Staying at this hotel has been the best experience although turning quiet due to end of season the hotel has still offered us the best service.
The rooms look to have been recently refurbished and offer everything you need, beds are so comfy, rooms cleaned daily with fresh towels and even a special touch with robes/slippers on arrival, there is complimentary shower gel/shampoo/soap/ hairdryer and they offer free air conditioning and a safe. Only thing missing is long mirror that maybe could be put in the bedroom as only one in bathroom.
We are staying all-inclusive and the food is different everyday with with variety of dishes to choose from everything is fresh and tasty, the desserts are incerible.
Staff are friendly and work really hard, from the porter who helped with cases to room, helping with wheelchair as partner has disability to the restaurant staff who attend to every need (currently have to wear gloves/mask due to covid but only.in restaurant) John the barman on an evening is a pleasure to talk to and he has made our stay special do big thanks to him, the lady who works the pool bar needs a medal 🏅 having to share her day with the flys/wasps loving the sugar from the drinks lol.
We we're moved to this hotel a week prior to arriving and I have to say thanks because it was definitely the right choice and we will be returning

Well never been so Happy to get home ever this hotel is not a 4 star .The food was so poor for a all exclusive it was cold and very little ov some flys landing on it and we ate out most nights like everyone else. The pool bar just done chips few cold sandwiches and toasties the chips are better than the restaurant, the drinks are very few with beer served in very little cup and very weak . The girl behind the pool bar worked hard in the heat with no fan . The rooms were small no wardrobes just a little space to hang a few clothes on hangers and the sink was outside the bathroom behind front door . You have to be out the room by 11 and you can use the so called rest room which is only two showers with no lock on door . There is only entertainment once aweek and that's poor after 11 o'clock the bar closes and the price of drinks is ridiculous. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Stayed here a week beginning of June. On arrival they like to take your bags to your room. They do get left unattended in Reception so if you're like me I took my own much to their disgust. I did explain that if I did that where I live they'd be gone in 60 seconds and not a risk I was willing to take plus not sure if even covered by travel insurance
Room was lovely and clean and had bath robes and slippers. Bit of a weird layout with the sink outside of the bathroom and I would really have loved a drawer to put my smalls away.
For All Inclusive the food was good and sometimes so hot it steamed my glasses up when I opened it up. The dining room itself isn't the nicest of places and if you eat on the terrace then you get smokers. The waiting staff were alright apart from the one female who was beyond miserable.
The drinks were dire and the reason I would not return or recommend the hotel, I lived on water and went out every evening. The plastic cups are absolutely awful and if you grab it in the wrong place you lose half your drink
The pool is really clean but the sunbeds are packed in and bagged really early. Plus I didn't see a no smoking area which in this day and age there really should be.
The location is great for the beach and the sunbeds and brolly down there are 10 euros per day. We left our towels down there and popped back for lunch. The sea is beautiful and shallow for a long way so quite safe for little ones. Sun beds are cheaper if you walk towards Laganas and the beach is a lot busier if that is what you want
Taxi rank outside hotel with taxi's being fixed price. These were great for getting out and about
Improve the coke, coffee, beer and cocktails and make some areas no smoking and I would love to return

We stayed at the Golden Sun at the beginning of July, choosing the hotel we were guided by the evaluation of others and the good location, many years earlier we had stayed at the hotel opposite and this year we decided to stay at the Golden Sun through recommendations. This is not our first Greek island and not the first time in Zante, unfortunately we are a bit disappointed after the holidays spent in this resort. This hotel is supposed to be 4 stars, but I honestly don't know if I would give it a 3. The pool area is very small, no rules apply, most guests leave their towels in the early morning blocking the sunbed. Usually when we went to 4 star resorts they each offered pool towels which were returned at the end of the day, in this hotel each guest must have their own towel which they will use throughout their stay. The lack of music and attractions for guests was another surprise, when we asked why there was no music, we heard that guests in this hotel prefer to read a book than listen to music, a bit strange because guests brought their private speakers to the swimming pool and within a few meters there were at least 3 loudspeakers different music. During the whole day, there was not 1 person who would collect empty drink cups that were everywhere and 4 people from the service were sitting and probably had a break for most of the day. So, coming to the resort with 4 stars all inclusive, the guest has to go for a drink and then make sure to clean up after. Food very poor, very little choice, often the trays in the buffet were empty, in such a beautiful country as Greece the selection of fruit shockingly small, only watermelons and sometimes pieces of orange or banana, we had to go out and eat out every evening. Waiters usually stand in a group instead of taking care of the guests, almost every day you had to ask to refill empty trays with food. We have been told that this hotel is a family run hotel therefore the atmosphere is so quiet unfortunately, there were groups of young people who were partying at night making an amazing noise, a few nights sleepless and the hotel management did not do anything about it despite requests, the possibility of moving to another building was impossible like my husband heard the hotel is fully booked, so we had a few sleepless nights because no one responded to our complaints. Drink selection very small and poor quality, most drinks are paid extra. The rooms are average, but you have to admit that they are clean, the ladies from the cleaning service always decorated our bed nicely and left the room very clean. Overall a very poor resort and definitely not 4 stars. Greek islands are famous for their sensational climate, hospitality and delicious food, unfortunately this hotel was neither hospitable nor tasty. Overall, I do not recommend this resort.

