I wanted to write a review for anyone similar to me.
We have just finished our stay here, but right from the beginning we were greeted with a warm welcome. We were shown our apartment, where the safe was and how everything worked by a lovely member of staff. We had been left a bottle of water in the fridge for our arrival as the shops are a short walk down the road.
The apartments were clean and spacious. They could do with an update; however, for a base to sleep and get ready it was perfect! I found the beds to be comfortable. They had extra blankets and pillows and as the rooms downstairs could get hot we asked reception for fans which were promptly delivered to us. You have a basic kitchen area - fridge, freezer, oven, hob and sink. Air conditioning in the main part of the apartment and a TV where we put on ‘Kosmos’ radio of an evening which played well known songs. They have wifi, but I didn’t always find this to be the best, so if you are wanting to use your phone/ tablets etc… I would check what your data roaming allowance is first.
The apartments are cleaned every other day with fresh towels and sheets!
We spent most days by the pool area. They have a pool bar that serves a variety of drinks and food. It is open until 11 at night and the food is delicious and comes in great portions!
In the evenings we would walk 10-15 minutes down the road towards the bay where we found a variety of restaurants to eat. Everyone is friendly and accommodating and we were often given something on the house alongside the bill.
There is a few supermarkets close by, but as we only bought snacks for breakfast and lunch found the local markets that were just down the road to be enough.
We had a couple of trips out. Aqualand is a brilliant day out and has something for everyone. The bus stop is just outside the apartments and you can by an all day pass for €5 each. You can pay by card on the buses.
I read some reviews about the dogs barking, so packed some ear plugs just incase! I think I heard them maybe twice whilst down the by the pool; however, where our apartment was we couldn’t hear them at all.
All in all we had a marvellous time and if the opportunity presented itself, we would be back!
Accommodation was good/basic and clean, air conditioning was ok but needed to be on all the time to have a cool temperature and only cool in the main room.
Pool was also clean and tidy, staff were friendly and pool snack bar food was good, but a little on the pricey side.
Hotel is very close to local bars and restaurants with a wide variety of Greek food to choose from.
The bay at the hotel although very beautiful is not ideal for swimming in, as it is not clear water and has swans, geese and ducks also present.
Would recommend hiring a car from reception (54 euros) and travelling 40 minutes to the north of the island (Sidari) and then working your way round the west coast where you will truly see the beauty of Corfu.
The buildings are in good condition and attractive from the outside. The garden is cared for. The pool cannot be said to be large, especially considering the size of the resort and the lack of a direct sea beach. Next to the pool, we found quite a few sunbeds torn off, which were not taken out of use.
The furnishings of the apartments are minimalistic and simple. You can see that they have already served quite a few seasons. Some furnishings are in need of repair. There is air conditioning only in the living room, so the bedroom can only be cooled with this with the door open. You can't even open the window at night because of the mosquitoes. It was not possible to control the climate, because he did not even have his own remote control in the apartment.
There are two establishments in the resort area designed to serve the guests' dining needs. We didn't notice too much traffic, although their cuisine is not bad and their prices are below the Corfu average. There is no grocery store in the resort area, but several large stores can be reached within a few minutes' walk or drive.
All in all, if someone doesn't want to spend their vacation locally, but wants to use the resort as a starting point for day trips and more distant beaches, I can recommend it. In terms of price/value ratio, it provides what we pay for it. But this complex will not be able to meet high expectations and demands.
Accomodation: very dated but clean . Cleaning staff fantastic and came every day with fresh towels etc. Beds are single beds pushed together.
Our accommodation was one bedroom downstairs with 2 single beds pushed together, bathroom downstairs with a bath, shower hose in bath, toilet , bathroom smelt of drains eventhough window was constantly open. Living room with small kitchen area, 1 dated microwave and 2 electric plates. Ants were a problem eventhough we made sure to clean up and pur away all food. A TV with Greek channels only. Two couches which were supposed to be able to be slept on (sofa beds, but don't pull out) and were hard as nails. A loft area with two single beds pushed together.
The only Air conditioning unit in the entire apartment was halfway down the stairs of loft bedroom and living room which meant loft upstairs was freezing and downstairs bedroom roasting.
We tried leaving downstairs bedroom door, windows open and door to living room open to try and cool down at night but although we were slightly cooler we were bitten alive by mosquitoes even with plug in repellent.
The resort is situated beside a dual carriageway which is very busy and noisy all night which makes it extremely difficult to sleep.
Also be advised there is no shop on site but there is a small garage shop across the road which would cover very basic needs Nearest small supermarket type shop 20 mins walk to right of entrance.
The "beach as advertised" is a small estuary, pretty but stoney and not really suited for swimming.
The plus side is the pool and pool bar is lovely also the staff in reception are very friendly and helpful.
The nearby village of Govina to left of resort, 15 mins walk is great for restaurants , shopping and bars. Recommend the BBQ
Art restaurant l great food prices and lovely staff.
Bus (Nr.7) which will take you to Corfu town is across the road from the resort and comes every 20 mns.
This was my first time in Greece and I definitely will return but sadly it will not be be to stay in the Govina Bay Resort.

We were offered to move same type of poor quality rooms which was senseless she also said thats what we have to expect in there accommodation which is not not right thing to say as we know they have better accommodation as stayed before .
The food and staff at restaurant by the side of resort was exceptional and very friendly.
I will not be going back after coming here many years and quality very poor and receptionist very rude.
Don't waist ur money rooms look like the 80s and very minimal
Big supermarket close by and restaurant on site.
Pool was closed but we were informed of this prior to travel.
Friendly and helpful reception.
Would travel back and stay here again
I would go back in a heartbeat.
Once we started to walk around the resort, we realised that we made a big mistake but this all depends on what you want in a holiday resort and your budget. Sadly, this was not for us.
This resort looked very dated, in desperate need of some paint, pool was empty, grass was overgrown. The surroundings area was very dirty, rubbish bins were overflowing, the side roads were disgusting and really not suited to take a walk to a local restaurant, if you could find one. I understand that we arrived out of season but there are those families that prefer the quiet and on this occasion this did not tick any boxes for us.
We cancelled our check in that very same day and went to a Hotel instead which completely satisfied our every need and purpose.
Folks, don't be fooled by the photos.
