache on the first night. Only one thing pillow each, that barely helped at all. The twin beds kept slipping apart, as well as creeking every time we moved. Staff aren't friendly or helpful. Asked to swap rooms, they said no, all the matress and beds are the same, even though they advertised double beds. The bathroom looks like it could do with a deep clean, the seal around the toilet dirty and stained. The shower looks like it has mould along the grout. The drain on the floor is rusting, as well as smelling the drain system throughout the night. The only reason it got one star, was due to the location of the hotel. Lots of restaurants close by, the beach only a few minutes walk. Was an ideal location, just a poorly run hotel. Wouldn't stay again.…
relatively spacious rooms, large terrace, pool and bar . Clean, towels changed daily, bed linen every other day. Good location, promenade, restaurants, shops close to the hotel. City beach in the bay, not too clear water. Good traffic, easy to get to any place and beaches on the island.
We have just returned from a really lovely relaxed week staying at the popi star. We were greated by a lovely lady on reception, sadly I didn't get her name. She apologised for having to ask us for 3euro 50cent local tax! Room was comfortable and the balcony was equipped with a table and 2 chairs. My only complaint is the shower was cold, luke warm at best. I did report it asked maintenance to look at it, understanding that it is a solar powered system. Unfortunately it didn't improve, cold showers are too bad😂. That said everything else was fab. Great little pool area with plenty of sunbeds and pleasant bar staff. Loads of fabulous restaurants on the doorstep, we never had a bad meal anywhere! Loved the 02 old school rock bar, highly recommend the cocktails. The beautiful beach is pebbles but you can hire 2 sun beds and a parasol for 8 euros. Buy some beach shoes to get in the sea though. All in all we had a fab relaxing week and I will definitely return, already looking for next year!! Efcharisto popi star xx…
We had a lovely holiday at the Popi Star hotel. The room was quite basic but scrupulously clean, with fresh sheets and towels every couple of days. Everywhere was well maintained and the staff friendly and helpful. There was a huge choice of food for breakfast, to please everyone and there was plenty to go round. Everything was replenished whenever necessary which was amazing considering the amount of food some people took! The pool is quite small with some sun loungers around, though it never seemed busy. The Popi Star is situated at the top of the main street in Gouvia near shops and restaurants and a out a 6 minute walk to the pretty pebble beach. It's a charming resort and we're looking forward to going back again sometime soon.
