We just got back from Generations Riviera Maya, and couldn't wait to write this review. It was our 3rd trip to Mexico in an all inclusive resort, but this one was by far the best experience. We took full advantage of all the amenities. Including kids club, Bali beach beds, massage, spa,, shows, all the delicious dinner restaurants, authentic Mexican lunch buffets by the pool.. I could go on! Every meal was delicious unique and fresh. Each drink was cool and satisfying. The rooms were huge and clean. The staff were all very friendly and accommodating, from servers to cleaning staff. But the service that really stood out for us was the Butler Service. We had the 2 most intuitive butlers we could have asked for: Luiz & Stephanie. Anything we needed, or wanted to book, they made it happen, seemingly at any time of day or night. Dinner, spa, massage reservations.. Easy. Tips on what to do each day... Got it. Very pleasant to deal with over WhatsApp. Luiz & Stephanie helped us take this vacation to the next level. It allowed our family to offload the stress of reservations etc onto the pros that know the resort inside and out. I can't thank you enough. We loved this resort! …
This trip brought us back to the El Dorado family of resorts after many years. This time we could not stay at the adults only Royale, so we opted for Generations. As it turns out, we got lucky! My impression is that this small property punches above its weight. Although there are only a few restaurants, they were all great. The food was consistently creative and well-prepared. But what sets Generations apart from other Karisma properties we have experienced is the service. We had an excellent team of butlers: Luiz and Gerardo. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, these two were on the ball and ready to help with anything. As Exotic members, our service was further enhanced by our concierge Kevin. He assisted in clearing up an unfortunate room assignment (avoid the far side of building 18 if you are looking for peace and quiet). On the beach, we were served by Erbie our beach butler who catered drinks, towels and organised the Bali beds. These Bali beds are first-come-first-served for non-members, but we could reserve for the week. About the beach: don’t plan on doing a lot of ocean swimming. The surf is rough and the destruction of the breakwater system has created a seaweed problem. However, they work hard to keep the beach itself clean and graded with a tractor every morning. We were travelling with two adults, two kids (tweens) and a senior. The accommodation was a “two bedroom” suite, which is actually a standard room adjoining a king suite. The combination of living and dining space with kitchenette along with two full baths, and a half-bath made it easy to share the space. The basic room also had its own sofa bed with a dividing wall to create additional sleeping. Things felt a bit run-down, but I was told the hotel is actively refurbishing the rooms. Our suite was a swim-up on the second floor. (Note: The resort is confusing in how they’ve numbered the floors. To crack the code, start counting at “0” for ground level.) The swim-up concept is fun, because the pool runs along the end of everyone’s balcony. This means it is somewhat of a shared space. If a family is splashing around, chances are they might swim past your area, and you will definitely hear them. Our kids loved the swim up, but I was glad to be on the end of the floor in a corner room. They just feel a little more sheltered because their balconies are set back further than the rest. For activities, I would highly recommend checking out the Nickelodeon water park (right next door, they can take you over by golf cart) and Rancho Bonanza (reviewed separately). On the whole: a great family vacation, and we are seriously considering coming back again next year!…
Had a great time with family and friends! The beds are so comfortable. The nightly shows and entertainment really set it apart from other resorts! The staff (shoutout to Luiz and Stephanie) were very attentive and quickly worked to accommodate any requests, as well as help arrange dinner and other reservations. Daniela and others in the Kids Club are amazing, the kids really looked forward to going. We would definitely return.
This was a most magical and relaxing grtaway. All the staff were over the tip friendly, helpful and accomodating. Despite what the news is currently saying about safety, there wasnt a moment where my husband, daughter and I felt in any way unsafe. If only I could stay longer, I absolutley would🙂 Viva la Mexico❤️❤️❤️
We came for spring break with our 2 kids ages 9 and 5. We've had the privilege of staying at several all inclusive properties in Mexico and here are my pros and cons for Generations. PROs: - Close to CUN airport - Clean property with a great pool - Beach day beds are beautiful and the grounds of the property are very well kept - Kids club open from 9-5 and it is very clean, neat, and the staff are very polite - They carry flavored liquors and have 1800 tequilla - Friday and Saturday night kids club open from 7:30-9 for "movie night" adults can enjoy a nice dinner without having to get a babysitter - You are allowed to use the all adult property amenities and restaurants, but they are strict on no kids allowed - The property is very large and has a nice path for waking and running along the beach. If you like things in one area this isn't the property for you. They also offer golf cart rides between the family resort and all adult resorts. - Great buffet for breakfast - Dinner meals are very good. - Fun daily activities for the kids CONs: - If you are a beach lover, this property isn't for you as they have a lot of debris on the beach and stuff floating in the water. - You'll need to work with your host as soon as you arrive to get reservations because it seemed as if we couldn't hardly get any reservations when we wanted into restaurants. - The Starbucks coffee shop is not included - There isn't anywhere to grab food for your kids and take it. Your options are to sit at a table at one of the restaurants or order room service, which can take anywhere between 30 minutes to 1 hour. - The app that the resort has works only part of the time. We ordered room service a few times through the app only to never get it. When we called inquiring about it they indicated the app was broken, yet it appeared to be working properly. - Limited lunch options …
Ana and Eddie were amazing butlers. Attention to every detail! The food was delicious. The resort was very well kept. The eco kids club is so fun for the younger children with new activities daily. Cheer!
Diego and Luna were excellent butlers! The resort is immaculate. There is plenty for kids to do and plenty of food options. The available excursions are engaging and safe. We especially loved the day trip to Nickelodeon water park right next door. My in laws, husband, and two young children enjoyed the entire week we were there. It was stress free and memorable.
We went for a week Sunday to Sunday. Pool was fantastic staff were great. Our butlers, Diego and Luna were fantastic as well as everyone else. So many names. Alan and Roberto in the chefs market restaurant, were fanastic. We had a great time, it's hard to go home.
This is the second time we have brought out large family of 7 to stay at this resort! As always we loved every second! As our kids get older I love that there is something for everyone to do no mater the age! Ana and Eddie, I’m sending a large shout out to the 2 of them! They were our Butlers, I love how they became family that you can ask for help in any way, there to make your stay just so much more enjoyable and relaxing! Thank you for making our 2023 family vacation so memorable!💗💗
We went with our 2 sons (ages 4 and 5) and friends with their son (age 10) and we all had a great time! We are Ruby Members and loved our butler service from Luiz, Gerardo and Stephanie. They made our trip so easy by making our dinner reservations, ordering room service, driving us to the spa and dinners at Casitas and El Dorado Royal, scheduling nanny service and pretty much going out of their way every day to make our trip “Excellente!” We love traveling as a family to The Generations hotel because the kids to stay at the kids club and my husband and I an enjoy the spa (thanks to Rosa and Dayane for great massages!!) or go to dinner at the adult resorts next door (Casitas and El Dorado Royal). And the kids love the Kids Club. The nannies there are so nice! Daniella was especially nice to our family and babysat our kids for 3 nights. She planned fun games (like a Treasure Hunt) and treated them very well. We really enjoyed Fuentes restaurant- a live cooking theater - 5 course meal with wine pairings! So delicious! Loved our waiter, Memo, and the sommelier, Edgar, was amazing too! All in all the staff is outstanding! I wish I remembered all their names to thank! Oh and last thing - the Michael Jackson performance was amazing! Mexican night with pinanta and mariachi band was top notch! Tons of fun! …
