Welcome Our hotel welcomes guests with and without disabilities. We offer them the chance to enjoy their holidays in a relaxed and welcoming environment. The Hotel The hotel is located in the old fishing village of Los Cristianos, in the south-western corner of Tenerife, and offers a general concept that is completely barrier-free. All the buildings are built in Spanish style, staggered over two floors and equipped with their own lift. The few areas with stairway access are equipped with ramps to ensure people with disabilities can move around barrier-free. Located around 400 m from the sea promenade that is approx. 8 km in length, the Mar y Sol was built on a slight elevation and has an atrium-shaped layout with a pleasant pool area in the centre. We offer: • A privately-run hotel • Spring-like temperatures with optimal holiday weather all year round • A completely wheelchair-accessible hotel. All rooms include a barrier-free shower and most bathrooms are equipped with a raised toilet and grips • WiFi access throughout the complex and in all rooms • Two large pools with hoist (maximum weight 110kg), one heated all year round (approx. 32°C) • Accessible sports hall (530 m²) • 24 hours emergency service • Nursing aids can be booked for time-slots • Appliances for hire (electric beds, hoists, air-mattresses, electric wheelchairs, etc.) • Modern therapy centre with a variety of individually-tailored holistic and traditional treatments • Wheelchair accessible transfer • Adapted care hire for drivers with disabilities • Mini bus hire with elevator platform to transport wheelchair users • Dialysis treatments in a nearby hospital

Mar Y Sol is a very scarce resource : a hotel which is designed and adapted specially for the needs of wheelchair users, others with disabilities and their families. Some hotels claim to be wheelchair accessible but usually all that means is that a handful of rooms have wide doors or bathroom handrails. Mar Y Sol has adapted rooms throughout, ramps, pool hoists, shower chairs and other equipment to cater for disabled needs including a heated pool and a lifeguard on hand to support them. The food is varied and of good quality too. The hotel is not new and is only classed as a 3 star. This is possibly because it lacks air conditioning in the apartments and studios although plug in fans are available on request. The town of Los Cristianos is not particularly attractive. The seafront is busy and bustling and the high rise, unrestrained architecture nearby is, let's just say, not to everyone's liking, but you know that before you go. Many of the guests appeared to stay within the hotel environs and who can blame them. Aside from that, it is uphill from the sea. There are very very few accommodations in Europe so well equipped for people with special needs and none that I know of in North America. For that the owners deserve thanks and appreciation.

Great hotel, completly wheelchair accessible with ramps, lifts and wide doors. Friendly staff, all areas are clean and food is help yourself breakfast and evening meals, tastes great. Pool is heated and easy to get hoisted in and out of with help from the life graud. Rooms are big enougth for wheelchair to go round very easy. You do need to pay for wifi which works and pay for drinks after breakfast. Only 5 minutes walk down hill to the beach, ok for me got a power wheelchair.

Thank goodness I’ve left I’ve forgiven everyone that anything to do with that hotel 🙏 I’ll get good karma & they get bad karma If you like to be scammed this is the place for you, I had so much trouble there with restaurant manager, chef, waiting staff, they make really disabled people non alcoholic drinks saying there’s alcohol in there, I was meant to be on special diet of white fish in white sauce & boiled potatoes! I refused to return there for 6 days which I already paid for & they wouldn’t return any money for me to eat out, they lie all the time & cleavers take your stuff, what a time getting my towels returned to me & they told me to have different colour than white like black 😑 I’m a 54 year old women who’s travelled the world 🌍 & this is the worst hotel I ever stayed in

What a welcome at arrival. We were greeted on arrival with the utmost curtesy and helpfull manner one loves when first time at a new destination. Everything was to the dot organised and well planned. A room upgrade was handled with generosity and a five star service. It was our first dedicated wheelchair holliday with our boy, who is a C4 paralised from the shoulders down. We had booked beforehand a hoist and other assistance equipment, which was already waiting for us in the room when we arrived. Booking a massage or physio was as curtiously handled as all other needs during our stay. Everything is barrier free and a transport to town is as easily ordered as walking/driving with the wheelchair. The distance from the Hotel to the beach takes not longer than 10 ~ 15 min and from there into the city centre just anouth 5 min. Las Americanas is easy to get to with the taxi and costs about €7. The lifts at the pools are readily available for disabled people to go for a swim and special support equipment. You travel alone with your wheelchair, you dont need to be concerned, because all concieveable help is available at the hotel. A waiter happy to assist you getting your choice of food from the buffet. A 24hour in-house nurse and carers are available as well. I would think it is the ideal place to stay when disability is a factor. It is not a 5 star hotel in one of the many modern concrete buildings you can find here. It is a lovely family Hotel, managed by a family with past experience when dealing with a disability and with a maximum of warmth one wouldn’t imagine if you’re able to comunicate with others. There is also a wheelchair accessable beach, which provides a beach wheelchair and help, hoist, to be able to experience the sea. Just fab.

I took my wife last February 2017 as we have not been abroad for some years due to her MS. Nothing was trouble for the hotel as to changing hoist and making us feel safe. It was the 1st time in 17 years my wife has been in a pool. On the experience we had we re booked to visit in September 2017 again had a great time . Food great and selection on offer . We are now booked to stay again for 10 days from this sunday 18th to 28th February. Taking with us two carers to help me . Anyone looking for a break and great facilities this has everything you could possibly want. Mike Willis & Cheryl Willis Lincolnshire

It was ok. Staff were friendly and there were no issues. Rooms got a bit stuffy - resulting in having to have the patio doors open all night and food was mediocre. I’m fully mobile but I was concerned that some ramps in the complex were a bit too steep for some disabled people to self mobilise. Other than that I think they had a lot of facilities to accommodate many types of physical disabilities . The rooms were self catering but were set up in a strange manner. There was a cooker and hob but no cooking utensils. There were mugs but no kettle. So in summary there was a lot of equipment in the rooms that could not be utilised. I liked the fact the hotel was promoting personal dignity of disabled people. However I was disappointed in the fact that to get rooms cleaned you would have to put a sign outside your room adverting Loro parque. For a hotel that promotes the dignity of all humans i find it strange that they would want you to advertise a company that profits from the indignity of other highly intelligent mammals (orcas). Considering how controversial loro parque is I find it rather bizarrre that they would promote them so much. For this reason I cannot give them more that 3 stars

5 th time here with 2 of my clients and 2 staff. Rooms looking onto the pool, good view. Plenty of choice in the restaurant. Arrived at 9.30 pm no dinner provided but we were given a lunch voucher. A few discrepancies re. Shower chairs, hoists and adapted beds from le roc next door. On arrival had the neighbour from hell out shouting at us at 10 pm for making noise. Every night she was out shouting at us because 1 of the clients expresses himself by noise. We had reception phoning us and the security guard in our room. This hotel is supposed to be for people with certain needs think she needs to move to another hotel. Reception said they had bother with her before. I was given a row 1 day for playing my music at the pool quietly. This is the most boring hotel we have stayed in no music at pool , nothing really going on. Same entertainment has been going on for years nothing changes.
