Prior to visiting we were hesitant after reading early reviews. Following a week's visit we were impressed by the hotel and would visit again. Our room was at the rear of the hotel and there was no noise from the service road located here. We did not experience shower issues in the room or queues at the bar (apart from peak lunch times), however, staff worked really hard and we didn't wait that long. Positives about the hotel: - We WOULD visit again. - Friendly staff. - Excellent room cleaning staff. - Relaxed atmosphere. - DJ Sikele was really good (played recent music). - We noticed improvements within the week's stay and this shows the hotel are trying, after recently opening. Negatives about the hotel: - On arrival the porter did not speak much English (arriving around midnight) and did not offer basic information such as restaurant/bar location or opening/close times. This was on the TV in the room but was not known at the time of arrival. Reception staff during day were really good. - Variation in lunch/dinner menu's and more variety other than pasta/pizza dishes. - Additional water machines needed, other than the restaurant to fill up water bottles. Ways in which the hotel can improve: - Variation in poolside music as this all started to sound the same after 7 days. - Descriptions on app menu so you can see what dishes are when it is not clear. - A salad, cold meat for sandwiches or pasta self-serve station at lunch/dinner in restaurant to assist served meals by the app. The pasta portions were sometimes too big for a lunch portion. Special mentions: - Bar staff Zoe and Vias with a friendly attitude towards guests, as well as other staff but can't remember their names.…
As one who fell in love with Corfu island and has already stayed in several places on the west side in the Paleokastritsa area, we decided this time to go for this new hotel located on the island in the town of Gouvia. About a 10-minute drive from Corfu town. Pros 1. New hotel (built on the basis of an old hotel) but all the facilities are completely new with an emphasis on beautiful, modern and spacious design - pool, gym, spa, dining room. 2. It is recommended to arrive by car, the hotel has no private beach and is adjacent to the main road, there were always parking spaces at least when we were even though the hotel was almost full For those who like the all-inclusive format, this is the right place - 3 meals a day, buffet breakfast, lunch, and dinner according to orders through the app, a wide and free alcohol menu 4. Large, spacious rooms, those who like a view of Kontokali Bay and the pool will take the 4th floor, take into account that these are the most expensive rooms. Cons 1. Other rooms in the hotel that do not overlook the pool face the back garden or the parking lot, taking into account that the view is seen there is less impressive and the adjacent pool rooms also face the back - on the other hand also less noisy !! (Which is also an advantage — I'll explain why soon). 2. The hotel is set for adults only but not necessarily really quiet, guests are probably young age adults around 20-30. Anyone looking for a 5-star Wellness Style Hotel is not the hotel !!! Dj in the pool who plays until late in the evening in a young atmosphere and alcohol is more like a Club Med hotel or a youth hotel, so take into account and those who want quiet will take the backyard rooms 3. The food was a big issue for us - quantity over quality - there is plenty in the morning buffet, eggs, cheeses, sausages, vegetables, bread, desserts, cold hot drinks but no variety, lunch and dinner menu showed in the menu you download in the hotel app where it is divided into Italian - pasta / Asian / Greek traditional pizzas, The options are relatively limited and it is not a buffet, they prepare it fresh in the kitchen and bring you to the table, the result - or you like the dish or you had to order something else and hope that it would be tastier, also we felt the diversity is not great in the amount of meat 4. The pool is crowded with young adults, the water temp a bit warm, and there are almost no places for sunbeds around the pool that scenario was on every day we went there. 5. A new and well-equipped gym is located in the middle of a beautiful garden, but the air conditioning is not strong, the hotel crew does not replace the towels so there is a lack of fresh towels, and don't take care of enough cold water bottles… it was hot in June, so this is necessary. 6. A la carte restaurant - The hotel's brochures state that every evening there is a limited number of places for a paid menu for more culinary upgraded food, it turns out the reception forgot to say that first the restaurant is closed on Sunday eve, we came on Friday obviously we had no chance to find a place and can not reserve before you check-in. ***It should be taken into account that the hotel is new and need more time to learn from their mistakes and therefore our reviews for this hotel are not so good Current reviews here and on another site such as booking.com also quite reflect our opinion, defiantly it's not a 5-star hotel !!!…
