Galeon Playa By SeaSense is a hit with many travelers for its immaculate rooms and pristine common areas, though some guests have encountered sporadic cleaning lapses. The hotel's pools and family-oriented amenities are a highlight, just steps away from local beaches, although lack of air conditioning has been noted. Staff members receive accolades for their warmth and efficiency, contributing to the hotel's inviting atmosphere, albeit some feel a refresh in decor is due. While rooms are generally spacious, they can suffer from datedness and occasional cleanliness oversights. The hotel's location is widely celebrated for its convenience to nearby attractions, solidifying its reputation as a value-laden stay despite some additional fees.

This is our second stay at this hotel as a famiy of 4 and this year was even better than last. It is is the best location, right next to the lovely Playa Jabillo beach witha lovely coastal walk into the resort. It is also right next to some lovely bars and cafes.

We were given a gorgeous, newly refurbished 2-bed apartment with a lovely sea view on two sides. The apartment was spotlessly clean and was cleaned regularly, it had all the facilities you need for self catering.

The pool area is lovely, always sunloungers available, lifeguard on duty, lovely pool bar. The pool is a little cold but you soon get used to it, I imagine its lovely in the summer.

The staff here are fantastic, so helpful on reception. Our little girl was unfortunatly sick during our stay and the lady on reception was so understanding, sent cleaners up straight away and made all the beds up fresh.

Last but not least is the kids club staff, David the leader is worth his weight in gold! Our kids absolutely loved him and couldnt wait to get to kids club and the mini disco because he was just so fantastic, and very hard working!

In short another fantastic holiday at the Galeon Playa and we cant wait to return next February.

We stayed here with our toddler and 6 Yr old for a week in one of their upgraded 2 bedroom family 'pirate' apartments in block 6 room 115 on the ground floor overlooking the pool. (definitely recommend this room)

My parents stayed in an upgraded 1 bedroom appartment on the 1st floor.

Both appartments were spotless and lovely. Our appartment was huge. Two good sized bedrooms with a REAL cot rather than a travel cot for our toddler, a massive bathroom (with hair drier) and large living area with a small kitchenette area in the corner and a big balcony area where the kids could play.

The Pirate apartments have toys which made life much easier.

The kitchen area would allow basic meals to be prepared but we stayed half board. The food was OK, a bit cafeteria style but a good selection for both breakfast and dinner which is good when you have kids, although we would have preferred to eat out a bit if we were on our own as there are loads of restaurants very near by.
There is also shop right outside the front door for milk and essential bits and bigger shops very near by.

The hotel had 3 theme nights when we were there, American, Chinese and Spanish.

Pablo, one of the chefs was lovely and took my mum who was a coeliac under his wing (literally) every meal time to tell her what she could eat and bought her out special bits and bobs.

All the staff were very helpful and friendly and amazing with the kids.

Although we didn't join in many there were activities on all the time. We joined a game of water polo in the pool which was great fun!

Only bad points
As it's a very family friendly hotel it was strange there was no where external to put dirty nappies. They would send the maid to collect them when ever you wanted but a bit awkward.

There was a bit of a drainy smell around our block, but this was similar of a lot of places on the island so not sure we can blame the hotel for this but still unplesant.

There was no a/c. OK this time of year as it was cooler at night and quite a breeze but can imagine in the height of summer it could get unbearable.

Useful things to know:

The hotel hires buggies.. We'd arranged to hire else where before hand but hotel would have been cheaper.

Get the full insurance if you hire a car, although it's easy driving around lanzarote both my parents and our cars were hit whilst parked in near by car parks.

We arrived 17th December-- easy, quick, friendly check in and were given a standard room with a large balcony overlooking the small pool with 2 sun loungers on it . The room was fine but slightly dated with a dark bathroom due to the heavy shower curtain and very slippy once in use. The mattresses in the beds were new but not the most comfortable. The kitchenette was good and big enough for use and the whole room was clean. Upon request, we were given a key to look at a refurbished room for the extra charge of 20 euro per night and decided to upgrade for the brighter room, walk in shower, slightly better mattresses and just generally more modern. The reception staff did ask if there were issues in the room we had and offered to investigate so we didn't have to upgrade but we were happy to pay the extra to move. Pool was lovely, more than enough loungers and sun all day, all staff were excellent and location is brilliant. Would stay again

