The rooms are clean and the food was amazing at the hotel. We had a great time going river rafting. In the middle of the rapid we stopped to have hot chocolate from a fresh water hot spring. Amazing day.
We only stayed one night here - but I think during the summer months, it can be crazy busy here. There are rooms in the main building (reception, restaurant, rooms), a camping area, a rv hook-up, and different sized individual chalets. We were in a small chalet (the ones way across the parking area from us looked like it could accommodate a much larger number of people, ie full kitchen). Only a handful of people so it was quiet - we really liked it! Very comfortable and very spacious, large bathroom, lots of hot water, no tv (perfect!), limited WiFi (in the main building). Breakfast was the standard Icelandic fare. We think because it was the end of the season, there was only a small staff on hand. Reception was an older person (think elderly aunt, grandma), not fluent in…
We were doing the whole road trip on Iceland and this was our first stop, so we stayed just for 1 night. A great place to stop. The staff is friendly and the place is very cozy. My room was really comfortable and had a nice view. The breakfast was also nice.
We camped there on the campsite. Paid about 20 euros. showers included . Closed shared kitchen , super cozy , with fire set . We went there in September so can’t say what it would be in high season, but we always had the kitchen to ourselves. Only 3 cars total( including a motor home). Beautiful landscape. Would definetly return if I had to.
My group of friends stayed here for two nights, and we stayed in two of the cute, cozy cottages. The cottages consisted of a large bedroom with a table and two chairs, a bench, wall hooks, a bar/ledge (that housed a coffee pot), and two beds. The bathroom was a nice size, and the shower had good water pressure. There was plenty of space for two adults in the cottage. However, wifi didn't work great in the cottages, but worked fine at the main building, which has the restaurant, bar, and a common space. We ate at the restaurant for two breakfast brunches and one dinner, and they were fine, but nothing to write home about. We also indulged in a beer and a shot of brennivin at the bar on our first night there. We white water rafted but not through Bakkaflot, so I cannot attest to…
I was a little bit worried because it was my first raft. But once I was in the boat, it was all fun! Very nice wild raft, beautiful nature, and a lot thanks to the kind river guides! I will recommend this to you all when you visit Iceland!
This is a very nice family-run establishment a few miles off of the Ring Road in farm country. We were in one of the seemingly new cabins and it was quite nice. Very roomy, as was the bathroom. Clean and comfortable. Lots of room for luggage, and a table and chairs. The breakfast was basic. The young man at the front desk was very helpful, and directed us to the hidden Reykjafoss waterfall a few miles away. The free wifi works best in the main building.
I had an excellent night at the Bakkaflot guesthouse. I was traveling alone and so had a perfect single room with everything I needed and convenient clean shared bathrooms. Finnur and his family were extremely welcoming and made sure I had everything I needed. They also operate a good restaurant where I had a delicious meal of lamb with a reasonably priced (important in Iceland!) beer. The guesthouse itself is beautifully located in the countryside, so it feels relaxed and has some lovely views of the surrounding valley. There are also many other types of rooms and cottages for whatever type of lodging you might need. I recommend it! And don't miss one of their rafting trips.
A good and cozy guesthouse with okay rooms, good bathroom facilities and a lovely hot tub and swimming pool. The hospitality of the staff makes Bakkaflot a 5 star Guesthouse. They serve a good breakfast a great diner and can arrange a perfect `on the road lunch package`. Next to the great food they are always willing to help you out with any kind of questions.
The people at this place really went the extra mile for the group I was in and made a huge effort to make us feel welcome. The rooms were clean. The food was very good and when I was there there was an icelandic holiday and for dinner we were served some traditional icelandic meals.