Sold to us as anew 5Star hotel opening in June 2020, adults only and ll inclusive. It is, in fact a refurbished hotel that, apparently, closed because of Covid. The bedrooms, bar area and reception are good quality (4-5 star) although toilet and shower cubicles shielded by pale blue frosted glass is unusual!. Also I do not expect Burgers o. Pizza as a five star al a carte restaurant. In general the food ws awful plus you had to download an AP and order from your table on the ap. If you tried ordering the complete meal, it came all at once, starter, appetizer, main. There was also very little change in the menu from night to night. The reataurant furniture was more like a school or works canteen. wooden benches, chairs and tables. You could have a "free" meal in the other (Poolside Restauarnt) once during your stay. Be aware, there were only some items included in the 'free' meal. If you want a steak, it will cost you between 40 and 90 euros - yes those figures are correct. The reception staff were excellent. But apart from that, there is little that I would recommend this so called (new) 5 Star hotel. Not new, not 5 star, not worth it…
We stayed here for 5 days and had a fantastic time. The hotel itself is beautiful. the pool area is a suntrap in the day and so beautiful at night. The staff are all wonderful and could not do enough for you. The food was nice. we did eat out a bit but we always do. we did not have to wait to long for drinks. there are 2 bars close to each other so if the line was long at one we would use the other. The staff remembered what you ate and drank and always asked how your day was. I would say the location isn't quite as described as the nearest beach is not really a beach. However there are plenty of beautiful beaches in the surrounding areas if you are willing to venture out. We hired a quad bike and were able to travel to multiple destinations I'm a day and still be back to use the hotel facilities. Gouvia itself is a lovely little area with amazing people and we old happily stay here again in the future. I feel some of the reviews are harsh for such a new hotel. If they carry on in the trajectory that they are now it could be 5 star in no time at all. Thanks for a really enjoyable stay!…
Just returned from a 4 day break with my daughter and am happy to say the hotel didn't disappoint.....the decor is stunning, rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff friendly and helpful. Pool bar food was good and we didn't experience any queues for drinks. Dinner in the Cantina was not exceptional, but the pizzas and pasta were ok, breakfasts were ok with a good choice. My only negative comments are that there aren't enough umbrellas compared to sun loungers which results in people having to get up early to reserve them (definitely needed in the 35 degree heat) and that the music can sometimes be a little too loud around the pool (this wasn't always the case though). However, this didn't spoil our holiday which was lovely and we didn't want to leave. We were very worried about all the negative reviews before arriving, but would say to take them with a pinch of salt, the good definitely outweighs the bad here.…
Like many others, We were very worried about the negative reviews, but we had an amazing holiday! We were very sad to leave! Nothing that we read on the reviews was an issue for us! The hotel looks exactly like the pictures, our room is so lovely and we had no issues with the shower like other people wrote about. The staff is so friendly and helpful! Lots of great tips from the reception staff and Elena from the pool bar is so lovely and friendly! The cocktails are really good and so is the food. There’s different options every day in the pool bar and in the restaurant, all freshly cooked and tasty! What we’ve done to avoid food coming at different times, which is normal as some is freshly cooked, is ordering 3 or 4 different dishes to share and eat as they come to the table. It’s not the traditional nuggets and chips all inclusive buffet, so if you don’t like to try different things, maybe this hotel is not for you. Unlike other people we had a lovely experience at the a la carte restaurant. There is sometimes a queue to get drinks but it literally takes a couple of minutes! The cocktails are really good! There are plenty of sun beds around the pool. The ones in the shade are usually taken earlier as it gets really hot, we spent most of our time inside the pool, which was amazing and not freezing like most pools! There is music I think from around 11am , it’s not super loud and it’s mainly chill out music, which is great and relaxing. You can definitely read and have a snooze. It was very clear in the hotel website that this is not a party hotel, I was quite happy not to have entertainment all day! There’s a bus stop outside the hotel and the reception staff was always helpful recommending places and printing the time tables for the buses! I think it’s really unfair that this amazing hotel has so many bad reviews from the first couple of weeks after opening as it definitely deserves an higher score!…
We visited this newly refurbished hotel for a week, commencing on 15th June. The hotel is beautifully designed and is stunning inside and out. The cleanliness is outstanding, you can clearly see that everything has been updated to fit with the boho vibes of the resort. We would definitely recommend turning the TV on and looking at the programme for the week - it has everything and all of the food times on there. We were very nervous about staying here, due to the initial negative reviews, however, I can confidently say the hotel has done their upmost to fix the problems others have mentioned. It has been a very positive and relaxing week away at a beautiful hotel. Positives: - Really friendly and welcoming staff - they couldn’t do more to try and make your stay at the hotel special. - One particular manager (I can’t remember his name, but he was a bald man who was always around the reception bar, pool area and pool bars) was very present at the hotel, whatever time of day. He was also happy