An amazing first time trip to Greece was brought to you by the well maintained hotel, covid being taken very seriously and masks being worn, and in the Aegeo Spa especially the massage therapist there Frosini, she exemplifies what a great massage therapist should be. She was very helpful during the trip and the spa was always very clean and face masks were always worn by all of the workers which is a plus in my books.
Will be back here again.. see you next summer Kos..

Me and my family have just returned from a holiday at the Akti Palace.

Even though we had a fun holiday.

This is not a 5 star Hotel so if you are thinking on spending your hard earned cash on a 5 star holiday I would suggest you may want to look at some where else.

And here is why.
When we arrived it all looked very nice we where shown to our two rooms as we found it cheaper to book two rooms rather than a Family room , the main Bedrooms where nice but both Bathrooms where on the grotty side especially around the Bath where the sealant was in a mess , things looked like it needed a good clean.
We where there for 10 nights and not once was the Balcony or its furniture cleaned , the main Bedroom was cleaned on a daily basis but not to a very good standard but was ok.
On a plus the towels and bedding where changed regularly and the mini fridge was restocked on a daily basis with Beer , Wine and soft drinks.

The pool area was cleaned daily but once again not really well.

The food that was served was to a good quality but suffered from a lack of choice.

The Three themed Restaurants where very good especially the fish one.

The drinks at the bars where good but most Cocktails came out of a premixed bottle if you asked for some thing different you where told they could not do it.

Another plus was it is right next to the Beach where the water is crystal clear and brilliant for snorkelling.
But the water sports are very expensive but I guess this is not the Hotels fault.

All the staff where great but seemed over worked and not enough of them maybe that is why some of them looked miserable.

Another plus was the SPA it was very well run and I had the best back Massage.

The entertainment on a night was of a good standard and did not go on to long.

If you are taking Teenagers just be aware there is not a lot for them to do maybe a games room would not go a miss.

I know all this sound a bit picky but these little things are what makes a 5 star Hotel this Hotel could be but is not there yet.

We had a nice family holiday but we will not be retuning to this Hotel.

Me and my partnered arrived at this hotel on 12th August and had a 7 night stay.

This our 3rd time in Kardamena now but only our first time in this hotel. It was modern and clean. The bedrooms were a great size and we had a very comfortable double bed.

There were great choices throughout the restaurants and snack bars and had 3/4 nights of great entertainment. On the other nights we decided to go into Kardamena town slightly earlier to enjoy more of the bars out there.

There is a free shuttle bus that runs daily and Taxis into town were 10 euro each way. We waited no longer than 5 minutes for one of these.

We never struggled to get a sun lounger around the pool and they were great quality.

We only laid on the beach once as we are pool people, but found the sun loungers there very comfortable too.

On check out, our flight wasn't until the evening so we were able to put our luggage in a secure room and were even given a room to shower and get ready in before leaving the airport.

Kardamena has a special place in our hearts and we can't wait to come back next year.

We visited for 7 nights in late august, and in some aspects the hotel is great, however there could be some improvements.

Overall, the staff are great and are super helpful, they work long hours but always seem on it and happy to help. It’s also great that you are able to use next doors facilities, I’d recommend taking a stroll round to see if your family would prefer their entertainment/food/activities. It’s a much busier hotel in comparison but I’d say more family friendly. There’s a great free shuttle bus to take you to the local town that runs every hour or so, although it can get rather busy! There’s also a free safe in all rooms which is great compared to other resorts I’ve visited where their safes have come at a cost.

However, on the topic on the rooms, they could do with a bit of a renovation. Some of our furniture had duct tape around it keeping it together and I feel the cleaning could’ve been to a better standard. Our room was cleaned everyday but seemed a very quick job, some days our mini bar didn’t get restocked, bins wouldn’t be emptied and we didn’t get new cups and glasses for several days. We did mention this to reception however, and was always done from there on. Also, you receive plenty of tea bags in your room but there’s no kettle to make a cup of tea.