We are currently on a 10 night break to the galeon playa hotel Costa Teguise. Short transfer from the airport (we used the hotel transfer service which was good value 15 euro one way for two, although it is a shared mini van) we asked for a refurbished, high level quiet room and the apartment we have been given is perfect, we are over the moon and would return specifying a request for a similar room in block 6. Very clean and helpful friendly staff. We have used the hotel for their Spanish night evening meal and the sea food paella was fantastic. We are self catering otherwise and the facilities are compact but there seems to be everything you need except washing up liquid and sponge. Shops, restaurants, bars and beach all within walking distance. I would highly recommend this hotel. No air con or heating noted in this apartment which could be difficult/hot in the height of summer.

Been coming here for the last 10 years & hopefully many more to come. Hotel was quiet due to the ongoing situation, but all staff worked tirelessly to ensure cleanliness, sun loungers sanitised as guests left them. Staff seemed genuinely pleased to see regular guests returning. Stopped in block 4 in one of the suites, these are lovely rooms & breakfast was included. Had one little problem with room which was resolved quickly. Can’t wait to return in 10 weeks time to spend Christmas in our 2nd home!

If you are able to travel, take advantage of the cheap flights currently & stop at the Galeon!

Stayed for a week just before Covid 19 really took hold. Was delighted to be given an updated refurbished suite with a spare bedroom (always useful to store stuff and in this case boil a kettle!). Loved the modern touches like a USB charger and modern shower and nice to find a bottle of water waiting for us. However we had to boil the kettle in the spare room as there was no convenient plug point and I have no idea why there was a microwave in a suite for those on half board if there is going to be no cutlery or bowls provided 9which would have been appreciated). The balcony was spacious with a sunbed included.

Now for the areas for improvement. Although the breakfast was fine (if a little boring after a week) we only ate on the first night of our half board stay as the evening meal offer was really underwhelming, especially for a vegetarian. We chose to eat out every other night (which in fairness we had planned to).

Our main issue was the music at the pool. Although there was no issue over sunbeds (other than people putting towels on them and just turning up much later, despite signs saying this would not be tolerated) the music was so loud at times that it was impossible to listen to a podcast on your own device. The music was also not to my taste, although that's over a personal thing.

The hotel entrance can be a little hard to find if you are driving from the airport so make sure you know where it is before you park for the first time. it can also be a little hard to park at times and on one occasion I was parked more than 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

Loads of decent places to eat but I would recommend Aqui Y Ahora next door for lunch, especially for veggie/vegans. Bar Vali and Iguana are both convenient for a drink but our favourite was Magma in the main square, which is only a few minutes walk away.

I think the hotel is really missing a trick not offering an early evening happy hour. they seem to have one in the middle of the day but we like to have a beer in our hotel before we go and get something to eat and I think this would be popular at this hotel ( I believe at some point between 5 and 7 p.m. would prove popular)

We would not go back partly because of the music at the pool but more because we would like to try another resort in Lanzarote next time. Generally speaking though the hotel is modern and friendly and very close to a decent beach and the main centre. It is quite family orientated but we found it fine for a couple in their 50s.

Our second stay at the Galeon. We had been impressed on our first visit so it was an easy decision to return with our 9 year old granddaughter. The Galeon is entered through the pleasant reception which immediately opens onto the main pool area. The layout is stylish and private consisting of a large pool, plenty sunbeds and a snack bar. A second smaller pool area is located to the rear of the complex and caters more for younger children and includes a kiddies play area. We didnt use the restaurant as we were self catering. The large activity room includes pool tables, air hockey and bar football and also a squash court. The onsite bar hosted regular entertainment to suit all ages. The Halloween night show was especially good and the staff excelled in getting the kids involved. Our spacious one bedroom apartment overlooked the smaller pool area. The kitchenette provided ample utensils including a toaster, kettle and microwave. There a locally payable safe in the wardrobe. The apartment was clean with maid service several times during the week. One of the main reasons we returned to Galeon is its location. Just a 10 minute stroll into the main square and the main beach with plenty shops, bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Theres a smaller beach just 2 minutes walk away and also a well stocked supermarket just across the road from the apartments. Summing up..The Galeon is a well run, modest, clean, friendly place to stay and our granddaughter loved it..a third visit?.. definitely.

Nice entrance, friendly fast check in after late flight 10.30 arrival.