A very short transfer from the airport, we arrived to check in and requested a low level room as both me the missus have minor walking difficulties. Our original room was a garden view & the new one was with a pool view. Great start. The room had a large double bed, ample storage, tv, aircon, fridge, fridge, kettle, hairdryer & iron. Bathroom with toilet, wash basin & wet room shower. Toiletries, bathrobe, towels & slippers provided. Restaurant had a good selection on offer & always piping hot. Pool & main bar were very good with Dimitra At the pool bar & John(weatherman lol) at the other. Snacks served at the pool if you missed breakfast or wanted a light lunch . The pool was absolutely freezing, but refreshing. All staff were amazing. This is a fairly small hotel which means holiday makers tend to mix better & also because it was end of season & Covid everyone seem to mix quite well. We made lots of lovely people & made some great friends. The hotel location is almost ideal, watching the planes land & sometimes take off was incredible. Go left out the hotel with a 10 to 15min walk to Kalamaki strip with loads of bars & eateries. Go right with a short stroll to the lovely beach & 20min walk to Laganas or 35min to Agios Sostis marina along the sea shell covered Turtle beach.
Would recommend Kalamaki & The Golden Sun to anyone thinking of coming to Zante Thanks to all Davy & Alison x

Just finished a two weeks break until 19th Oct. Room 309 facing the pool There have been negative comments posted but totally not correct. There are a bit of agenda issues with these comments towards the hotel that are totally unfounded.
In the room a lovely welcome card from the management plus a bottle of wine, free safe, free wi-fi secured, consent hot water towels changed daily and sheets every over day air conditioning either hot or cold . Would advise to take a small extension to give extra points for chargers etc. Yes the pool is cold it is October but cleaned every night, plenty of loungers for this time of year,
Pool bar. You will receive excellent service from the member of staff, work hard and do talk to you as an asset to the hotel hoping she is back next year.
Entertainment 2 nights only each week so make your own entertainment ot head up to the strip, met some lovely couples to talk to, all friendly.
Restaurant There is a difference of opinion with the food, all is fine out of 42 sittings we only ate out twice, good choice plenty to pick from, the hotel has the right balance of cooked , salads and desserts.
All the Staff. From reception to the bar staff and cleaners all were a credit to the hotel all friendly, happy to talk to lets hope they all return in May when the hotel reopens.
Overall Well worth booking for relaxing days at the beach and around the pool, peaceful nights and good food take the negative comments with a pinch of salt, happy to answer any questions just inbox me

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Golden sun in Kalamaki, I don’t often write reviews but sometimes feel the need, we paid a little over £1500 for the 2 of us for a weeks all inclusive during the school half term, in my opinion this is a bargain. The hotel is listed as 4 star which maybe a tad high but Greek hotels are never as luxurious as alternatives in other destinations, the room was clean with good aircon and a nice bathroom with descent shower the sink was outside the bathroom but we soon got used to it, we were ground floor with a garden view to the rear of the hotel, the gardens were kept nice, We ate in the restaurant for breakfast and lunch everyday and found the food to be plentiful and of good quality, we did eat out most nights but only because we love the fantastic Greek hospitality found in the restaurants in town, our favourites are Ambrosia and bullhorn. The drinks were fine although I think the beer was quite weak which you can understand, the wine was ok and soft drinks ok too, There was very little entertainment only a Greek trio one night which was fun, there is no animation team at the hotel which to be honest we liked as it was very relaxing to just lie in the sun for a week chilling out I can see this would probably be a problem for families with younger children though, The hotel is just a short stroll to the beach and we enjoyed walking down in the early evening for a swim in the sea Overall a lovely chilled out week at the Golden sun

