Returned for yet another stay and as always the hotel and its staff do not disappoint. The accommodation is exceptionally spacious with each suite having a living room , large bedroom, dressing room and a big bathroom with a jacuzzi bath. The location is quiet and peaceful - just what you want to relax when away. Highly recommend!
Looking at some of the negative comments from some people, it certainly wasn't the place we stayed! Absolutely stunning complex with the most unusual and well equipped pods. Everything you needed was there. from reception to every single member of staff, they were so accommodating and friendly. The grounds were pristine as was every part of the complex. Food was amazing and something to suit every pallet. Only slight gripe is that there wasn't a regularly manned bar for a drink before and after dinner, I think like the rest of the world, staffing some places in hospitality is difficult. We will definitely return!
If you like a comfortable bed, privacy, beautiful surroundings, wonderful food, a quiet, calm relaxing environment, clean accommodation, and kind, helpful staff plus fabulous sandy beaches, then come and stay here. We’ve been twice and loved every minute of it. My only comment is that some of the gym equipment is not good or safe.
What a stunning place! We have just spent a week sun bathing in our own private courtyard with sun loungers enjoying the privacy and tranquility of the area. The pods had everything that we needed. Complimentary toiletries in a bathroom with a fantastic whirlpool bath. Toweling dressing gowns were also provided. Maybe the pods could do with a bit of a touch up as occasionally you could smell a whiff of the drains. The shower in the bathroom wasn't very good but we manged by using the shower on the bath. There were 2 double beds in the bedroom which had a comfortable mattress topper on so we both slept very well. The living room had kettle, microwave, coffee machine and a fridge. (Although the fridge didn't seem to keep items very cold) something we were a bit perplexed about the fact that a bottle of water was provided but if we used it they would charge €2. These are in the shops at 70 cents. With the cost of the hotel, would it hurt for this to be complimentary too? The complex itself was stunning with so many varieties of palms and cacti in the gardens which were very well maintained. The housekeeping staff were always cheerful and cleaned the rooms thoroughly. We put a do not disturb sign out a couple of days as we felt the rooms didn't need doing daily. The waiters in the restaurant were very friendly and helpful despite sometimes being a language barrier. The young Hungarian waiter was always friendly and always asked how we were (sorry I didn't get his name) The food itself was limited when it wasn't a buffet day. With me being a fussy eater I found the lack of choices difficult. They did themed buffets which were great as more choice for myself...Spanish/Canadian, Italian and grill evening. There was a good variety for breakfast with bacon, eggs, pancakes etc freshly cooked on request. We went half board, had to pay for evening drinks but that was done before we checked out. We didn't use the pool or the spa but from what we saw, the pool area wasn't busy at all, with no lounger hogging with towels, which were provided. Pool closed quite early really when the weather was still nice 4.30. 15 minute walk to beach and to Spar. 20 minutes to main restaurants and shops, although 2 souvenir shops opposite each other were very pushy in their selling! There was a restaurant we used just outside the hotel a couple of times. Food was lovely and service great. Overall we had a lovely, relaxing week. The hotel only due to the actual rooms would be a 3 star but with the facilities, food and stunning grounds maybe that's why it is 4 stars.…
This was a really interesting hotel with great gardens, excellent food and service and close to the beach. We never used the beach because each (I will call them 'pods')... each living pod is self contained with three rooms - a bathroom with jacuzzi, huge bedroom and living room, including two TVs and best of all each pod has its own completely private courtyard area for sunbathing. The hotel does not make enough fuss about this in its marketing. Usually a room patio or balcony is overlooked by some other room in other hotels but it was impossible to see into the courtyards of each pod, which was cleverly designed by an architect in the late 1980's. I think I counted 51 pods so it is not a big hotel and it was never busy, especially with their two eating times for the evening meal. This experience for us was the nearest to having our own little finca, with meals laid on. I would not say that this hotel would suit large families because the serenity of the place