Stayed in studio (153) booked with jet2 holidays, we booked a cheap week away and got exactly what we expected, a basic studio that was spacious and clean!

Ground floor with patio area outside and had a view of the smaller pool and kids play area, no kids at the time so noise wasn’t an issue, old building so noise in the room/corridors expected.

Great stay, no complaints at all.
Room cleaned every 2/3 days with new towels and toiletries.

We never used the pool however we did experience watching the sunbed wars, we preferred to pay €4 each for a beach lounger - the clientele you expect in a 3 star self catering is exactly the people you see who sit round the pool fighting over beds, it’s a laugh!

Wouldn’t necessarily return in a hurry but wouldn’t rule it out if we wanted another cheap break!

Great location in the middle of both beaches, close to shops bars and restaurants plenty of choice,

I hope you get good weather!!! :)

Last day here after a week in Feb.
Good points:
Its in a great location, within close walk of beaches, the promenade and centre. Theres lots of shops and restaurants near by as well as a supermarket opposite the front door.
Decent size pool with bar and snack bar during the day.
The breakfast is fine with a decent selection of cooked and continental options, decent coffee and juice.
Most of the rooms have been refurbished in a more contemporary style although some still havent.
Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool with table and chairs and two sun loungers which was a nice touch however we lost the sun by mid afternoon.

Bad points and areas for improvement:

We stayed in a suite with a view of the pool on groundfloor. The decor was modern although already showing signs of wear and tear especially the bathroom. The shower tray had signs of mould and discoloration but the screen was leaking so every time you got a shower the bathroom floor gets flooded. Then have to use towels to soak up. This could easily be improved by giving the shower a proper clean and sealing the shower screen joint with some sealant.
We had no rubbish bin in the room so ended up
Having to buy some plastic bags from supermarket to put drinks cans, bottles in etc.

The room only has a small minibar type fridge, not big enough to put more than a few things in.

The only English TV channel is Sky News international. Surely it wouldnt be too difficult to provide more English TV?

The cleaning is done every two days, however they dont replace cups or glasses or clean them so after a day you are left with dirty pots and no washing facilities. The room isnt designed for self catering, therefore the dirty cups and glasses should be replaced. They also never replenished the coffee, tea or milk so I ended up having to raid maids trolleys in order to get replenish supplies(even toilet roll).
I asked at reception what we were supposed to do about getting clean cups, glasses and tea/coffee and she just shrugged but said she would send someone but nobody ever turned up.
Also the plastic bag we had to use for rubbish wasnt even emptied so we had to take it out outselves.
Management should make their minds up whether the suites are self catering(which they cant be as there are no kitchens) or a hotel in which case provide bins, take out rubbish and restock drinks, cups and glasses.

The snack bar never seemed to have anything on the menu available apart from the odd item. It also had random opening hours.

This place is in a great central location and good for self catering however needs to address some issues for people who arent self catering. Also some minor maintenance issues could easily be rectifies but they need to keep ontop of them.

We booked superior apartments, the apartments look nothing like the pictures displayed on jet2 and on their own website. We were expecting a walk in shower, instead we had a bath with shower over.
The first 4 days of our holiday there wasn’t enough hot water for our family of three to take a shower. This was eventually solved. The shower attached to the wall was insecure and sprayed water all over the bathroom.
Rooms are only cleaned every other day
There is a major issue with the lack of sunbeds at this hotel. There are only 100 sunbeds for over 300 guests. On our last day we put our towels on some beds and popped out for breakfast, on our return our towels had been moved. Unknown to us that if you leave your towels for longer than 30mins they are removed, we weren’t aware that we were doing anything wrong by popping out for breakfast. When we were collecting our towels a young girl around the pool decided she would get herself involved and cause an unnecessary big fuss. She spoke to me incredibly rudely and swore at me. I Spoke to the hotel receptionist who basically would do nothing about it. Other than to come over and speak to her with me. This hotel tolerates anti social behaviour and did not support me when I requested that something be done about the girl who had sworn at me completely unprovoked. Completely ruined our last day of our holiday.
We would not stay here again neither could we recommend this place to anyone else.

As far as I am aware there is no air conditioning in ANY of the apartments. I did not find it an issue when I stayed there in March / April 2024. I was able to leave the balcony door open a little and that was good enough for me. Air Con is unhealthy anyway!!
