There is much to enjoy about this hotel. First, the positives : the rooms are absolutely lovely, each with its own small sitting room with sofa and chairs and fridge, large spacious bedroom with two huge beds and air-conditioning and a lovely spacious bathroom with jacuzzi bath and separate shower and double sinks. Each room has its own private courtyard with loungers, and a small table, chairs and umbrella outside the front of the (detached) rooms which look out over the gardens, and in our case. the sea. The rooms were immaculate and spotlessly clean with very good cleaning service every day. We stayed on a half board basis - they do not serve lunch. The restaurant staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Their service was extremely good. A few nights a week they serve a buffet supper, the other nights it's an a la carte menu (meat, fish and vegetarian options). The breakfasts were very very good and catered for all tastes : fresh tropical fruits, meats and cheeses, pastries, cereal and yoghurt, hot food and cooked-to-order bacon, eggs and crepes. Dinners were less successful; buffet dinners were, in my opinion, much better than the a la carte which we both found pedestrian and not particularly refined. Some dishes were good and the fish was well cooked (not overdone), however some things arrived which were unidentifiable. The puddings were not good; on one evening the chef was happy to serve a split custard to guests when it really should not have left the kitchen. Other puddings were dry cake-like things with bright green or pink food colouring. A tiramisu was nothing like a tiramisu in any form I've ever seen or tasted. For a balanced opinion, my husband preferred the a la carte to the buffet; the buffet was good as you could see what you were getting. Wine list ok, not brilliant, but also not expensive. The pools were lovely and clean and well maintained, as were the grounds. We really enjoyed that element of our stay. Drawbacks are fairly significant. There is NO bar, food or drink service in the hotel during the day, from after breakfast until 6pm when dinner is served (you can choose a later dinner time). The hotel advertises a bar which is woefully misleading, as there isn't one. This means you cannot get so much as a bottle of water or a coke during the day - quite frustrating in 29 degree heat, and also very odd. No snacks available. Deeply irritating was the fact that they advertise bar facilities which are not available. They also advertise room service and even have a room service menu in each room - but there is no room service. This is pretty unacceptable. Lack of information is therefore a problem. We discovered quite by chance a small restaurant and bar just oustide the hotel which opened at 12 noon and we bought drinks and snacks from them to take to the pool. Later we discovered that there was actually a gate from the hotel directly to the restaurant, however we were not told of this. The restaurant is not affiliated with the hotel, which means you cannot charge food and drink to your room and pay in one go. We found the external restaurant very delicious with excellent seafood and great cocktails. The hotel is in a quiet resort and this should be noted by anyone who wishes for nightlife and a party environment. There is a small village with a Spar and a few restaurants; most ameneties available. The hotel is close to the beach (not directly on the beach - about 5 mins walk) and the beaches are wide and sandy, very clean. A good variety of beach bars serving great food. Rockpools and paddling for kids and more than enough space on the beaches not to be crowded; loungers and umbrellas available. Windsurfing etc is available, but probably on in season. We loved our holiday as we were specifically looking to rest, unwind, swim and sunbathe, and it was perfect for this. We enjoyed the hotel and the rooms in particular were very very good value and well equipped. We made much use of the little fridge and bought our own drinks (although it would have been good to know about lack of drinks etc during the day on our arrival). All in all good staff, good quiet location, very clean, generous rooms, great pool and mediocre food with no room or bar service which was frustrating.…
Really Relaxing Break.. Hotel staff are amazing friendly and incredibly helpful. Hotel is very quirky may be dated in areas but that adds to the uniqueness of this hotel. Arrived late plane was delayed greeted at reception with a smile and friendly helpful, funny receptionist. Made to feel welcome and at ease straightaway. Shown quickly around and taken for a cold meal which was waiting for us, as we arrived so late. Room first impression was a set out of starwars so different but actually love it. Room very clean and cleaned everyday done to perfection cannot fault the cleanliness from the staff. The room was cleaned everyday down to vacuuming, mopping changing towels and bedding. It maybe tired around the edges but so am I 😂. Breakfast lots of choice prepared and presented well. The chef cooking omelettes and bacon was outstanding and so polite thank you. Evening meal always cooked well. Enjoyed the salad choice and the fish. meats were cooked beautifully especially the pork scratchings.full compliments to the chef's again. All the waiters were attentive and bilingual. Never had to wait for anything always smiling and welcoming. Great to Breakfast lots of choose prepared and presented well. have the sauna and steam room readily available just 1/2 hours notice needed and then all yours. The garden and pools clean and inviting. It may not be newly built or fully modernized but an absolute gem of a find. This place offers a great opportunity to get away from real life's everyday stresses. Really quiet and relaxing holiday, fully refreshed after this week's getaway. A massive thank you to all the team running this hotel. Would definitely come back and recommend this hotel.…
Although accommodation spacious very tired looking & needs refurbishment. Clean, but sheets not changed yet been here 7 days!!!!! Staff very friendly theme nights not great have stayed in most hotels in this area & this one falls short. Would be good if bar was open at night, can go to other hotels for entertainment but this one ok if you just want quiet evenings. If you want to use the sauna you have to ask 30mins before for it to be switched on.
