Due to a last minute decision, to sqeeze in a few nights at Malapascua Island, the better hotels like Tepanee were already booked out. Pro: + top location at the cliffs at western end of Bounty Beach, just a few minutes walk away from the restaurants + friendly and helpful staff + spacious Deluxe Suite w/ ocean view, overlooking the entire Bounty Beach while sitting on the balcony + fair room rates + arrangement of private car transfer from/to Cebu Airport on request was reliable and at a very reasonable rate +/- simple but ok breakfast Underwhelming: - very sparsely furnitured "Deluxe" suite - not bedside lamps and tables, not bedside light switch, no amenities other than a little shampoo bag and 2 t-paper rolls, kind of careless - bathroom wasn't clean at arrival, crooked bathroom door hinge. Bathroom door cold only be closed by application of force - during low tide very shallow, not swimmable beach Not the fault of the owner is a misleading foto, posted by a fellow traveller, that shows a swimming pool, which looks very nice. The only problem is, that it is from whatever Blue Corals Hotels elsewhere on the planet. But defo not from Blue Corals Malapascua, which neither has a pool, nor pretends to have one. I got trapped by this foto, too. Bottom line: Hotel ok for 3-5 nights, when the price is right, but not sure if I would book again.…
The room had air conditioning when I checked in. I went to book dives at a dive shop. They took the do not disturb sign off my door and turned off air conditioner. They turned off the circuit breaker as well. The booking says bungalow duplex. It’s not a bungalow nor a duplex. It’s a tiny little room with a fan. So many other hotels on the island. No one at the front desk. They also intentionally ignored calls from trip.com when I tried to cancel and book somewhere else. Stay somewhere else!!!
I must admit that Blue Corals was not what I expected given the location and that it is one of the largest properties on the island but on saying that: they made up for the disappointments is other ways. I am not a drinker but I do like my coffee, especially the first one in the morning. Problem one: no kettle in the room. Solutions: the immediately brought out a new boxed kettle, cup and tea spoon. No fuss, just all smiles. Problem two, poor Internet in my room: we all love internet and while I am not much for social media, I do have work to do. Solution: take the WiFi booster for the evening. :-) For me, Blue Corals was a home from home, friendly, easy going, nothing too much trouble. No mess, no fuss and a place I would happily return to on my next visit to Malapascua. If I had one gripe it would be breakfast: please, please, please stop serving that toasted sweet bread as it ruins the taste of good old bacon and eggs. All in all a big thank you to all at Blue Corals and I mean ALL! from the security on the stairs up to the owner and all in between for making my stay a pleasurable one. Best Regards to you all.…
To start off, booking for Blue Corals is difficult as room rate is confusing with fan, refrigerator, air-conditioning, balcony etc al causing price differences. The 1st dispute at arrival is on air-conditioning as I booked a room with air-conditioner but to turn on, demands 500peso / night. This is fine as overall cost is still low. Room condition: 1/5 - basic room setting. Size is very big and comfy. However, on 2nd last day, there is sewage water leak from next room to mine, followed by blockage of toilet. On the last day, can only go to toilet at restaurant on G/F. Room facility: 2/5 - on electrical appliances, you get only what you pay. So pay attention to description of the room. One reminder, there is NO blanket, only a thin bed sheet (with some stains). Breakfast: 3/5 - simple American (eg Bread & Butter with ham & egg, pancake) or Philippine (meat & rice). All breakfast comes in set. Acceptable to serve as caloric intake & filled the stomach Overview from hotel room: 5/5 - very nice Overall, not recommended as there are better accommodations within dive shop at lower price too. …
We got a standard room. The room is very basic, no refrigerator, no free water etc. Just beds and AC. There was a gigant spider first day and a second smaller spider the other night. Breakfast not that fun, egg and bacon and coffe or Philippine breakfast. Reception guy friendly. A descent stay after all.
