Caretta Beach Resort & Waterpark is celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere and proximity to the beach, yet some visitors feel additional costs dampen the value of their stay. While the hotel's cleanliness and friendly staff are often commended, opinions on room quality and service vary, with some describing rooms as basic and experiences with staff as inconsistent. The kids disco and comprehensive amenities, including a water park, are highlights, although guests have mentioned a desire for more varied food options and longer entertainment.

We were a group of different ages. Nobody was bored. Fun animations for children and adults. The food is great, healthy and fresh, classic and regional, Greek cakes full of honey and creams, delicious for those with a sweet tooth. Room - apartment 2+2 in building E, renovated, clean, towels and bed linen changed frequently, every 1 or 2 days, otherwise towels and bed linen. There are many swimming pools, the main one is near the net, the second one is 0.6-1.6 m, uneven, behind the snack bar there are slides and other attractions, these pools are noisy, mainly thanks to joyful children and friends playing football, the rest of the pools are hidden between buildings and there it is quiet. Kalamaki is a small town with a main street with restaurants and shops. Magnets for 1 euro, cheaper than on the Baltic Sea ;). There is a cheap shop next to the hotel with everything: cigarettes, Greek sweets, olives, spices, magnets, turtles, a pool ball for 3 euros. Very nice service. Grecos animators do a great job in this hotel. They are everywhere and very helpful. I recommend it with a clear conscience. Happy Holidays.

I had read a lot of negative reviews before arriving, but overall it’s a nice clean hotel, good food but not a lot of variance day to day, good snack bar and staff quick to help, locals use the pools too which is annoying when you’ve paid thousands to be there and they just walk in and use the facilities for free, be prepared to get up early for a sun bed around the main pool, smaller pools are easier to get a sun bed at, the free bus service to the beach which runs on the hour every hour was like trying to break a world record for the number of people you can fit into a minibus, they managed to get 23 people into a minibus designed to seat 15, annoying that you have to pay extra for your safe in the room and WiFi is also an added extra, rooms were basic but clean and plenty of space, they’re cleaned every day, and your toilet paper bin emptied, air conditioning was good, you’re only sleeping in it so not fussed about the room so long as everything worked which it did. Water park was good for the kids and they thoroughly enjoyed it, only complaint about it would be that they never seemed to have enough staff to have all the slides open at the same time, there always seemed to be one that wasn’t running at any one time, on-site shop is expensive compared to the shops on the strip. We really enjoyed our time here, just little things like extras that should really be part and parcel of an all inclusive holiday that annoyed me, this was our second trip to Kalamaki, our first in this hotel, we stayed 11 nights and chose this hotel because of its facilities, easy access to the main strip with plenty of restaurants and it’s near to the beach, the transfers to and from the airport are quick too, only 10 minutes, I can’t stand being stuck on a coach for long periods, overall a thumbs up but room for improvement, would I go again ……. Maybe

Overall, a super nice hotel that provides quite excellent framework for a good child-friendly holiday.

Note points:

• The airport is right next door, so when there are landing and facilitating flights, you are fully aware of this 😅 but you turn to it quite quickly.

• Greece is a lively country in the evening, even to very late, so it is only after midnight that it becomes calm.

Plus:

• Staff are mega cute with the kids. There is no doubt that it is part of the hotel’s culture that especially the children should have fun. And that's what they're good for. From receptionists, to catering staff and rescuers in the waterland.

• It is quite good food that comes with overall. There is a lot to choose from, and in the low season when we were there, it went quickly to get to and there were great opportunities to sit for themselves.

• Many good facilities, and especially pools in different places make it possible to find places where it is more quiet. And that is what you would like at this hotel, where there are especially many guests from one particular country who do not have the best tourist reputation. And it's not Russia I mean.

• The two restaurants, Main and "Greek", are quite honorable. You eat very well here. It would be fine for you (seems the kids) if their fried stuff was brittle. Tip for the hotel: When you put a lid on crisp stuff, it gets soft 😄

• Super nice that there is a small fun park near the hotel. That makes it exciting in the evening too. Here, however, you pay to try things, which is quite reasonable and not especially expensive.

• Waterland is superb. It is not entirely big, but has what it takes to have some fun and good hours sometimes a week.

Minuser:

• The first has nothing to do with the hotel. But the dominant guest type is extremely full and has so unbelievably bad manners that it can make a less good impression. People who act as if they are the Owner of everything, make noise, let their children rage and bother others, leave garbage and service where they have been, jump over queues and are decisively dishonest toward others, then just pull down. Sorry. You can notice that it also drains the staff, which is a pity, because they want to do it well.

• "Ala carte" restaurant you simply have to walk by. That's bad. Promises delicious Italian food, but I'm pretty sure there will be some people to the west who will think they are bespottering their food culture. The risotto is simply a disgrace. And we were served the dessert, without the waitress wanting to rip off the main retreat service. So we went up with it ourselves. Shameful.

Total:

A hotel where you can have a super holiday, as long as you only draw 10% of your expectations from photos. Thanks for a really good stay.

