Location is superb, right on the main canal. The hustle and bustle of this lovely working town is right on your doorstep but you would not know it from inside. An old merchant's house with a slightly quirky decor but the rooms are spacious if you go for superior or above. Standard are a bit small for a couple but... More

I knew we would stay at Le Grand Hotel the moment we walked through its doors to make an impromptu reservation for three days over the Bastille holiday. This hotel, built in 1892, was recently perfectly renovated with arty and quirky touches of metal sculpture throughout, particularly in the lighting fixtures and the key holders. These touches impart a notion... More

A grand touring hotel of the last century, this has had a funky restoration and upgrade in recent years. Quirky iron work and statuary adorn the central atrium and stairwells. Rooms vary in size and facilities. Our on the third floor appears to be one of the biggest with doors in the corridor (which overlook the central atrium) indicating that... More

A wonderful traditional hotel, rooms vary in size but ask for a room with views of the canal. Excellent comfortable bed and a bathroom that is modern and clean. This hotel serves a wonderful breakfast in the most beautiful room.

Great hotel in an ideal location for experiencing Sete. Lovely rooms overlooking the canal. Rooms are a good size and very clean. Downside of this is the noisy seagulls in the morning. Breakfast 11€ for a basic French fair. Did not eat dinner here because too many restaurants along the key. If you don’t like fish, don't come to Sete

I must say ~I have finally come to the conclusion that TripAdvisor is terrible. I am never using it again. I was travelling alone and I took the suggestion from TripAdvisor for a place to stay and `i was totally misled into staying in a really horrible place that was absolutely disgusting and also quite expensive. Luckily i was able... More

We paid a little more to get the "large room" and it was well worth it. Lots of space, a comfortable bed, a sofa, good air conditioning, and you can't beat the location. Breakfast buffet was very good with unlimited brewed drip coffee, a rarity in Europe. The front desk was helpful. Decor was unique and interesting. The bathroom was... More

Had a wonderful 'girls' couple of days in the superb Grand Hotel Sete. We booked the special offer 'escale gourmand' which included a spacious twin room with a small balcony overlooking the canal, 3 course dinner for two in the elegant dining room, generous breakfast buffet in the Art Deco atrium casual dining area and a free bottle of Sete's... This once grand hotel still has an atmosphere of grandeur. Pros: - very central location, with parking - lift and grand staircase - our room overlooked the quay ... great atmosphere and views - easy walk along the quay into the town - comfortable, king sized bed - display of artists' work in foyer and restaurant Cons: - bathroom a... We stayed in this hotel 20 years ago and loved it, so decided to have another visit. We took advice from other trip advisors and asked for a quiet room and also parking in advance. As has been stated by others, parking is limited, seemingly to 8 places and is too narrow for big vehicles. The hotel is wonderful. We... More
