Sunset Lodge B&B appears to be a purpose built B&B property with self contained modern rooms overlooking a courtyard pool, set on a large block and probably ideal for those seeking a quiet retreat. We only stayed the one night so observations based on our short stay. The owner was helpfull with suggestions but definately kept a low presence. The continental breafast was in a large dinning area and of a good standard the wifi was also good Baylys Beach is a small township, and a little remote from the usual amenities. and the B&B is a good 20 minutes walk to beachside so unless driving be prepared for a good hilly walk. While we were there, we were told there were only a couple of places to get a meal unless you were prepared to drive the 12 klms back to Dargavile. 10 minutes walk away, the local cafe "Sharkies" provided a good meal at reasonable prices and appeared to be a favourite by locals. I found this property hard to rate,as somehow something was missing , nothing tangible, nevertheless I would stay here again if in the area. …
This boutique B&B is fantastic. We had only booked a 1 night stay and wished we had booked for longer and this accommodation was by far the best that we stayed in whilst travelling round NZ. The views are breathtaking and the rooms are modern and clean. Breakfast is included. The staff were very helpful, friendly and welcoming and I would definitely visit again.
From the time that you turn into the grounds of the lodge - it is so gorgeous - lovely palms trees and beautiful gardens. The hosts are the best - friendly, helpful and bend over backwards to make sure your stay is very memorable. The bedroom and bathroom was 100% luxury and and the view is is stunning- you can hear the waves breaking on the beach. The breakfast and the swimming pool are a real bonus and that they are pet friendly - what can I say other than just one of the best places we have stayed in NZ - love it
We spent a night with these guys on the way up the west coast on our recent trip to the Bay of Islands. Fair to say we checked TA prior to booking and chose based on some great reviews but if anything the reality turned out to be better. The room was really nicely fitted out, comfortable bed and a pool view. Breakfast in the morning was nice and came as part of the tariff. The property is a very short walk to both the beach which was lovely and also just around the corner from Sharkey's which is essentially a weird fusion between a licensed cafe and a local supermarket which was also great. All in all a great place to stay and highly recommended!
Really enjoyed our stay here, the rooms are gorgeous with big comfy beds! Staff are really helpful too! We enjoyed the pool use and the breakfast being included was a delicious bonus! Little helpful addons were the use of pool or beach towels for guests. Thanks a lot team, loved it here.