We were informed that reserving sun beds around the pool was not allowed however every morning people would put their towels down and leave them for hours. During our stay we never saw any staff remove the towels or place notes on them. It became quite annoying that all the “best” beds with umbrellas on the front row would have towels on but no occupiers until late morning. But, there were other beds available throughout the day - if there’s only a couple of you, you’ll get beds no problem. The sun beds are decent but I think adding a little table around them would make a huge difference. A lot of drinks were getting knocked over as they were on the floor. Also, the wifi didn’t reach around the pool. There’s a lifeguard on shift from 10-6 everyday but she never seemed to do any work. She spent all day either chatting to the guys in the towel hut or helping herself to the buffet lunch. Worth noting that if anyone needs help, it would probably be quicker to text her as her heads always in her phone sat away from the pool.

In terms of the food, I found something everyday to eat but it became quite repetitive quite quickly. I found myself eating the same things everyday. I found lunch in the pool bar to be one of the best meals, however I did find a lot of flies landing on the food as there was no covers over it.

Overall, the hotel has a lot of potential, a few small tweaks could make this hotel a really great place to stay. I enjoyed my stay with my family but there were a few bits that let it down slightly and affected the rating.

Dear Terri, Thank you for your leaving us the review. We are sorry, that we did not meet your expectations in all ways. and you were not completely satisfied with your room and the minibar and cleaning. We want to let you know that you can heat water with our coffee facilities in the room, but we also provide a kettle on request. Our reception team would arrange that for you. For the sunbeds: We collect the towels after they are one hour unattended if there is no availability. We thank you for your honest words, and we forwarded your comments to the relevant departments in order to improve our facilities and services. All the best, Sunny regards Management Akti Hotels Kos

Before I right this I have to say we had a great holiday, and the hotel has some great points, as long as you know that Greek 5* is different to our 5*, you’ll be fine.

Firstly, the staff make this hotel, from when we arrived to when we left, everyone really friendly and helpful, especially around the pool bar, special mention to Savvas, Dmitri and Vaso, great people.
We were upgraded on arrival to a pool/sea view, a nice touch, so I’ll start with the rooms. Everyone we spoke to and every review we read all mentioned one thing, the bathroom, and they are all right. The room itself was fine, bed, sofa bed, mini bar etc but the bathroom basically needs ripping out and starting again, floor dirty, grouting around the bath missing, room flooded whenever you took a shower, they’ve tried to make it nice but haven’t “finished it” properly, everyone said the same and the hotel need to take notice.
The grounds were lovely, clean etc, the pool was fine but we mainly used the beach as the beds were more comfortable and the setting was beautiful, one thing about the beach, take some beach shoes as the beach is shingle sand, there are sandbags to walk into the sea but you still need shoes.
Food, the food by the pool bar during the day was great, more than enough for a bite to eat in the day, we used the 3 a la carte restaurants and enjoyed them all, however the main restaurant was disappointing, quite repetitive and lacked flavour and quality.
The free bus to town is a great bonus, gets quite full but that’s to be expected. Also, if you like daytime entertainment you’ll need to go next door as nothing during the day' evening entertainment mainly in pool, singers etc, not west end standard but good fun none the less.

Like I said earlier, this could be a beautiful hotel and the bad points in no way spoiled our holiday, very relaxing stay, however it needs some money spent on it to bring it up to a higher level then it would be a jewel of a hotel.