to jump onto food service and bar when it got busy, which was great to see. He was very friendly and happy to chat, which was lovely. - Food was delicious! The menu on the app (for the main restaurant) changed daily, and there were at least three or four options per station (Greek, Tandoori, Pasta, Pizza, Salad) and we never got bored of the choices. We recommend that you order a few dishes and share them between yourselves, as the dishes are different sizes and it means you get to try everything (before the menu changes the next day). Food does arrive at different times, but that is because there are different food stations catering to you. We would definitely recommend sharing for this reason also, - Changes have clearly been made since the first few reviews and they are more than happy to act on criticism. - Room is stunning, just like the pictures. We had no issues with our shower flooding as others have mentioned, it would seem this issue has been fixed - at least for our room. - Pool bar - again, the menu changes daily but has the same theme, consisting of salads, burgers, fries, sandwiches and ice cream. We did not have to wait more than 10 minutes (even at peak times) for food. Staff on this bar was also extremely friendly. - Pool towels are available daily. They encourage you to only use 1 towel per person per day to help with their sustainability goals, which is good to see. - Reception staff lovely and helpful. Bellhop was around to take luggage to the rooms, which was a lovely touch. - Gym looked beautiful (didn’t use it though 😂). Yoga sessions available several times a week. - Reception bar - the staff were very good. You can see some of them have more experience than others, but they all worked hard to measure, and try to deliver the same cocktail every time. Really chatty and work very hard - a tip jar could do with being added to the bars. Negatives: - Not much to do in the local area. This is not the hotels fault though, just something the note. The journey to corfu town is around 15 minutes on the bus and there is plenty to do there. - We thought there was a lack of evening entertainment. The DJ plays on until the late evening, but no one really dances and it’s more background music. Other guests bought cards with them for entertainment whilst they sat outside with drinks. Would recommend others doing the same if an evening unless you’re planning on going out. - The sun beds were a little uncomfortable. People do go and reserve beds early in the morning and not start using them until later in the day, this made it difficult to get a bed after around 10:30-11:00am. The hotel says they don’t allow you to reserve the beds, however, this does not seem to be enforced at the minute. - A la carte Restaurant - there is an option to book this on the app, however this feature is not available yet, you have to book via reception. There is no drinks service to the tables, only wine. If you would like other drinks, you have to go and get them from the bar. There were a few items available, however not as many as you would expect (two starters, four mains and one dessert). The food was okay, if I’m honest I preferred the main restaurant to the a la carte restaurant. I would take a miss on it if I’m being honest. Improvements: - Food in the restaurant could do with being labelled when ordering on the app and buffet style during breakfast. This is essential for people with allergies and intolerances, as well as knowing what things are. Some meals contained nuts (which you wouldn’t usually expect) and you didn’t find this out until you were eating them. - Our flight was late in the evening and we queried with reception about late check out. Usually, you are required to check out at 12pm. For a cost of €80, you can have the room until 6pm. We thought this was a little steep, so asked if we could have the room an hour or two extra so we had time to shower etc. Reception staff kindly let us have the room until 13:30pm for free. - Room smell in 102 - very odd, but our room often smelt of the food being cooked in the main restaurant below. Occasionally, it did make us feel a little unwell as the smells were constant. We would often wake up in the morning or go downstairs for dinner already knowing what was on the menu. We believe the smell was coming through the vents and ac but are not 100% sure. We mentioned it to the reception, who kindly offered to swap our room, but it was more hassle than it was worth as we had unpacked and were halfway through our stay. This is something we’re sure maintenance could fix very easily once we are gone.…
We were also slightly worried about the hotel due to the reviews but please do not listen. All the points mentioned are incorrect no flooding, hardly a queue (if there was slightly this is expected at peak times) and the food and drink was great. We met Luna who was amazing and kept us well entertained, deffo one of the best member of staff so you must treat her well. Potential improvements- The music is OK was amazing on Saturday afternoon as was different DJ. At night there could be some entertainment but I appreciate the hotels chill vibe. The food is great but some description would be useful to avoid surprises. Overall we had a really fab 1 week away and I absolutely loved the decor, layout, room, staff and how relaxed it made me. Thank you for making the first post lockdown getaway great xo…
