I had a lamb shank which was a bit tough but I enjoyed the mashed potato and other steamed veges. I was relieved to find the Hotel open as there were not many other options in the township. Nice and warm.

We booked a table here prior to arriving in Ranfurly which was a good thing as it was very busy. The service was great however this is probably the only positive. When we arrived we went to the bar and were told our table was around the corner, unfortunately there was only one menu but that's ok. We ordered our... More

Having driven past this old hotel a couple of times on previous trips we decided to stay for a night. It is ideally situated for visits to some of the old mining towns of Otago. We opted for the rooms with en-suite facilities as there are some rooms with shared bathrooms. The rooms are a bit dated and the outlook... More

Classic rural Kiwi pub. Nothing flash but decent dinner with some good local Otago Wines available by the glass. Good southern hospitality. They will pick you up and deliver you back where you are staying complimentary although many places easily walkable as its in the central of the town and all very flat for walking. Only disappointment we paid about... More

A lovely old art deco building with a typical country pub feel. The staff were all friendly and welcoming happy to chat about our day. Along with the usual Speight's beverage range they also offered an extensive classic pub menu but with the choice of a light serving instead of the usual gigantic offering, this was a good idea for... We didn't stay here, but the Art Deco decor etc is lovely. We ate here , however, and the good was very good- top quality pub food. The chicken, bacon and Camembert pizza was delicious- we ate some cold for lunch the next day on the rail trail- and my rib eye steak with pepper corn sauce was excellent. Lovely... More

Beautiful historic building with a popular pub. They offer many choices including light meals, pizzas, salads, mains and desserts. Lamb shanks, beef schnitzels and chicken salad were great. Very good local wines.

You couldn't find nicer, warm and caring folk in the hospitality industry. They made our meal feel like you were at home and made sure we had everything needed to enjoy dining together. The menu is a typical pub menu but was presented with real class.

A trip back in time as the hotel has lovingly maintained many of it original features, the cosy hotels decor was beautiful. The entire venue was extremely clean and tidy & both our ensuited room and the rest of the hotels common room facilities were... More

Room was clean and reasonably quiet - although decor and fittings (such as showers) a little dated. Meal in the hotel restaurant was good - including a very tasty whitebait omelette. The breakfast (additional cost) was also hearty. Overall reasonably good value for money - and a convenient stop on the Central Otago rail trail.
