So the hotel is nice. It’s clean, the staff are lovely, I had no problems. But it’s a 45 minute walk into town, or even the nearest restaurant. On the way you will pass a couple of hotels, but the first real restaurant is 2 1/2 miles away. I had to take this hotel as a last minute booking as my Thomas cook holiday to somewhere else got cancelled. I didn’t really spend too much time at the hotel, I was out every evening and only stayed 2 or 3 days at the pool, so I didn’t really use the hotel too much. So it did what I needed it to do, but if you want to spend more time at the hotel then you’re quite limited on what you can do. It’s either sunbathe or drink at the bar. Breakfast was included, but I didn’t eat there. It looked okay, a mix of hot and cold. If you want dinner then you need to book it the day before and the menu has around 3 options on it. Unless you are hiring a car or willing to walk 5 1/2 mile round trip to eat, then you may want to look at a closer hotel to town.

We spent a week at Hotel Kalimera Mare Aug 2019 with our 2 kids age 8 & 10. It couldn't have been better - the staff are really genuinely friendly and helpful, greeting us by our name when we arrived, the hotel is spotless, rooms basic but very comfortable with a stunning sea and countryside views, serviced to a high standard every day. The food is excellent, lovely freshly prepared food every meal with a great choice of starters, breakfasts and puddings and a choice of 3 hot main courses & good waiter service. Greek night (Thursdays) was fun with traditional Greek dancers and an outdoors buffet for guests. It's a peaceful hotel, no local noise, no noisy guests (families or couples), really near the beach although it's stoney so bring beach shoes to swim in. Great for snorkelling and watersports. There's a tiny supermarket next door (really only good for drinks, snacks and lilos) but Kardemena's a 4km walk/cycle/bus trip which has supermarkets, restaurants, bars, shops and OK beaches. The hotel pool's nice but we spent the week using next door's pool which guests are allowed to use, much bigger, no-one around, clean and has a friendly and relaxed pool-side bar which does great cocktails, mocktails and light bites. We squeezed in Nisyros volcano via the pirate ship (!), cycling, snorkelling, a trip to Kos town, a day at Aquatic Waterpark - excellent and not too busy, go-karting, inflatable towed by a boat and a windsurf lesson. We'll definitely be back.

We spent in Kalimera hotel our summer holiday, it was an excellent stay. The staff is really lovely, rooms are confortabe, large and clean, food is excellent (breakfast and dinner) including a rich buffet including both continental and local cuisine. The position is central in the island, so that you can rich the most beautiful beaches in less then 45 minutes. It's close to Kardamena, a nice village with lots of shops, pubs and restaurants.
