The Athina apartments are situated in the popular resort of Kalamaki, on the south east coast of Zakynthos Island. A family run complex, surrounded by beautiful landscaped gardens, set back from the main road, makes this a superb place to stay for people of all ages who wish to enjoy memorable holidays in a hospitable environment. The complex consists of one bedroom apartments overlooking the main road or the garden and studios overlooking the sea, the surrounding countryside or the garden, a swimming pool and pool bar. My wife and I have just returned from a week’s stay at The Athina Apts and enjoyed every minute. After a long tiring day traveling we were met at reception by the owner Athina who welcomed us and explained everything we needed to know about the apartments and the area, she was so friendly and professional it really was refreshing talking to her. The apartment itself was spacious clean, fresh and well equipped. The maid service was second to none and they turned up every day during our stay to change the bedding, towels and essentials whether needed or not, well done ladies. The pool area was spotless and the snack bar served a wide variety of meals and drinks, thanks Dennis. In the afternoon Magic George takes over the snack bar and his cooking is exceptional (he’s asked me to say that). No seriously the food is really good from breakfast to dinner and the prices are really good value for the large fresh potions served. Once again I can’t thank the management and all the staff enough for making us feel so relaxed and welcome, a perfect holiday. We will be returning soon and I will be recommending to all our friends and family to visit The Athina Apts.

We received a warm welcome from the owner, Athina, who gave us really useful information about the island and local amenities. The room itself was perfect for us. 1 large bedroom with twin beds, plus 2 more single beds (Real beds, NOT camp/sofa beds) in the main living space. There was a small kitchenette but we only used the fridge/freezer and kettle which were in good working order.
The room was spacious, clean and well maintained. It was typically simple and basic but we had good quality bed sheets that were fresh. Towels were thick, clean and changed frequently.
The room had a safe and there was no extra charge for this which is rare but a welcomed extra. The air conditioning was charged daily, however it was very effective and necessary given the temperatures were around 40 degrees each day!
Athina and Ellie were the most helpful, friendly people you could hope to have as hosts and they always made time to help you even though they were very busy.
The location of the apartments was excellent. Right in the middle of the shops, bars and restaurants but surprisingly quiet. We were never disturbed at night or early in the morning.
Dennis and George work really hard in the pool snack bar, and again, make you feel like you are genuinely welcome. There were plenty of sunbeds and the pool area was well maintained and clean.
We have already booked to back next year which is something we never do and this shows how happy we were here.

Fantastic friendly family run apartments cleaners come every day except Sunday, lots of work been done during lock down added a pool and bar run by the fabulous George , food good price and tasty dishes . We were so happy to be back has you become part of the family not just a guest who checks in and becomes anonymous. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and any problems are dealt with straight away definitely the best apartments in Kalamaki

Second time staying in Athina apartments and was not disappointed. The rooms are basic, but really clean (and cleaned daily) and the family and staff are so friendly and helpful. The apartments are located near the shops/bus routes and a short walk to a beautiful, quiet beach. They have also added a pool this year, which we used a lot! Can't fault Athina Apts and would definitely recommend them as a holiday destination. Top tip - book with them directly rather than using a holiday company as this ensures they get the full amount rather than the percentage the holiday companies offer them!

The welcome we had from the owners everyday was lovely, so friendly and helpful. Perfect bar staff too, Dennis and George would do anything for you, both were very kind and nothing was to much trouble. Food served was amazing, my kids loved their Gyros and especially the chips made out of little potatoes. The apartments are in a perfect location, close to all shops and restaurants. Apartments were cleaned regularly and bins emptied every day, towels and bedding changed regularly . The pool was amazing, lovely and clean. lots of free sunbeds all day. They all worked very hard. Great apartments with very friendly and helpful staff, amazing value, good location just a short walk from the beautiful Kalamaki beach and about a 30-40 minute walk from the busy party city of Laganas. The pool bar has fantastic and likeable staff who love to spend time with and talk to the guests, and the food is exceptional and affordable.
The town of Kalamaki itself has a whole strip of bars and restaurants, and multiple supermarkets for anything you need while staying, usually at a very affordable price. The view from the apartment features a large mountain and an expansive skyline for watching the sun set from your balcony.
Shoutout to George the barman who made our stay even better every day and night. 😊

These apartments are in the perfect location, less than a minute from the bars and restaurants and a short stroll to the beach, some rooms (not many) overlook the strip but others (most) overlook the pool and mountain views with sea glimpses which are stunning. We stayed in a room overlooking the pool etc and we were very happy. Our room although very basic was clean, linen and towels changed regularly, more often than we were told on arrival! Our only criticism was a very small shower but it was manageable. Pool area great, lovely pool, no trouble getting a sun bed. Bar and snack bar good if you don’t want to go far during the day, plenty of choice, bar stays open till late so perfect for a nightcap.
Ellie, George and Dennis were exceptional, nothing too much trouble, any issues dealt with straight away. We recommend this as a base and want to say thank you for a lovely stay xx

This is the 3rd time in the last 3 visits to Zakynthos that I have stayed at the Athina Apartments. It's a perfect place to stay, at a very reasonable price, to enjoy all the amenities Kalamaki has to offer and although it is central , there was no disturbance experienced from the noise of traffic or holidaymakers. Everything that Kalamaki has to offer is available within a short walk. Each time that I have stayed here I have found everything perfect for me and now with the addition of the pool and the snack bar, even better. Athina, Ellie, Dennis and the staff are most helpful and considerate. Since I first stayed here, it has always been the place that I try and book for my Kalamaki holiday.

Myself and my husband had the most amazing holiday here. From the moment we arrived we where treated like family. Our room was lovely with very comfortable beds, a/c, safe , tv , kettle, toaster, fridge, hob, cutlery and tableware , everything you needed if you wanted to prepare meals. The room was spotless and cleaned and bedding changed every day (except Sunday ) everyone needs a day off 👍. Shower was powerful and towels provided daily. The pool is lovely and plenty of sunbeds with a poolside bar and snack bar, the food is amazing with plenty of options from breakfast to evening catered for. Staff go above and beyond , nothing too much trouble. Looking forward to returning 😀

We stayed for 2 weeks in a one bedroom apartment with street views from the balcony. The apartment was spacious and reasonably well stocked with cutlery and crockery. There was a full size fridge, a toaster and kettle and a 2 ring electric hob. No need to cook in my opinion as there were numerous lovely restaurants within a few minutes walk. The apartment was cleaned every day apart from Sunday and sheets and towels changed every 2 or 3 days. There was a safe which was free to use- unusual these days. Air conditioning was an optional extra which we didn’t use. Some of the furniture was a little dated but that didn’t detract from our stay. Some people have complained about the noise from local bars. We found that if the patio doors were closed at night, we couldn’t really hear anything from outside. The apartment block is right on the main road running through Kalamaki. It really central to all amenities. There is a supermarket just downstairs where you can get anything you need. The beach is about a 10 minute stroll from the apartments. It’s a lovely walk down paths between green fields. The beach is beautiful. Clean and well looked after. The pool area was lovely. Plenty of sun-beds. Nice relaxing music and the pool bar served drinks and snacks. We enjoyed our stay and will be returning next year!

Athina has a washing line outside each apartment with pegs provided It depends which area your room will be The ones facing the car park get the sun and wind on the back Clothes dry really quickly you can put a line out from the front also Hope this helps I dry all my washing like this no problems