By the way: there are bad reviews about landed other water at the hotel. We drank juice/soda and ate the salad. No one here got sick of it. However, we bought bottled water and used it for drinking/toothbrushing. So I would say that it is safe enough to eat/drink at the hotel.

This has to be one of the worst hotel I have been to. We walked in lady on reception was so rude told us to download an app and put the code in here your key and good bye, didn’t tell us anything. We then went to our room it was filthy absolutely awful food all over the microwave coffee still on the cups from previous people, bathroom absolutely disgusting, air conditioning unit was yellow like someone had been smoking 40 in that room a day the room was so out dated. Went on to the balcony table was falling apart dust on top of the head board absolutely disgusting. We asked for a different room we got moved room wasn’t any better but was okay I did have to clean the bath out my self so my daughter could have a bath!. Let’s move on to the facilities children play park big gaps in the floor trip hazard wasn’t really child friendly I noticed up on entering the park it at a sign play at your own risk you ain’t kidding!. The pools surely there should be a life guard at each pool but there was only one at the water park with the big slides. The night we went to the restaurant on the pool the bridge was broken a metal rod just hanging a child could of easily fell striaght into the pool, when I came to look at it the next morning theurchad cable tided it but of been better been fixed properly. The lift broken on our second day I had to carry my pram up and down the stairs along with my two year old. As for the lift it had a layer of dust on it the glass down need a clean the glass need a clean as well!. I also witnessed cleaner putting clean sheet and towel in the lift on the dirty floor to take upstairs and put in people rooms!. Yes the cleaners come in every day but their don’t give you fresh cups and glasses so only place to clean your cones is in the bathroom not very hygienic. The water park is so outdated I think we stayed their half hour never went back. Staff were very rude never cracked a smile the only staff that were nice was the staff in the main restaurant the rest were rude. As for the food is wasn’t great we ended up eating out drinks were watered down. The arcade amusement park I wouldn’t waste your time or money all the ride did was take money and not work their also had a sign up as you walked in saying play at your own risk clearly don’t have insurance. This definitely isn’t a 4 star hotel this experience has put us off going back to Greece. I think their need training on health and safety and also hygiene , their clearly don’t know what it is?. Also every morning a hose pipe was in the middle of the floor a perfect trip hazard for my Toddler.

Had amazing time with my three children age 13,10,8.
When arrived, we were told we had to pay tourists tax???
We Was never told about this so wasn’t happy that we had to give them £50. we had our suitcase carried to our room, very clean.
Everyday a cleaner went in washed the floors made the bed and gave us fresh towels.
Food was good 😊 can’t complain the buffet had a wide range of dishes suited for everyone. Lots of staff to tidy and keep it clean. Drinks bar was okay too.
The kids loved the snack/ ice cream bar.
Water park opens from 10.30-5 everyday
We noticed that you did have to start queueing at least 45 minutes before if you want to get a subbed. It did however keep the kids entertained for the whole time.
Funfair in the evening was great kept my younger two entertained for a good couple of hours. But this wasn’t free so can be a little costly.
Staff all very friendly and helpful.
Pools were cleaned every night.
You can get a bus to the beach everyday from 11 till 6 every hour.
The only downside is we booked the al le carte restaurant, really limited menu.
Food wasn’t great at all. It was also to hot in there 🥵 so couldn’t wait to get out.

We stayed at the hotel with an all inclusive package in July 2024. I put 3 stars and justify: 1) the food was very moderate in all the hotel restaurants even in the a la carte Italian and all inclusive bars. Low quality both tasty and in terms of materials. We choose every year all inclusive, we have no special expectations from the food, but it was very disappointing for us in this particular area. The same goes for drinks, juices and coffee that includes all inclusive. 2) the room was apparently not clean enough from the first moment we entered and we attribute it to the feeling that the staff was little and ran to take. 3) Air condition had only one room of the two as as we were told it was considered one room that we had closed. In essence, it was two small rooms that communicated with an inner door. Rooms somewhat old in their construction and aesthetics. 4) There are no baggage transport vehicles from the parking lot to the room on arrival and tandem at departure. 5) some sections of the hotel have access from the street passing and cars e.g. the mini market, some blocks with apartments and pools. Positives of the hotel :1) the water park if the waterways do not work all at the same time but with a program that did not affect us very much. 2) the large playground that opens in the afternoon but has an extra charge. 3) The staff very polite and especially the employees in the restaurants (excellent all and always smiling), in the bars and in the cleaning. 4) The reception also has polite and willing staff but I think they should inform people about the amenities upon arrival without having to ask at first. 5) Possibility of using the hotel the same day after check out. In conclusion nice hotel to enjoy children waterpark.