Like others I am so shocked by the negative reviews. I don’t doubt that the first week to 10 days probably was a little chaotic, like most new hospitality ventures. I’d say they got a handle on it all pretty quickly and resolved the niggles and staff training etc. I really cannot find any fault with the hotel. It’s EXACTLY as advertised. People moaning about the format and DJ clearly just didn’t do their research. It’s a modern hotel with an on trend vibe. Of course when the DJ plays it will be a chill out beat. It’s definitely not too loud. I could read, doze or chat without disturbance. In fact I found it quite hypnotic. Plus it’s not all the same sounds. Whilst aiming for a younger crowd that doesn’t mean any age can’t enjoy. But it does mean you should of realised the vibe when booking. Also the price paid as it’s a newly open hotel reflects the fact it might not be 100 percent perfect, but it’s pretty close. The way food is ordered in the restaurant wouldn’t suit everyone especially if they enjoy long slow relaxing dinners, which would be my preference. But, again it’s exactly what is advertised and explained and suited me as was just a short break with a friend and our focus is different. All the staff are working hard and very polite. The complaints about being understaffed again are such a little ignorant…. There is a global shortage in hospitality that is widely documented and that affects us all. But aside from taking drinks orders around the pool I couldn’t see how it could be improved on and wait times were nothing like what I’d read. Couple of minutes max! Seriously people stop with the entitled attitudes and enjoy what you have. Comfortable beds, good wine and an abundance of sunshine in a really lovely setting. Plus the little town is a 10 minute walk and everywhere very well priced if you fancy a little change of scenery! Don’t let the negatives put you off if the place sounds up your street.…
We arrived Monday, staying in a swim up room. Like many, had read the reviews prior to coming and were concerned. Seriously, forget the bad reviews, I’m glad we didn’t cancel. The hotel decor is stunning, the welcome from the reception staff and baggage man at check in was so friendly and informative. We arrived late as dinner service was ending but management advised they were happy for us to go and use the service anyway if we wanted. Pool area: Week commencing 20th June, I have not seen any issues with lack of sun loungers or “huge queues” at the bars that others have reviewed. The pool bar is open all day until 1am and the ladies working that bar are non stop ensuring everyone is served quickly. Also when people are complaining they don’t know what’s included and what’s not drink wise, just ask! We did and Lola gave us all the info we wanted, (short answer a hell of a lot is included!) Gordon’s gins, baileys, captain Morgan rums etc to name a few. I’ve not had an all inclusive include these branded spirits before without an extra charge. The DJ music is not overly loud so I can only presume previous complaints have been taken on board as the pool vibe now is spot on. Rooms: Rooms: We have a swim up room, these include sun loungers and a small table and chairs set, the sun reaches from about 1pm then all afternoon/evening. The decor in the rooms is lovely, boho vibes matching that of the whole hotel. Lovely large comfy bed. Limited channels on the tv (not that we watched much but when going to bed only a couple of channels in English available) again, not the end of the world, we didn’t book a holiday to sit and watch tv. Rooms made up daily by hardworking, friendly housekeeping. Food: Breakfast is served typical all inclusive buffet style, people complaining of it being repetitive, im not sure what more they could add to be honest. There’s pastries, pancakes, fruits, yogurts, cereals, breads and then usual cooked breakfast bits, bacon, sausages, eggs, beans etc etc etc. no complaints happily ate there every morning. Lunch is ordered via the app, we didn’t use lunch service as we eat breakfast late and just have dinner instead but the choices looked like typical pool snack foods, fresh pizzas, burgers/chips, pastas, salads etc. Dinner, we didn’t plan to eat in the hotel before arriving as we like to go out to eat of an evening but we tried it and it was lovely so we actually stayed in for dinner several nights! Recommend trying the beef ribs when they are on and the Greek pork curry. Although everything we had was lovely. Location: The location of the hotel is not the best if you wanted things on your doorstep. But we hired a car for three days and with a vehicle everything is so easily reachable, we went across to the west coast of the island for a quad biking tour and then went back another day to Paleokatsrita, this area has lovely sandy beaches and great places for boat trips. We hired a small boat privately and explored the local coves and enjoyed swimming in the sea. We used Seashell rentals and again, no issues would recommend. We also drove a few minutes from the hotel into Dassia, as soon as you enter this little area if feels more “holiday” bars, tavernas and lots of touristy shops. On evenings we went out we walked to Gouvia, which was maybe a 10min walk tops, here you will find bars, restaurants and shops. Melodies is a great pub, they have live entertainment, we saw their Elvis impersonator who was brilliant. I believe he’s on Wednesdays and Saturdays. We had 2 great meals at Vergina restaurant here too, lovely Greek place decorated beautifully with Greek music playing in the background, defo worth a visit. We also drove down to the old town, but I’d recommend going by taxi or bus if possible as trying to park was a nightmare! (In the day time). Overall would we return? Absolutely. Thanks for a great stay Cooks Club Corfu.…