The suites are great and very spacious. Some updating required but everything worked well. If you get allocated an early slot for dinner, just ask politely to change, we had no problem switching. Food was good, you just need to allow for some creative adaptation of what you may expect as goulash soup or chicken skewers. Staff were great and helped with our request of extras like soy milk etc. If the bar is still closed, as it was when we were there, you are free to visit another nearby hotel and use theirs. We loved the bar at the H10 Esmeralda, just on the right as you face the sea. Overall great value for money, clean, friendly and warm. Now if someone could just do something about that wind . . .
We booked this hotel for the first time last week and were surprised by the spaciousness of the suite and the two outside terraces with a lovely view of the sea. We thoroughly enjoyed our room Breakfast was Ok for self service and fortunately a very cheerly lady cooked eggs to your liking. But the rest of the restaurant was well below standard. When we arrived we were told we were on the first sitting for dinner which was 18.45 to 20.00hrs. thus only allowing 1 hour 15 minutes for dinner. At 20.0hrs the second sitting arrived, There was no lingering over dinner, enjoying another bottle of wine. We felt continually rushed. Unfortunately after the first 3 days when the weather was wonderful storms set in and the temperature dropped and the majority of the seating was outside in an open ended terrace and it was freezing. . As several night are self service, the food was cold and most unappetizing. The same happened on the three themed evening meals. Fortunately there is a cafe/bar just outside the hotel grounds which served good wine and HOT food. We did feel cheated as we paid for full board, and had to eat elsewhere. The food definitely let the hotel down. As your other reviewers mention the bar was closed and there is nowhere to have lunch within the hotel grounds .…
Much need 10 day break in the sunshine ,first visit to Costa Calma and found this gem of a hotel .The hotel has 50 or so suites of a modern design Lounge Bedroom bathroom with private outside space .Outdoor pools (with lifeguard) .Check-in was simple and the staff most helpful .food excellent part buffet part table service and in the entire 10 days no chips!. Waiters were friendly spoke excellent English/German/Spanish .Although the hotel was only about 20% occupied all services were available and Covid protocols were strictly followed (gloves for buffet etc)One of the best Hotels we have stayed in
Cheeky winter break. Nice clean spacious detached pods with a lounge, bedroom and bathroom with an impressive jacuzzi bath. The food is excellent. We have just had our 4th meal and not a chip in sight! The outdoor pool is not heated so no one is using it which is a shame. Plenty of sunbeds and towels. My only criticism of the hotel is that the bar is not open for after dinner drinks. With the number of guests here it should be. Options for drinks in the evening are very limited in town so it would be nice to have somewhere to go after dinner. The town has clearly been hit by the pandemic and if our hotel food had been poor I would be concerned about where we would eat. No obvious restaurants as such, some pizza, burger bars but nothing that would take our fancy.
The rooms are clean spacious & well looked after breakfast is the best anywhere !! crepes, fluffy scrambled eggs etc but a swimming pool with no bar !! no refreshments in the complex anywhere after bkfst?? a gymn and spa are available When we were there it was 90% German occupancy and i prefer a mix of nations my key complaint was vs the reception staff who are totally reactive and rather brusque and don't volunteer info some of which was key!! Unless given proper advice where to go most of the nearby beaches are dominated by elderly "large" german naturists I might need counselling !! this is not xenophobia ! if they had been British then just as awful The Brits favour the north part and Germany dominates the south to the point where most staff are German it didn't feel Spanish in Costa Calma Some obviously good aspects eg value but would not return…
The hotel is on the edge of Costa Calma and well located for long walks along the beach or you could choose your favourite one. The staff are very good and so nice to have breakfast and dinner without the chaos of the large scale buffet found in the larger hotels. A quiet location and very few people in the bar in the evening but that was fine for us and assume it depends on whether anyone is visiting with friends. The food is well balanced good quality and a nice variety. We were still looking forward to dinner after 8 nights. It was only half full but deserves to be better occupied. Mainly Germans during our visit.
We were enjoying a lovely stay at this hotel when Spain went into ‘lockdown’ due to Corona Virus. The accommodation is separate low level suites ,including a personal courtyard with sun beds, set in attractive grounds with 2 swimming pools, a Spa, tennis court and a children’s playground. The main building has two restaurants, bar and reception. Beaches and a lovely bar plus a third restaurant just outside, were within walking distance. On 15/3 we received a letter advising us of the ‘lockdown’; the management advised us to get a flight home as soon as possible, that the ‘public’ areas of the hotel were out of bounds which was Spanish government policy. .We were all to stay in our suite but could go to the restaurant for meals. Having a living room with sofa and the courtyard made it more comfortable than if we had just a room. The food was delicious with a good selection and the staff were unfailingly helpful and courteous, even after ‘lockdown’. We were never made to feel unwelcome at the hotel; they stayed open until the last guests departed. At the airport, we heard many accounts of hotels in Fuerteventura unceremoniously closing , telling guests to leave , even though they did not yet have a return flight. We want to return to enjoy the facilities at this hotel without the restrictions which we have all been subjected to worldwide.…