Just returned from a week away, 3 adults and 2 16 yr olds. It’s easier to start with the postivies. Only 10-15 mins transfer which was great. The areas around the hotel are kept very clean, and all staff from bar people to the restaurant staff are very nice and friendly, just a shame the check-in lady wasn’t. The food is what it is for a AI nothing great but could eat it, the brekki was the best bit as fresh runny porched eggs was there, ( and that’s why I gave it another star. Otherwise it would be a one star) there we go positives over.
Negative bits. We had 2 one bed apartments, and they are nothing like jet2 advertise. They are not for for purpose. The shower leaked all over the floor the sink was loose you couldn’t lean on it, complained about this they re sealed the sink didn’t do much did nothing for the shower. The room was so small and out dated, you couldn’t open the wardrobe fully as there wasn’t enough room from the bed, same with the balcony which could fit 2 ppl out there max, we had 3 in the room but only 2 chairs so couldn’t even sit outside together. The air con leaked over the top off the wardrobe and the unit leaked all over the balcony, you stood in a large puddles every time you went out onto it. No tea/coffee sachets not even a free bottle off water. Apart from 1 small wardrobe and a few cubbie holes there was no other storage the room was truly awful.
Now there’s no need to get up early for a sun bed as ppl leave there towels on them from the day before you have no chance getting anywhere around the main pool, but there is another pool about a min away which is bigger and if your early you can get a bed around there.
Now we booked this place for the water park, which when speaking to staff isn’t actually outright owned by the hotel but there guest can use it, it it’s open to the public and does get very busy no chance off a subbed unless you cue from early. But not staffed well as only a few slides open at anyone time, they switched throughout the day which ones to open. Not what I paid for.
I certainly can’t recommend this hotel and wouldn’t go back even if it was free.

Dear guest Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that your holiday haven't lived up to your expectations. We will take this review with us further as there things we will need to take a closer look at. In regards to rooms, the room can and will differ from photos this is also stated on the website. In regards to the sun beds, we have them around all of our pools, but unfortunately we don't have the space for all guests at the main pool area. In regards to the waterpark, the slides, wave pool etc. is open in different hours due to safety reasons. The waterpark of course have the amount of staff as required. Kind regards Caretta Beach

Fantastic holiday during the October holidays. Plenty to keep the kids entertained etc. When I had booked and started to read other reviews I was a bit sceptical of the complex as not very good ratings and a lack of google maps pictures made feel a bit unsure what I was going to but it was fantastic, if you are considering booking this then do it. Accommodation, I was in block B overlooking the 2 pools , yes there was noise but only till 11pm then it was fine, room was really clean, fridge kept out water cold and kettle and cups ( unlike some Spanish resorts where you have to pay for one ) Food, Great choice of food , they served the same basic foods everyday , Pizza /pasta etc but always had different soups and meats available. The snack bars gave a great choice throughout the day, kebabs /pizza /chips and sandwiches. Bar , there was plenty drinks to chose from for adults and kids, bar staff were really friendly. Only one point that disappointed me is no 0% lager option, this really needs to be considered by European resorts as becoming a more popular choice a bit like when your were a vegetarian in the 80s/90s you were given either 1 option or even no choices of vegetarian food. The resort is located 6 min drive from the airport , not really an issue with the noise, you hear the odd plane landing and taking off but has no impact to your holiday experience, its close to the main road which offers pubs / restaurants local shops / car rental and excursions....If you come across any negative reviews about this place then the people who have left them may have been expecting a 5 star adults only resort. You will not regret booking this holiday, I would have booked for 2025 but have already booked elsewhere, will consider this place for Oct 26

Came here as a family of 9 at the end of May 7 adults, 2 children ages 4 and 3. Staff were as helpful as they could be we are a big family so we tend to stick to ourselves when on holiday found the staff were always friendly and helpful even to the point my 3yr old granddaughter wanted cereal for dinner they went and got her some.
Food was typical all inclusive menu for breakfast there was loads of options full English, cereal, toast, pastries, fruit and more. Evenings chips pizza nuggets and pasta for the kids there was always 2 different types of pasta and then a plain pasta for the picky eaters. At any one evening meal there was 3 types of meat and 2 types of fish veg and rice. I'm not a pudding eater, but I even tried a couple. Lunch we tended to go the snack bars which did hot dogs gyros chips onion rings nuggets burgers salad pots and fruit pots also the ice cream was a big hit and tasted amazing.
Amenities were great and clean 10euros per night for the bouncy castles the kids loved them, arcades was a bit hit and miss sometimes a machine worked next day not.
Our rooms were cleaned every day maids were polite and lovely my granddaughter was sick in the night and reception called the maid who came immediately in her pjs with clean sheets and helped us.
All in all a completely fantastic complex we would highly recommend it

We have just come back from 10 days in Zante. I was worried about staying in the hotel after reading reviews about the food and entertainment but it wasn't that bad after all. Food was pretty good. What do you expect for all- inclusive. Choice of two restaurants plus the Italian that you could go to once a week. The entertainment there was something on every night. The kids disco was great staff brilliant. Yes, you have to pay extra for the bouncy castle land and arcades but the bouncy castle land is unlimited all night once you've paid to get in. So the children would just go in and out all night. The rooms were really clean. The cleaners went in everyday, made your bed and gave you clean towels .The main pool that had the activities on in the day was very busy towels down on some beds by 7:00 a.m. but the bigger pool by the Italian restaurant was quiet. My kids loved it here and there was always sun beds. The water park was great. Yes you had to que to go in at 10:00 but we always managed to find a bed even if we went in in the afternoon after being out in the morning.