is so attractive and could get disturbed. I think also that children would get bored. I read three books in one week, got the best all over tan ever, and ate too much of their delicious food. Best of all, no chips!! We really looked forward to their barbecue night on the Friday, their Spanish night on Wednesday, Italian night on Monday and set meals (meat, fish or veggie) on the other nights. The service was second to none. We turned up late on arrival and a cold plate was awaiting us. We have never had such thoughtfulness before. All the waiters were just lovely. The chamber maids cleaned our rooms every day which was really over the top but it explained why everything was so clean. Our booking was through Secret Escapes who always pick out of the ordinary holidays, otherwise we would never have found this gem.…
The room are very different, reminded me of Cesar Manrique's house in Lanzarote, which is a big plus. Air conditioning is in bedroom only, but really effective. Pool and hotel in general were very quiet and tidy. However, it's all a bit battered and could do with some care, there was a general sense of damp in the bathroom due to lack of ventilation. We liked the individual seating areas outside the room, but couldn't sit there for long as there was a distinct whiff of drains on both days we were there. It's about a ten minute walk into town, where there is a very hectic set of restaurants based around a small shopping centre. I'm glad we tried it as an alternative to the giant resort hotels, but unfortunately we won't be back.
Stayed here on a family holiday and I must say really enjoy it here. The apartments are so private, you have your own little courtyard to sunbath if you wish to do so, was a lovely bonus. Another bonus… it seemed to be quiet round the pool most of the time so there wasn’t any running to put towels down on sun-beds at stupid o’clock! 🙄 which I cannot stand…so very happy with that. The garden areas and general place are super tidy & maintained to a very high standard. Rooms are cleaned very well, was spotless when we arrived ..& the maid does pop in if you require to pop clean towels in, mop floors etc. The rooms are aren’t massive but definitely enough for what u need, was a bonus to have a tv in both the living room area & bedroom area. We also could see the sea from our apartment which was so nice. The living area has a fridge, microwave, glasses cutlery, kettle, coffee machine so well equipped to make a bit of lunch to save money as we did. Bathroom was very clean & we loved the jacuzzi! Also bathrobes are in the rooms which went down well with the kids to sit in after showering. Wardrobes are very spacey to, plenty of space to hang + shelves. Breakfast was really delicious, lots of fresh pastries, fruit, breads, meats, yoghurts etc but loved the fresh bacon, eggs & pancakes that are cooked & served fresh as you watch the girls cook them. The restaurant that is located just outside of the Risco was nice, had a lovely prawn spaghetti dish on our first night as we arrived late & a delicious steak on our last night & the profiteroles were yum! Overall really loved this place & it’s definitely a place we would think of re-visiting again. Thanks Risco Del Gato 🐈⬛…
There is much to enjoy about this hotel. First, the positives : the rooms are absolutely lovely, each with its own small sitting room with sofa and chairs and fridge, large spacious bedroom with two huge beds and air-conditioning and a lovely spacious bathroom with jacuzzi bath and separate shower and double sinks. Each room has its own private courtyard with loungers, and a small table, chairs and umbrella outside the front of the (detached) rooms which look out over the gardens, and in our case. the sea. The rooms were immaculate and spotlessly clean with very good cleaning service every day. We stayed on a half board basis - they do not serve lunch. The restaurant staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Their service was extremely good. A few nights a week they serve a buffet supper, the other nights it's an a la carte menu (meat, fish and vegetarian options). The breakfasts were very very good and catered for all tastes : fresh tropical fruits, meats and cheeses, pastries, cereal and yoghurt, hot food and cooked-to-order bacon, eggs and crepes. Dinners were less successful; buffet dinners were, in my opinion, much better than the a la carte which we both found pedestrian and not particularly refined. Some dishes were good and the fish was well cooked (not overdone), however some things arrived which were unidentifiable. The puddings were not good; on one evening the chef was happy to serve a split custard to guests when it really should not have left the kitchen. Other puddings were dry cake-like things with bright green or pink food colouring. A