On arrival late at night reception staff were lovely and a lovely, chatty lad took us to our room, when he opened the door my response was “oh”……it was the smallest room we’ve ever stayed in! About 15 x 12 foot.
The patio door opened inwards and hit the sofa so didn’t open completely and kept blowing shut, we managed to keep it open with a shoe wedged under it. You could sit on the toilet and brush your teeth!
After unpacking we went to get something to eat. The first meal I had was a chicken and mushroom pasta, I almost broke my tooth on a large piece of chicken bone.
Some of the staff are lovely whilst others are very unfriendly, especially the older guy on the pool bar in the evening.
Our cleaner was an older lady and didn’t “clean”, just emptied the bins, restocked fridge and left our bedding folded up on bed. Have never had to make my own bed at an all inclusive hotel before.
Coffee drips on balcony floor were there the whole week and if I had bare feet they would be black after walking through the room.
The Gyros in the pool bar were full of very fatty chicken and my husband had a large piece of bone in his, anyone with children be very careful as this is a dangerous choking hazard.
The weather was perfect with a lovely breeze the entire time and the hotel grounds are beautiful and spotless.
The hotel was fully booked on the day we returned home, we were lucky enough to get a shower room to use but families who had booked it after us were told there was nothing available and would have to pay to shower in Spa or use pool showers.
They charge 50 euros to keep your room for late departure.
Kos is a lovely island with some great places to visit, we hired a car for 2 days and covered most of the island.
The pool is lovely, spotlessly clean and peaceful, never a problem getting a sun bed.
The beach is fine shingle but getting into the sea is a challenge as it has large, slippy rocks. There are strips of sandbags at intervals to walk on but some were split and flat so care is needed. Lovely clear water once you do manage to get in but definitely not for young children or elderly/infirm people.
Entertainment was very good, usually singers every night.
I would recommend Akti Palace if you want a quiet, relaxed holiday but like most places, it isn’t perfect.

We spent 10 days at the resort, we had two rooms; a family room for 4 & a double for grandparents.
I would agree with other reviews that this is not a five star resort. The rooms require upgrade and are tired, with stained and cracked furniture. The room cleaning wasn’t the best and unfortunately we had issues with the air conditioning twice. The second time we were told by the maintenance operative that attended that he couldn’t do anything, he told us to speak to reception so we did, after which two maintenance people attended (including the first guy), finally they resolved the issue.
Our party of six became very tired of the meal choices in the restaurant, they were very repetitive. Even when visiting the beach hotel next door, we found they had similar foods. We did manage to get a booking at the Asian restaurant which was very enjoyable (and a welcome change). The resort would benefit from themed food nights!
The free bus to kardemena was very good, we also used the water sports on the beach. Make sure you take water shoes they are a must for the rocky beach!
We also struggled with the request to discard used toilet paper in a bin, rather than flushing down the toilet.

Overall a great holiday – not quite the 5* as advertised but trying.

For brevity I will simply list the pro’s and Con’s.

Pro’s
Stavos and Maria at the pool bar – Superstars well done and thanks!
Vaso and George in the main bar – Keep up the good work (even when you are under pressure!)
George – “The Night man” super friendly and helpful.
Guest services / PR – Anja, some of the best and speediest replies to emails that I have ever had from a hotel!
Rooms were modern, contemporary and reasonably well appointed.
Pool snack bar…. Who would have thought that Thyme on chips works so well?
Location worked well for us, a nice stroll into town or use the shuttle bus.

Con’s
Restaurant / food – bland and repetitive but of good overall quality. Always something to eat.
Restaurant ambiance was more of a canteen that hotel. In fact next door at the sister hotel was nicer in décor but the food was not as good (3* v 5*)
No show cooking? You can not call making an omelette in the morning show cooking. Nothing else all week.
Al a carte – not exactly “off the menu”, just a fixed menu and you got it all…. Asian was tasty though – well done Chef!
Pool sunbeds are the most uncomfortable beds in history…why no cushions? Beach was better but very few available and not policed very well with next doors guests using them when then should not have been.
Hardly any entertainment had some on 2/7 of the nights in the pool bar area but the seats are too uncomfortable to be sitting there for long. (They work in the daytime I guess with people with wet swimwear etc. but not in the evening).
The minibar in the room was not replenished very often – ended up having to do it myself.
The bed sheets do not fit the bed so do not tuck in – always rumpled up under you, particularly due to the “hard mattress protector). Bed never made well during whole stay.
The arrangement of the shower head in the middle of the bath meant that the screen could not contain the water and it ended up all over the floor making a slip hazard.
It appears that most of the hotel has recently been “spray painted” (Fresh paint smell in some locations). Also all of the floors around the hotel are paint splattered – maybe the decorators needed some feedback on the use of ground sheets?
No “No smoking” areas. Even in the bars and restaurant areas if you are a non smoker not a great place to eat and drink.
Imported drinks in the bar ran out after day 4, so then it was back to local (cheap) drinks only?
Overall staffing levels like a lot of hotels I am sure at the moment did not increase quickly enough to reflect the increase in guests. Service dropped off dramatically and quickly

