The Repose, is an oasis of calm in the heart of Sale's traditional medina, Rabat. Lovingly restored by the owners, Rachid and Jan, this luxury riad has been renovated and decorated using traditional materials and craftsmanship to give a haven of peace and tranquility. The whole riad oozes Moroccan charm and each of the 4 suites has its own unique identity. The salon is ideal for dining in the cooler months, reading a book or playing games. The courtyard is great for sipping tea, listening to the splashes of the fountain, while the terrace is fabulous for breakfast, sunbathing or siestas in the shade. With Rachid and Jan on-site, the hospitality and customer service are second-to-none and the combination of their local knowledge and awareness of international expectations ensures a warm and comfortable stay.

We stayed here as our last Riad before heading home. Very glad we did. Jan was a perfect host and the place was the best of both worlds - true Moroccan charm with Jan’s English experience finessing the experience. Sale may not be the first choice of destinations - but we found the place charming - hassle free and very friendly. Plus - a quick boat ride away from the Rabat.

We discovered this beautiful boutique riad (guest house) through a narrow avenue of local doorways and were greeted by the owner/manager/guest liaison officer/concierge Jan, originally from Bristol UK. When we enquired, she was happy to share her story of how she came to be married to a local. We were invited to view all of the individually themed rooms, which are large, and delightfully and tastefully decorated. Furnished with a map of the local labyrinth of streets, we made our way into the bustling business area before a visit to the carefully restored nearby Madrassa built in 1333. The 60 dr entry fee is well worth the visit. Spent several hours up on the garden terrace, marvelled at the setting sun and listened to the synchronised call to prayer from the surrounding mosques. Dinner was a feast on the eyes, nose and taste buds-all food being locally produced-the tagine was exceptional as was the service. A quiet and comfortable night's sleep before another breakfast feast. Highly recommend The Repose.

This is the first time I wish that I could post 6 stars. This Riad is 1) fantastically located: As where we got hassled in every other Medina in Morocco, the Medina next to the Riad is chill and you can go about your way like a local. Walking around visiting the stalls was a great experience. Great Bargains! As per Jan's advice we took a fisherman's boat across the river and visited the Kasbah and beaches. Its a great part of town. Had dinner on the beach and took the tram back to The Repose, all super easy thanks to Jan. 2) The Repose should be featured in Architectural Digest. Owner Jan has decorated the rooms with individual themes, unlike anything I saw anywhere else in Morocco. Truly amazing, make sure you go see the recycled room! 3) Jan is very welcoming, tea and cookies upon arrival and she patiently explains to every guests the surrounding sites and restaurant recommendations. Keep in mind that Jan offers a vegetarian meal on her rooftop which is also a beautiful setting. 4) Breakfast was the best I had the entire two weeks I spent in Morocco. 5) So while The Repose still is immersed in Morcoccan style and architecture owner Jan just does it like no other when it comes to hospitality, service and food. Highly, Highly Recommend.
