The staff was lovely, and helpful from beginning to end. Solid place to stay as a lunching point for excursions. Next to some nice restaurants / coffee shops like Tree Hugger. Rooms are a bit loud as the hallways echo and you can hear every slam and conversation happening in the hallways and service rooms. If you're trying to get to bed early for an excursion - I was kept up and and woken up throughout the night.
Hotel is perfect if you want to access Phong Nha, they provide all sort of tours and are one of the most reasonable in that sense. Hotel is located in a vdery conveneint location close of cafes and few of the available restaurants in Dong Hoi. breakfast was amazing.
The room was clean, but nothing fancy. Friendly staff, breakfast was max average. We went with the same company to "Tour to the caves" --> see seperate post. This was 5 stars. We also did the DMZ tour with drop of in Hue, this was 2 stars (no tourguide, poor communication on the half day trip).
Great staff, good organisation of the tour to the caves, tasty breakfast - good options, spacious room, good shower pressure and temperature. Good location for walking to the cultural bits and restaurants. Uncomfortable pillow, showers head didn't point down the bathtub and either faced the wall or the floor outside the tub. Lots of stairs, no elevator. Very disappointed by the bus recommended by the staff. We didn't understand what a 'local bus' meant and it wasn't explained to us. A local bus is a small van that should seat 20 but in our case sat 25-27 or so. Very crammed with luggage and people, super loud as the locals were all shouting at each other. I blasted my music and still couldn't drown them out. Constant stopping to pick up/drop off people and parcels.
Nam Long Hotel, Dong Hoi The Nam Long Hotel is situated on the exquisite promenade next to the mighty Nhat Le River, with a direct view of the bridges and the iconic Tam Toa Church ruins. Decor is tasteful and simple with tiled and wooden features throughout, including beautiful wooden clad ceilings. The reception area even has a Koi pond! There’s a bit of a stair climb to the best rooms with the balconies, but when you get there, you will be rewarded with arguably the most spectacular river city views in Dong Hoi. The evening vista of the colourfully lit bridges and the city lights reflecting in the water is a view I will never get bored of. The rooms are super clean and spacious with air-con, fans and wifi. I stayed in the dorm, which is huge and had, for the most part, to myself for 5 days. The beds are a good size with firm mattresses and comfortable pillows, complete with fresh white cotton sheets every day. Location wise, it is near to everything good and just a few minute ride to some stunning, idyllic sandy beaches. The staff are simply wonderful and I want to thank: Thu Hiep, Lan, Hanamichi, Hanh, Hang and Linh for their impeccable service with transfers, housekeeping, booking tours and everything in between. The hotel and staff made this stay absolutely wonderful and would very much love to stay here and see them again.…
I was really impressed with the hotel service. Staff and manager are very friendly, always smiling and helping you while you are here. Clean rooms, large beds and beautiful views. You should make a plan to stay more than 1 day so you can visit the caves and explore this city. Dong Hoi is a beautiful and quiet city. You can ask to borrow a bike for free to explore city by yourself. They also own a company that organizes tour to the Phong Nha national park, you can book a tour in advance and request a free pick up when you arrive at Dong Hoi, which is very convenient and I appreciated it.
The hotel is located in the city center, convenient to go to the beach, market, park and has good restaurants around. Facilities are no longer new but acceptable for the price. Staffs are extremely friendly and speak English well They also have tours to Phong Nha with careful preparation. Pick you up free from the train station and after the tour you can ask them for a free shower before moving. Everything is perfect!!
Let me start by saying the fact that there are 400+ very good or excellent reviews and only 12 poor or terrible reviews should show you what you need to know. The owner greeted us at 6:30am (we’d just arrived on a sleeper bus). He was warm and welcoming and said we could have breakfast after we’d checked in. He was slightly annoyed with himself that he couldn’t offer us a shower but the hotel was completely full! He greeted people as they came down for breakfast and asked what plans they had for the day. He offered advice, based on the weather, if they should visit only one or both caves (dark caves involves swimming and a mud pool). We went out on our excursion (his wife kindly calling them to make sure they had the right address) and when we came back he asked if we’d had a good time (even though we went with a competitor). We checked in to the room on the third floor (no elevator as a word of warning) and the room was lovely but the balcony was amazing with gorgeous views of Dong Hoi. If you look at the care and attention he has gone to to reply to the negative comments, you get an idea of how much pride he has in his establishment. While we were there he was replacing broken stones in the lobby (that’s maintenance to the people who complain about tools and work being done!) Thoroughly recommended!…
Very nice staff and place. Clean, comfy beds, nice wiew from the balcony. I was kindly welcomed, although I arrived in the middle of the night without booking. Free bikes. Went to the long sandy beach. There are even motorbikes for rental, if you want to explore the surroundings and caves
I had an amazing stay here in Don Hoi. I think what distinguishes this hostel is its friendly, English-speaking staff. They were amazingly helpful to make our stay even better. Plus the room we stayed in was really clean and spacious. What was better it was really cheap.