tiramisu was nothing like a tiramisu in any form I've ever seen or tasted. For a balanced opinion, my husband preferred the a la carte to the buffet; the buffet was good as you could see what you were getting. Wine list ok, not brilliant, but also not expensive. The pools were lovely and clean and well maintained, as were the grounds. We really enjoyed that element of our stay. Drawbacks are fairly significant. There is NO bar, food or drink service in the hotel during the day, from after breakfast until 6pm when dinner is served (you can choose a later dinner time). The hotel advertises a bar which is woefully misleading, as there isn't one. This means you cannot get so much as a bottle of water or a coke during the day - quite frustrating in 29 degree heat, and also very odd. No snacks available. Deeply irritating was the fact that they advertise bar facilities which are not available. They also advertise room service and even have a room service menu in each room - but there is no room service. This is pretty unacceptable. Lack of information is therefore a problem. We discovered quite by chance a small restaurant and bar just oustide the hotel which opened at 12 noon and we bought drinks and snacks from them to take to the pool. Later we discovered that there was actually a gate from the hotel directly to the restaurant, however we were not told of this. The restaurant is not affiliated with the hotel, which means you cannot charge food and drink to your room and pay in one go. We found the external restaurant very delicious with excellent seafood and great cocktails. The hotel is in a quiet resort and this should be noted by anyone who wishes for nightlife and a party environment. There is a small village with a Spar and a few restaurants; most ameneties available. The hotel is close to the beach (not directly on the beach - about 5 mins walk) and the beaches are wide and sandy, very clean. A good variety of beach bars serving great food. Rockpools and paddling for kids and more than enough space on the beaches not to be crowded; loungers and umbrellas available. Windsurfing etc is available, but probably on in season. We loved our holiday as we were specifically looking to rest, unwind, swim and sunbathe, and it was perfect for this. We enjoyed the hotel and the rooms in particular were very very good value and well equipped. We made much use of the little fridge and bought our own drinks (although it would have been good to know about lack of drinks etc during the day on our arrival). All in all good staff, good quiet location, very clean, generous rooms, great pool and mediocre food with no room or bar service which was frustrating.…
Really Relaxing Break.. Hotel staff are amazing friendly and incredibly helpful. Hotel is very quirky may be dated in areas but that adds to the uniqueness of this hotel. Arrived late plane was delayed greeted at reception with a smile and friendly helpful, funny receptionist. Made to feel welcome and at ease straightaway. Shown quickly around and taken for a cold meal which was waiting for us, as we arrived so late. Room first impression was a set out of starwars so different but actually love it. Room very clean and cleaned everyday done to perfection cannot fault the cleanliness from the staff. The room was cleaned everyday down to vacuuming, mopping changing towels and bedding. It maybe tired around the edges but so am I 😂. Breakfast lots of choice prepared and presented well. The chef cooking omelettes and bacon was outstanding and so polite thank you. Evening meal always cooked well. Enjoyed the salad choice and the fish. meats were cooked beautifully especially the pork scratchings.full compliments to the chef's again. All the waiters were attentive and bilingual. Never had to wait for anything always smiling and welcoming. Great to Breakfast lots of choose prepared and presented well. have the sauna and steam room readily available just 1/2 hours notice needed and then all yours. The garden and pools clean and inviting. It may not be newly built or fully modernized but an absolute gem of a find. This place offers a great opportunity to get away from real life's everyday stresses. Really quiet and relaxing holiday, fully refreshed after this week's getaway. A massive thank you to all the team running this hotel. Would definitely come back and recommend this hotel.…
Although accommodation spacious very tired looking & needs refurbishment. Clean, but sheets not changed yet been here 7 days!!!!! Staff very friendly theme nights not great have stayed in most hotels in this area & this one falls short. Would be good if bar was open at night, can go to other hotels for entertainment but this one ok if you just want quiet evenings. If you want to use the sauna you have to ask 30mins before for it to be switched on.
