This hotel is located very near to the entrance of West Zha. There are buggies to take you there from the welcome area but it is a very short walk along a covered walkway if you prefer to take a stroll. This is a 5-star facility where they have done a very nice job of preserving the original look on the exterior and yet have a contemporary feel for the interior. They offer rooms overlooking the stream and those are priced at a slight premium. The garden view rooms are just as good. The location is excellent as it is right at the start of the 1.5km path of eateries and shops, but yet is far away enough to enjoy the peace and tranquility from the bustling crowd that is outside. Room rates typically come with breakfast which in my opinion, is one of the better ones offered by Chinese hotels.

We arrived at Wuzhen today. As part of a tour grp we checked into Tong An Hotel. It is a very nice traditional-looking boutique hotel; very clean and spacious. Our room has a picturesque river view of the water town. However what made our short 1-night stay really exceptional was a staff by the name of Mr Xu Zheyi. Our 9-yr old child became whiny after dinner and I had to accompany her back to hotel, while the rest of the family members continued their walking tour of the night scenes. It was when i reached back at the hotel did i realise that i left my purse with one of my family members. As our child was so insistent of having a cup of milk there and then, i had no choice but to approach the counter staff to ask if I could borrow some money for this matter. Without much hesitation, Mr Xu tried to help by handing out his own money and said very big-heartedly that I can just use first. I truly appreciate his kindness. He is really exemplary in his service and attitude. It is staff like Mr Xu that makes our stay in your esteemed hotel so pleasurable and memorable. Thank you Mr Xu Zheyi for rendering this assistance to us, esp to a child who needed the warm milk before she could get to sleep.

A group of friends decided to make a short trip to Shanghai and the Yellow Mountains (Huangshan) We got our travel agent to make all the travel arrangements , visas, hotels and all meals. We wanted hotels that were not from the well known chain of hotels. We were not disappointed, as our lovely, unique, hotel was set in the centre of this water village. We arrived in Shanghai airport and went straight to our luxury coach and were driven to the hotel, quite a journey, but the highways was very smooth, and safe, and we arrived late in the afternoon as the sun was setting. Good time to arrive as the crowd visiting the village during the day were all leaving. We were then driven to the hotel by " golf "buggies as no cars are allowed in the village .We had to cross an ancient bridge to the entrance of our hotel. Check in was very efficient and all are luggage were identified and delivered to our rooms if required.(some preferred to carry the own luggage) The decorations were the old China ,we were pleasantly surprised at the amenities as we were expecting just a basic clean room, but the bathrooms had all the usual bathroom amenities, nice fluffy towels , bedroom slippers etc. Our room overlook the river which was quite amazing as boats, rowed by the boat men, just passed our window. Dinner was very good and the food served was delicious, with plenty of varieties. Breakfast was buffet style with mostly Chinese cuisine, however there are a selection of cereals and freshly cooked omelets, boiled eggs sausages and freshly brewed coffee!. If you are not familiar with Chinese food , I do recommend you try some of the dishes, they are delicious The evening we walked around this ancient water village and it was lovely to see the boats passing by and the weather was just nice about 17degrees Fahrenheit. There were many little quaint shops selling gifts etc. and some sold local food and dessert. The evening walk around the village was really charming, wished we could stay longer but after such a long day we were ready for bed. The next morning we went on a boat ride along the canals and and we were able to see the river and the well preserved buildings along the canal ways. This water village is over 200 years old and all the buildings were well preserved and some are even used as home stay. All the bookings for the hotels are booked through a central booking hotel site. We had a very good tourist guide and his English was excellent, very knowledgeable of the history of all the places we visited and was able to quote Chinese poetry and sayings and then translate correctly into English , we were most impressed. China is vast country and to find a very competent guide in your language is most important as they can make your visit much more interesting and memorable. I don't usually recommend the tourist guide but he was very competent (compared to some of my previous guides in my other visits to China) and he even made sure that our food was of a high standard. His name Mr.Philip Tong , Huangshan Confident International Travel Service Co.Ltd. Email yuwenyinzhou@hotmail.com We then continued our journey to Mount Huangshan the next day by coach and enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

This is not not a hostel. Probably the biggest hotel of Wuzhen, with a swimming pool, restaurants and conference halls, bars, cafe’s... etc As most hotels in Wuzhen, this one is quite good as well, and they finally got rid of that horrible Kenny G music they used to put everywhere some years ago. However, try to avoid the rooms on the ground floor adjacent the main hall, because people here (tourists and local workers) are shamelessly noisy, even at 6am.
