We had a celebratory dinner because of the A level results of my eldest daughter. Thursday 1/2 price pro secco night is a huge attraction during the whole year on Thursdays anyway. We decided for starters to share a fish deli board with crab dip, whitebait, squid , smoked mackerel and some salad and lemon mayonnaise together with a crab... More

Stayed here having booked on line. I think we chose a particularly busy time to stay but the staff did there most to please us. This is a busy and popular bar and hotel / restaurant. We can't comment on the restaurant because we chose to eat out - there are several restaurants very close by including Italian , Indian... More

My husband and I booked the Richard Onslow on the second night of a three day cycling holiday and it was a most welcome break. The staff were most obliging, giving us advice on parking up the bikes, and accommodating our needs. The room was delightful, on two levels and very characterful. Despite overlooking the High Street in Summer, we... More

Our grand children are due to start school in Cranleigh this September 2016 and so my wife and I decided to drive down from Yorkshire and explore the area. Our son had recommended The Richard Onslow where he had stayed a few times. We stayed two nights and were very pleasantly surprised and very satisfied. Each room is allocated it's... More

My wife and I stayed at The Richard Onslow Room one weekend due to a wedding we were attending locally. This is an attractive traditional inn, right in the heart of Cranleigh along the main (though quiet) high street. First and foremost a good quality pub with a restaurant, it boasts 10 or so rooms. We stayed two nights, in... More

We had dinner here. We were recommended here by another pub that had stopped serving food at 3pm. We sat outside the day was beautiful and sunny the staff were very friendly and quick on getting things cleared away. I had a roast dinner there was plenty on the plate the beef melted in your mouth the veg was cooked... More

Four of us for lunch. Not crowded, tables well-spaced. Good food, although service a bit slow. One of the people who served us lacked finesse: plates passed across in front of diners, plates handed not placed on table, flowerpot slammed on table, pushing through our group as we left, brusque and noisy, lacking courtesy.

Firstly I would like to commend the owners for keeping the character of such a old building but my commendations stop there unfortunately. Firstly the staff, I was left sitting without a drink for roughly 15 minutes after ordering! This maybe a small problem but when the restaurant was empty & 4 staff members standing around this started to niggle... More

We stayed at the Richard Onslow last week to attend a wedding near by. We stayed in room 4 which is a family room . The room was fantastic with plenty of room. We ate in the garden in the evening and the food was very nice . Breakfast in the morning was great too with lots of choice.

Visiting friends near our old haunts we came here for dinner. Food was OK and some was good - nothing amazing, but the service remains exceedingly slow and uncaring. The staff love talking to each other - but apparently couldn't care less about the customers. It appears to be gradually heading back to being something of a drinking pub rather... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
We have ten lovely en suite bedrooms with all the little comforts you’d find at home. Each one’s newly refurbished, and simply but stylishly decorated in keeping with the pub’s age, making the most of original fireplaces, ancient beams & low doorways. Some rooms overlook the hustle and bustle of the high street, others have a view over our sunny patio hidden away at the back of the pub. We have doubles with king-size beds, twins and family rooms. There’s even a box room if you just want somewhere cosy to hole up for the night, plus a fully accessible double room on the ground floor. All of them have really comfy beds, great linen, power showers and lovely toiletries, as well as mod cons like flat-screen TV with Freeview, free WiFi and tea & coffee-making equipment. ... more   less