Stayed here for a week with my husband. We had a family room, 605, which was situated just away from the main hotel with garden views from the balcony. Room slightly dated but large with a four poster bed and a separate room with bunk beds. Housekeeping came daily with fresh towels and cleaned the room, stocking with new toiletries. Reception team were very welcoming and friendly. The pool area was lovely with plenty of sun beds. The snack bar was self service for soft drinks, beer and wine on tap. Toasties, French fries, pre-made rolls and a selection of cakes on offer from 11am. The beach was within a 3 minute walk, you could hire sun beds and parasols. Laganas was 1.5mile walk to the right and to the left was a mile walk before the cliffs stopped you walking. Beautiful to walk along the beach as this was a quiet time of year to visit Zante. Positives- fantastic location close to the beach, lovely sunny pool area, all staff, reception, bar, snack bar and restaurant, friendly. 10 minute walk to plenty of bars and restaurants. Negatives- the quality and choice of food. Very disappointed with choice. Breakfast, carrots and chips, grilled tomatoes and mushrooms caked in garlic. Poor labelling at lunch/dinner, meat in most dishes, even if it didn’t state meat, most pasta/rice had meat cut up in the dish or in the sauces. Salad bar was ok but didn’t change all week so as a vegetarian I ate plenty of lettuce, onion, tomato and cheese. Also a big negative was the single use plastic. This was on the self service drinks and the snack bar for chips/cakes etc. We read a review stating to take your own cups, which we did, very helpful as these we reused all week. The shower gel/shampoo etc was daily single use tubes. I would recommend more information from the hotel regarding their sister hotel next door The Golden Sun Resort. A price list and what’s on offer would of been good. Would we stay again, no, only because the food on offer was in our option very poor quality and choice. If the hotel improved on this, then we certainly would but we were looking forward to coming home for a decent meal.

Just come back from this hotel had a lovely room number 321 with walk in shower lots of hanging space and drawers, tv, fridge , iron , hairdryer and aircon. Had the best views over the sea and could see the planes coming in. If you love the sun it was red hot on the balcony in the afternoons. I can’t fault anything in the room it was cleaned everyday with nice touch of making shapes with my nightie !The pool area was lovely and could always get a bed if required we prefer the beach which is a five minute walk. The food is nice, was always something to eat even if you’re picky and staff all very nice and polite. My only gripe would be the size of the plastic cups, you filled one drank it then needed to fill again as so small, take your own and fill them. This is our first time going all inclusive and for the price it was ok, we prefer to eat out a few times and would highly recommend Vintage and Bullhorn. If you go on the main strip there is lovely bars like friends bar and why not worth a try. Would definitely go back don’t let the negative reviews put you off.

Please be aware if you are staying at this hotel some of the photographs on the TUI website for this hotel is in fact not of this hotel but the hotel next door which is part of the same company and considerably more expensive, this is very misleading and we did complain to the TUI rep . After a short transfer from the airport we arrived at our hotel checking in was very smooth and efficient. No forms to fill-in just had to pay our tourist tax. Then the reception staff put stickers on your suitcase with your room number and a member of staff shows you to your room and explains how the safe works, and also how the air conditioning works bags were delivered to our room shortly afterwards . The rooms have a modern contemporary feel with a rainfall shower and the sink situated outside of the bathroom room but cheap plastic coathangers to hang your clothes the room is cleaned daily and left nice and clean with clean towels and fresh toiletries if you need them also there is a pair of slippers and a robes also in the room it has a proper hairdryer and a Travel iron . The food in the restaurant is okay but if you are a fussy eater you might struggle. Some nights was good and some nights not so good. The restaurant itself has a canteen feel about it plastic glasses for your drinks and no real atmosphere. The swimming pool area is ok we didn’t have much trouble finding a sunbed. The atmosphere around the pool is very loud people shouting swearing no respect for other people. They also have these three water spouts which shoots water into the swimming pool about 2 m high which are very noisy. It would be better if these were turned off as it stopped people using that area of the pool We did on several occasions go down to the beach which is a short walk from the hotel and hire some sunbeds down there which has a nice café and was considerably more chilled out .The poolside Café serves chips toasted sandwiches, some rolls and salads and ice creams. You can help yourself to beer and soft drinks as well. This area could do with an upgrade. Also, as you probably know the hotel is right in the flight path for the airport, but you get used to it. all the staff we interacted with were very good the reception staff were very helpful and knowledgeable special mention to Bella a waitress in the restaurant always welcomed us with a smile and was very pleasant. Also a young man called Dennis also in the restaurant never stopped working. The Barman. in the hotel bar, very efficient with quick service. the location of the hotel is very good A very short walk to the beach and to the main road, which has a lot of bars and restaurants something for everybody places I would recommend the cave bar which is quite unique and plays 80s music all night with very reasonably priced drinks also the iguana bar a nice modern establishment with an amazing roof terrace and a sports bar underneath we went there several nights and also had a meal there highly recommended The question is, would I return to this hotel with all the above points in mind probably not but I would definitely Come back to this area.