I know that this list looks a little one sided but I am hoping that it can be used for development and improvement.

In summary, nice hotel, Great people, perhaps a bit more to deliver on the 5 stars rating.

Arrived very late check-in was swift with polite staff the buffet was still open so we went in and had a drink and something to eat. George was very welcoming and friendly he showed us to our room carrying the cases.
Our room was modern and the bed was very comfy the room was very clean and cleaned daily by hard working polite staff. Mini bar was topped up daily and was free.
Room are all set in lovely clean and well kept grounds. Saw the gardeners daily.

Breakfast was a good selection to choose from to suit all tastes polite staff always welcoming.

Plenty of clean sunbeds around the pool area and towels available from the little hut.

The pool was flipping freezing though even the children's shallow pool was like ice. We didn't really see many people brave the pools during the week in fact more people were in the sea.

The pool bar snack area where you could get snacks was a little premature at putting out food for lunch time so it was often dry and hard. Which was a shame, the pizza oven was not being used during our stay I guess it's out of main season.
The pool bar was a pleasure to use coffee soft drink ice cream and of course alcohol. The young girl worked really hard and again was always polite and welcoming.

The beach area just out the back of the hotel. Beach shoes would be good to pack to access the water as it's very stoney there are sandbags to help you get in the water but they could do with being a little more up on the beach and not missing sections.

Come out the the back of the hotel and a good 40 min walk along the paved path takes you to Kardamena town with shops bars restaurants.

Not a lot else around the hotel, however there is a free shuttle bus service to Kardamena town which is excellent.

We didn't go to any evening entertainment at the hotel.

In general the hotel is very good for a quiet holiday. The food is typical of an all inclusive but we always found something to eat.

The bar area and reception are very sparce of decore almost clinical looking just needs a little more Greek character that said it's very clean.

We would return.

We came for a week and our room was ‘cleaned’ twice, our shower barely worked and our safe broke twice. We made a complaint to reception and they sent someone out to fix the shower, the safe, and the cleaners to come out to clean it but the next day and the room hadn’t been cleaned like they said it would be.

The staff are friendly, The food is okay but it just gets very repetitive and dry as it’s left out all day.

The only entertainment/ Music you get is at 9PM-10:30/11PM unless you go to the sister hotel next door.

The pool is a decent size but there isn’t anything for you to get involved in.

We struggled to get sun beds most days as people reserved them which is not the hotels fault but there’s a poster saying ‘ Do not reserve sun beds, hotel staff have the rights to take any personal belongings’ yet they just leave a note and don’t actually do anything.

The hotel do offer a free shuttle bus throughout the day to go to Kardamena but it was just a shame that the only time we enjoyed ourselves is when we went out and paid for things.

Personally for us it was not worth the money, the staff are lovely but that’s about it.

Dear Sarah, Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are sorry that you were disappointed with our food and service of the cleaning staff. Thank you for pointing out the friendliness of our staff. Our hotel does not offer any daily animation and the majority of our guests likes the quiet surroundings. You always can join the animation program of Akti Beach Club and also benefit from all the facilities in our sister hotel. Our staff from the towel point collects the towels from sunbeds, when unattended and always assists, if you cannot find sunbeds at the pool and beach. We noted all your comments and we will take them under consideration. Best regards Management Akti Hotels Kos
