I have traveled a lot. And this is by far the worst place you can imagine. We left after one night - no refund. It is so outdated, old and broken. The room was a mess, cracked walls, bed barely held together, only one electricity socket in the whole room. It was dirty. The towels had old stains on them. The floor was filthy and dusty. The one pan and cooker they had along with glasses and plates were so dusty. No sponge or detergent to wash the dishes. The curtain in the tub was dirty and messy. The restaurant was closed, the "beach" holds maybe 20 people max and it is all concrete. In the town of Jelsa you have absolutely nothing to do. Go anywhere but here if you don't want your vacation ruined completely!!!

The worst hotel I have ever stayed in other than in Cuba, and that’s saying something. The decor is extremely jaded and tired. The bedrooms were incredibly basic and the bathrooms were not very clean. The food at breakfast was inedible and the coffee was even worse. The staff were miserable. We had to climb down 130 steps to our rooms with our luggage, unaided. The photos online bare no resemblance at all to the reality. It is the saddest place I have ever had the misfortune of staying at. The The only positive thing is the location and the sea view. Do not stay here......Go camping instead !

Ok...I will start with the positive. Nice check in experience. Great staff at the pool bar and the bus boys & girls at the buffet. Food was ok. Now, for the rest.... Room - Awful! Smelled, the WORST beds ever! Our bed was literally the shape of a boat! Springs protruding in my back. Couldn't roll over without waking my husband. Bathroom - clean but very outdated! Every tile was cracked or chipped. Good water pressure and always had hot water. No fan in our room as advertised. When I called for one, I was told I would have to wait 4 hrs for maintenance. I waited 6 hrs, no fan. I called again. The gentlemen at the front desk advised they would come with one. An hr later, no fan. It was approx 35 degrees Celsius in our room. When I called reception, the man laughed at me, his female co-worker shushed him. I called him out on it, he said he was laughing because they had a hard day at reception. He advised they didn't have any. He then sighed and said he'd be right at our room. He brought one to us. I asked if there was another room with a better bed. He advised the hotel was old, built in the 70's. I told him I was just wanting a bed, didn't care about how old the property was. He spoke over me and was very rude. Didn't care about my issue. So I thanked him for the fan and saw him to the door! The property is huge, so many stairs. No help getting out bags to or from the room. 100 stairs! The young girl at the buffet checking room keys was rude...every day. Chomping on her gum. Playing on her phone. Not a smile to spare. Upon check out, 5 am, two days early...the gentlemen didn't even ask how our stay was, if everything was ok...not normal. I asked him if he wanted to know why we were leaving early, he just looked at me and said, "the weather". I laughed out loud. Told him because we had a horrible stay. As other reviews stated: wouldn't recommend this place to my enemy and as my favourite review wrote, camp in the park!!! Lots of great restaurants and cafes about 10-15 min walk. And many better places to stay!!!

I stayed here with my partner for one night (it was supposed to be two) and it was terrible. Upon arrival we were greeted by a bus load of school children who were staying on the complex. Alarm bells were ringing. We then went to reception and 'checked in' we were given room two in the Leo block. We arrived at night and quickly discovered the lighting was terrible on route to the apartment and when we eventually got into the room we discovered some of the lights inside did not work either. The shower head was not in a holder as it had been broken. There were no plug sockets by the bed so charging your phone at night was a pain. There was no air conditioning and the room was very hot with a standard fan. The toilet flush initially worked. The tv was a small sqaure shape which is probably 25 years old. There was specks of blood on the sink. We used the shower and the bathroom flooded and then stunk of urine as it had a drain in the floor which i imagine was blocked this smell leaked out into the bedroom. Putting all that aside we braved going to dinner. It was a buffet style arrangement of help yourself. The meat looked ropey so i steered clear, the only thing i dared to eat were chips and onion rings. My partner was a bit braver and tried some fish which she said was boney and tasteless and pasta with a very thick white sauce which was in her words pretty minging. She was told we could not eat there as we didnt have a wrist band allthough we had paid for dinner included. We explained we were not issued one upon arrival and the staff walked away. Then as we tried to enjoy our beautiful food we had to listen to baby shark blasting as an entertainer annoyingly danced around the pool with some children. We ended the meal prematurely and went back to the room. This is where we heard people shouting as the walls were paper thin. By that point we had allready decised to book alternative accomdation. We left the following morning not before sampling the breakfast. I noticed a tray of sauces which looked as if they had been left out from the previous night. Again the food was very poor and we stook to bread butter and nutella. My partner picked up a manky looking banana and an apple to take with her. (I prefer the greener bananas this one was, ripe by all accounts). The waitress on the door stopped her from leaving and stated she could not take food from the room (i assume this was a first time occurence of this happening allthough it was just fruit). So we left it behind. The room we had was nothing like the rooms in the photos. This was dissapointing as the setting it is in is beautiful. Needs a massive revamp to get it anywhere decent standards. P.s the plug sockets we used and the mirror light switch in the bathroom all became extremely hot and felt dangerous to be left on.

Whether you fancy a dirty room and stained sheets, no aircondition or wifi so slow that you just give up on using it - Fontana is the hotel that satisfies all these needs. If you are over 1.80m in height your feet will dangle out from the bed, or your head for that matter if you choose to have your feet supported instead. Door handles, cabinets and lamps are one tiny whiff away from falling off and there is a chance that you will get a room (more like cabin) where it smells like an dead opossum just moved out. To be fair, the location is perfect - close to the sea and Jelsa City which is probably also why the hotel i rated two stars and not just one. If you're wondering about the food served here, i would say you are definitely better without it, which is pretty convenient if you are planing to loose some weight. Still... I wouldn't wish for anybody to stay here, not even my worst enemy
